4 horseman from Vanilla Wow or C'thun, he was a pain, weeks and weeks of 4 hour raiding every day, good times.
Agh forgot about those. C'thun is still a pain at 80 tbh you need people who know the blasted fight and well the ammount of noobs on my server is painful so so painful. Lich King is supposed to be a nightmere only one guild on my server has done it on 10man...

Miguel - Chrono Cross. Maybe I was young and not prepared for the fight like the older, more experienced gamer I am today, but that fight kicked my ass for hours and hours.
Two friends and I spent about eight hours on the Time Devourer. Before looking up the quick way to do it. Counting the end cutscenes, I believe the ending for that game took us a half a day.

I spent a good 30 minutes on the huge statue in DMC4, mostly because I didn't understand how to do at first. Other than that I don't have any extreme examples, but even something short as 30 minutes can feel like an eternity when you're under stress and can't figure out how to kill the SOB.

Edit: Are we talking one fight, or all fights together? In that case I probably spent over 2 hours on that statue. That laser ain't exactly difficult to dodge, but when you're not paying attention it really hurts.

I think the only right answer is Yiazmat from FFXII.

I mean, the game LETS you take a break from the fight!

Ah the memories...

There have been two boss battles that caused me intense mental AND physical pain, and both were in the same game, Devil May Cry on Dante Must Die difficulty.

The first fight that drove me to insanity was the first encounter with a "Shadow." Try as I might, I just couldn't kill the thing. I quit playing the game for about two weeks. The first time I pick it up again, I kill it in like five minutes...wtf?

The second...the second truly was torture. The final fight with Nelo Angelo(aka Virgil). This fight took the cake. Not just a slice, the whole damn thing. I spent a total of about 45-46 hours trying to kill him. I'd try for about an hour or two each day for a month. I quit playing for the longest time, about four months. My cousin came over, loaded my file, and pwnd him. I was pissed.

Welcome to the Escapist :D
You may notice that the last post before yours was on 23rd February.
This topic is dead, find a more recent one to post on?
But nice call on the Jack Wylde challenge.

I remember on my first try, I gave up and when I came back he was dead :p But eventually I killed him for real, got his camo and his gun eventualy too...
Lol, spoiler. The End was one of the best boss fight evah. I killed him like almost immediately in the beginning though since I read a walkthrough that told me about where he'd be.

I'm a n00b in the "very, very long boss fight" division, but I find that the Bayonetta bosses take quite a while to beat, on account of them having a ton of health.

Oh wait! This one guy from FFIX took me a grand total of about 3 hours to beat (over 3 times), because I spent 2 hours on my first try, because he diminshes your attack power to that of a baby, he knocks 2 members of your party out of the fight if you aren't careful, and he never actually kills you. Eventually I just turned off the system and tried again the next day. I beat him quickly then, but I died on the very next enemy, so I had to fight him again

Final Fantasy XII's Yiazmat.
Hours of work, a bugger to kill - but at least you could run off, save and heal then come back without it healing itself.
B.S. It healed a decent amount of HP each time you ran off to save and heal. I spent roughly 6 hours fighting that thing and never managed to take its health bar down below about half. Ugh, HATE it. Hate it SO FREAKING MUCH.

Culex from Mario RPG was difficult since I was young and that was my first RPG. I don't remember spending too much time on this fight but it is still a notable.

Black Phantom Satsuki.

He wasn't hard, but the oh-so-intelligent devs decided to put in a senseless and time consuming "slash-and-dodge" maneuver with any curved sword. Seriously, my characters end up doing so much retarded shit because of these random "maneuvers" you end up accidentally doing most of the time.
This. I didn't stand a chance against him unless I summoned a phantom, and I usually had to get within his line of sight to summon the phantom.

Dunno. I remember the last/second to last boss from The World Ends With You being annoyingly long. Then there was also Yurka's final from Evolution Worlds.

Of course, my first long boss battle was against Bowser in Mario Tennis 64. I'd win the cup if I beat him (it took forEVER!).

The Tower Knight in Demon's Souls. Took me like an hour and a half to figure out how to beat his ass and even then it was hard as hell to pull off. In the end it took me like 3 hours.

SWAT: Aftermath, a map for Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne, has a final boss that can take fifteen minutes or more to kill depending on the amount of players in the game. Saves and loads not allowed.
