I had a choice. I had the choice to go work out, probably get some experience to help me in the next year of school, go make some friends.

Instead I said screw that and decided to make this thread which will probably be forgotten in 6 hours. What ingame soundtrack you felt was so crappy you just had to mute the computer or close the game?

-So bad it's good tracks do not count.
-Licensed music counts if the usage of the track is terrible.(Example: Friday during the suicide mission)
I loved the Battlefield 3 theme song(You know where I'm going with this). I loved how they kept the original but added a few things to it. It felt both modern and old at the same time and I love it.

Then I heard an electric goat fart a turd the size of Neptune.

It turned out to be Battlefield 4's theme song.
*cries*

Also yes I know I'm posting a lot of threads lately. This is my last for this week/month/whatever. Sorry if it annoyed anyone. Also yes it's another complaining thread. Sorry!

That is a weird electronic fart, but you can probably turn off in-game music, or at least you can on most games.

The Gran Turismo series has the worst menu music of any game I've played regularly. It's normally the first or second thing I do on starting it up to mute that. Conversely the licensed non-original tracks are normally very good, so obviously they stay on.

Any game with dubstep or drum and bass.

Pretty much any sports game or racing game, especially EA games, fucking EA Trax are so horrible. Thank god Need for Speed Hot Pursuit had custom soundtrack option on PS3.

Lastly, I'm playing XCOM now (since it's free on PS+) and loving it, but the music and sound is just so weak (not really bad or annoying) that I had to move around some cords to play music from my computer through my receiver while having the game audio through the TV.

I'm full of fandom for Trials Evolution but its generic Bro Rap Metal is easily among the worst sounds my eardrums ever had the displeasure to come in contact with. Like.. I hope it's tongue-in-cheek, haha. Not sure, though.

I always kinda felt that the newer the Tony Hawk game, the worse the soundtrack was. But, that's the joy of Tony Hawk. I can mute the hell out of everyhting else, jam out my music, and just mindlessly skate for hours.

The soundtrack for the original Crysis wound me up, just because it would appear seemingly at random, because either you hadn't reached the dramatic gameplay yet, or had finished it. And then it would disappear so you'd have no ambient music for about 40 mins, then you'd get another "a wild fanfare appears!" moment.

Also, for a blast to the past, I tried playing Shadows of the Empire again recently. Jesus, the music for that isn't just unrelenting, it's borderline sadistic!
The same 3 minute segment of music lifted from the films repeated constantly for entire missions.

I didn't mind Crysis 2's main menu music at first, then after hearing it over and over again... Seriously, it's the kind of thing that just bores into your skull.

The Darksiders 2 soundtrack. It's not that the soundtrack was bad, it's that the version for sale on iTunes doesn't include the Guardian boss fight theme, for some ungodly reason. I seriously can't believe that they didn't include it. That one song was probably the most noteworthy part of that otherwise average game for me, and it's baffling that they didn't put it up for sale.

Fun fact, most of the music for Shadows of the Empire was actually written for the novelization. Weird, huh? Giving a book a soundtrack? Just a shame that they didn't use the full tracks in the game itself, some of them are quite nice.

the soundtrack to the 3D zelda games
sweet fuck are they annoying and dull with, especially the twilight music from twilight princess, with particular mention going to the twilight battle theme
the one exception here being Wind Waker, that one's pretty alright

When I'm playing any of the older Need for Speed games like Underground 1\2 or Most Wanted I turn the music off entirely and the other sounds down considerably and use my mp3 player to listen to podcasts and music while playing.

OT: I'd have to go with the music from The Sims 1 or 2. Those are the only Sims games I really have any experience with and music sounds like the kind of music you'd hear in a one of those educational videos they'd show you in school that were filmed in the late 80's through the mid 90's. It's really annoying and I usually turned it off as it didn't lend much to the atmosphere of my homicidal Sim locking people in the basement until they died of starvation.

WELCOME TO HELL. KNOW MY PAIN.

In all seriousness, I tend to forget bad music in games.

Robo Ky's theme in Guilty Gear, in a game that has songs like these, they decided the best course of action when making Robo Ky's theme was re-recording Holy Orders with a broken guitar
And if that wasn't bad enough, when his theme got remixed, this was the result
I'm going to let you make your own judgement on that

Another related thing i hate is Tao's theme in Blazblue, i hate fighting against Tao since i main Relius and he doesn't have any reversals,so Tao can just keep me block stunned, or hitstunned for the entire match, and i don't like her theme because it just doesn't fit in
And am i alone when i say i hate Bayonetta's soundtrack?

Bayonetta has a godawful soundtrack, i once heard someone praising it, and calling it "smooth jazz" or something
I just listened to that piece of shit for like 5 seconds before realizing that was it, i would be ashamed if someone saw that on my internet history, anyways
I have a hard time liking female singers, their voices have a higher pitch and i hate high pitches, there are some i like, but that soundtrack makes me want to go and kick my tv in the screen, thank god you can overwrite the music with your own, if not i might have gone crazy from the time i spent on that game(around 40 hours), that soundtrack was one of the reasons why i didn't like that game very much
I loved the Bayonetta soundtrack, it was one of the few things that kept me playing; really I just love any variation of 'Fly Me to the Moon'. I absolutely wouldn't call it smooth jazz though, it's more like bad lounge music on speed.

I must say, I find it kind of odd that you hate anything with a high pitch, is there any particular reason?

OT: The worst crime a soundtrack can commit, for me, is to be utterly unremarkable. I don't ever recall a soundtrack I found particularly grating, but there are plenty that I just found boring and uninspired. In that case I usually just mute the music and listen to a podcast while I play, instead.

Okage Shadow King's OST suites it pretty well but it's so goddamn repetitive I just can't listen to it for long.

Any game (or movie) for that matter, should stop with the lyrics for all of their OST. I can think of very few moments where it's necessary or even enjoyable. Notable exceptions are when the voice is more of an instrument, such as the iconic:
Gladiator[/youtube]

It kinda stopped with the 80's and montages, so you should stop it too. :p

Thanks for the find buddy, great song. The vocals are absolutely fine and aside from the dissonance between its lazy feel and upbeat I love it.

Oh thanks, I knew there were a few more game soundtracks I forgot to go and download again when I rebuilt my music library. I lost EVERYTHING from my old laptop so i'm still piecing together every song I ever had. Who says random internet rants are a bad thing? :3

OT: The in-game music in League. I disabled that crap around level 10. It's so spineless and is just bad... Like they made some good soundtracks for character select and stuff then suddenly realised they should have some game music too and slapped together this mindless shit.

Everything Pokemon.
Sorry to say, but it sounds to me like somebody is molesting geese with a cucumber.
Always reminds me of this:

Spin-offs like Pokemon Conquest being the exception.

Oh lordy that music is taking me back! That Giant Diagona boss was terrifying when I was a kid.
And it's not just me dammit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6ETPsl0FEA

Look at the comments!

Anyhow, I knew that the Shadows of the Empire project really branched across media, but I didn't know about the soundtrack. You learn something new every day!
Why oh why didn't they play whole damn songs in the game?
