It's a sad but true fact of Life. One day you are going to stop breathing, turn cold and die. That doesn't neccesarily mean that your truly dead. It has been said that the memory we leave behind grants us our immortality. While the nature of memory is usual and ethreal one, there are those who leave behind something physical like a statue or an heirloom. My question is this: What do you hope to leave your loved ones when your join the Choir Invisible?

Personally, I would leave a golden ring with my family crest on it. It was given to me by my parents when I turned 21 and I would hope that tradition would continue.

I don't think I have anything worth passing on. I certainly do hope I find something before I go for a lie-down in a casket.

I'm not that sort of sentimental person. The things I'll leave behind are scientific publications. I have 1 so far and I'm working on another now.

If I could remember Okeer's little speech from Mass Effect 2, I'd use it here. But staying on topic, I have no legacy so far and don't really mind if I leave one or not. I'm here to live, not be known through the ages. Simple as that.

Cool! May I ask as to the subject?

My family has a nice wooden box in which we keep our most (sentimentally) valuable memories. Someday I hope that my siblings and I, when our parents pass on, will inherit that box and add our own memories to it, and that our own children will do the same when we pass on. Start a tradition lasting through the generations.

...Though that is, if I am ever fortunate enough to have children.

Now I'm sad, too...

This thread makes me sad.
Friends, Friends. This isn't a thread about death or for melancholy? This is about Life! Celebrating your Life and the lives of those before you. Think not of losing but what you are giving.

All I'd really have are the archives. I have massive amounts of personal writings and thoughts, as well as story ideas that I have conjured up. Aside from that is my long history of walking into situations with only my own experiences and emerging as something worthy of note. Given time... I suspect that I will do things in the future that people will remember. At least I hope so...

My children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. When the oldest of each set turns an age they're deemed responsible (Around 18) they shall receive the ring my father handed down to me.

When I pass on, the world will weep at my death. The many people of earth and its colonies will reflect upon the glorious age I brought mankind into and how much I have managed to progress us as a species. Statues will be built across the globe to commemorate my great effort. Children will be named after me and many a book will be written to describe my glorious life to all those who have not heard all of my tale. Not all of my actions will be celebrated but everyone will understand that some were necessary. I will leave an empire that will hopefully stand for millennia.

That is until my followers manage to resurrect me as a cyborg.

I thought a legacy is what you get in stead of getting paid? Cookies for anybody that can tell me what film that's been paraphrased from. I'm not sure what I'd want to leave behind. I'd say 'memories' but that couldn't be cheesier.

Broadly, pharmaceutical science.

More concise, medicinal chemistry.

More concise, rational drug design.

More concise, use of virtual screening techniques to develop new enzyme inhibitors.
