Is it good? Does it disconnect a million times a day? (Like mine does) What is your average download rate? Oh and who the hell provides you internet? (I'm wanting a replacement damnit!)

I ask these questions because my internet SUCKS ASS and I want to know what everyone else has in comparison. My average download rate is about 60kb/sec which is so damn slow and the stability is a fucking joke. If anyone in my house loads up google images, my internet will just slow to a halt.. So yeah, fuck you BT.

EDIT: Good god here are the results for my speedtest. Never ever use BT broadband, it's fucking dog shit. F- FUCKING F MINUS!

I'm in the US so I don't know if you'd even have the same internet providers as I do... but I believe we've got Verizon/Fairpoint (or whatever they're called now). The max download rate here is around 340 KB/s, but I'm not sure if that's because of our provider or because our modem/router are so ancient.

It does like to randomly disconnect at the most inconvenient times (like while I'm typing up a forum post), but again, I think that's more down to how old our modem and router are than the actual internet provider...

I wish I had 340 kb/s -.-

I'm on BT (British Telecommunications) so a transfer to Verizon/Fairpoint would be impossible, thanks for sharing anyway. :3

The saddest part is that I frequently wish my internet wasn't so slow. It grinds to a halt any time something is being downloaded or streamed because, hey, those things should get priority, right? And my best friend's internet caps out at something like 750 KB/s, which just blows my mind any time I use it.

One of my mates over in Belgium has internet that supposedly averages over 2.5 mb/s. I'm visiting them for the first time in July for a good old face to face meeting and gaming session so I'll find out if that's true. :p

You can atleast take solace in the fact that your internet isn't as bad as mine T.T

5.23Mbps when it is working. When it is spotty it goes between this and 0 whenever it feels like it. I hate my internet when it is spotty, it makes online gaming hard to accomplish. :/

To Speedtest!

So yeah, not terrible, but not out of this world, either.

My Xbox has troubles staying connected to Live quite a bit, although I hear that's quite a common problem, especially with the "Superhub" which to be perfectly honest, isn't all that super :/

Well my download rate usually stays around 600 KB/s, but I've seen it bump up to 1 MB/s occasionally. It does occasionally turn itself off (once a week at least) but hey, judging from you guys, my internet is god.

EDIT: Well according to Speedtest.net...

But I'm currently using military internet speeds =P My home internet is probably lower.

It's bloody fast at university:

And almost as fast at home due to fibre optic networks being all over the place where I live. The other day I downloaded a ~600MB file for work and got a peak data transfer speed of roughly 27MB/sec. And yes, MB, not Mbits. Crazy stuff.

My internet never has any issues with disconnecting however it is fairly slow. Something like 5Mb/s. Australian internet speeds suck ass. The NBN can't come soon enough.

wich is exactly what they told me i would have when i subscribe, so i'm pretty pleased of it. of course it does come with a 90 gb download/upload limit. but i have an average use of 40 gb per month or so. of course i'm not streaming all day, or watching film of netflix or things like that...

Not bad, usually does what I want it to do with little to no fuss. When I was a student Virgin was really unreliable due to the massive over-subscription (and occasional vandalism), but now I've moved away from them bloody students it's a decent service. I have no idea what it's supposed to be up to though.

Well, I guess it works for me. For some reason, my speed jumps depending on what I do on my computer. I am quite surprised at how slow we are compared to the rest of the world though, stupid corporations just had to be clever bastards...

I'm on BT at the moment and it is bad. Sometimes it can be alright, but sometimes it's bad. When playing league it sometimes spikes right up to no reason. At one point I had over 1000 ping. It was horrifying! D: It's pretty bad for downloads too. Took me nearly 3 days to intall and patch Tera online. It is well worth that wait though. I love how actioney it is. The graphics are also gorgeous! I took a lot of pictures while playing. And now I've ogne on a tangent so I shall take my leave and just say BT sucks.

It should be 30Mbps/8Mbps, but I'm not at home at the moment so I can't test it. I pretty consistently get about 1,2MB/s via Steam which is a bit slow compared to what I ought to get.

At home, my upload speed is pretty shit, but the connection is decent. I'm not complaining. ^^

Home results:

University network is a lot better though. Hurray for superior Dutch internet!

A slow 120kb/sec download rate. Which is about 1/10th of what my ADSL connection should provide. Probably time to see whether a 4G mobile broadband connection can provide greater speeds and equal stability. I doubt it.

Canadian internet is best internet. It gets the job done though, so I'm not complaining. I guess it never disconnects though, so it got that going for it.

Edit: It has more to do with the provider though. Eastlink's not so great.
