What song lyrics really just don't work for you? What song are they from, and why do you not like them?

I personally do not like the words, "I don't want to look in your eyes because they release the fire of a thousand suns," from "The Tragedy of Empty Streets" by Bleeding Through, just because those words are just so generic.

I could list hundreds of songs i do not like by bands i fdont like but instead i am going to give the worst lyrics in a good song.

Hurt by NIne Inch Nails: "I hurt myself today to see if i could feel the pain" sure they are an angsty band but this is just too much angst and i cannot defend this lyric against the ignorant people who would call NIN emo.

It's actually "to see if I still feel", and I like the song. Besides none of the other songs NIN write ever imply in any way that they are an angsty band (or better yet, that Trent Reznor is an angsty person). I agree that the song Hurt sounds a bit angsty, but I think it's the only song of them that does.

You should listen to the Johnny Cash version, I like both but the Johnny Cash one is better in my opinion, and less angsty. So to stay on topic, I think that at times "who" sings the lyrics can make a huge impact on how good the lyrics are.
