man, okay, the ladder got me too, but I just jumped. Then tried to shoot Fettel.
I jumped too (in every sense of the word.) I play with a joystick and trackball, my back is to the computer room door, and the door is closed so that She Who Must Be Obeyed doesn't bludgeon me to death over the noise. Many times I've jumped when I'm in a tense part, waiting to be jumped by something, and she opens the door behind me. But the worst are when I jump and then furiously try to turn around - using the joystick and trackball. Wifey get tickled then. Although other amusing times are when I've got the door open to dissipate the heat and am therefore wearing headphones, and I have no idea she's around until her hand comes down on my shoulder...

This thread has been done before though, and the kid whose friend cut the power off during F.E.A.R. and then sent in his little sister dressed as Alma - man, nothing can ever top that story.

I intentionally unlocked the easy mode in Ninja Gaiden: Black (as in I let the first enemies in the game kill me 3 times in a row without fighting back) because I was too much of a coward to go through the game again on the hard difficulty levels. I've always been ashamed of that.

In Condemned, playing through the second chapter, I saw a ledge and for whatever reason decided to go over and look over the edge. An enemy jumped up, screaming, into my face. My cry of "OH SHIT!" was loud enough to concern my mom, who was sitting reading a book in the family room, down the hall from my room, when I had the door closed.

Have to add something. Just played a nice little freeware game called Penumbra. Car outside revved its engine and I almost soiled myself.

You should play it. Good game.

There was the first zombie on RE, I was playing it for the first time at midnight on a projector, not the smartest of moves.

There was a few of the transformations from Haunting: Starring Polterguy (look it up)

I wept with terror when i found out the spice girls had a game...
as for embarresing, it took me a good three races to figure out the accelerator in Mach Rider

Back when I was about seven or eight, the drowning noise in Sonic 2 would absolutely terrify me for some reason. I would have to have my mom play through the water levels for me while I hid behind the couch. She never lets me live that one down...

Those things were horrible. Hell, in the same vein, Majora's Mask had a hefty share of hideous leering faces popping out at you from nowhere. The moon!

Also, anyone ever play the NES adventure game Uninvited? The skeleton woman in the first hallway? I screamed like a little girl. I can feel bit more forgiving, as I WAS a little girl at the time, but I got an impressive amount of startled for a still image.

i had went to some all night video game party with my friend, and there happened to be a big Halo 2 multiplayer match with about 4 xboxs hooked together
(this was the very first time i have ever even heard of Halo).
normally when it comes to video games, I'm usually kicking every1s butt the intire game... but when i joined in to play halo, i absolutely SUCKED! i LITERALLY couldn't hit another player even while being only about 4 feet away from them (and don't get me started on my experience with the Banshee). i was so bad, whenever i actually managed to kill some1, every1 would laugh at and mock that person for being bad enough to get killed by me.

none the less, i still thought Halo is a pretty fun game, even if i suck at it.

The one time that I died from being stepped on by an AT-AT in Star Wars Battlefront. (The most difficult method of dying in Battlefront. It takes skill to even do it intentionally)

I have to say, although I never scream, any time I see little girls in video games (Prey's ghost-kids, FEAR's Alma, etc.) I have to pause so that I can stop shaking. Games are going to be the reason I never have kids.
Don't even try Project Zero then. Creepiest Onryo ever. And that includes Sadako Yamamura.

I had to play PZ in short sections, no other game has ever fucked me up that much. (I know someone who turned it off after the first screen, couldn't handle the ropes hanging in the hallway)

Please don't laugh at me...

I was playing the Call of Duty 4 F.N.G. for the first time. It had been ages since I played a shooter. So, you remember that part where you throw the first flashbang at the room? Well, my flashbang bounced off a wall and landed at my feet. It blinded me, and in my blinded fury I threw another flashbag. This, too, bounced off a wall and landed at my feet, and just as the haze from the first flashbag disappeared the second one blew, blinding me again.

You'd think I was done. But no.

I threw a third flashbang in my frenzied-animal blindness. It... landed at my feet.

Worst F.N.G. ever.

Ratchet and clank, the section with the tunnel filling with water, I used to refuse to play which makes no sense *don't laugh* and Bioshock where I spent 10 minutes shooting at a wall before I realised there was a lift in the corner. Actually pretty much any part where I would stand in the corner cradling the shotgun while the splicers muttered in the dark.

I've had a few embarrassing moments. More than a few, come to think of it. There was a time in EvE I was in my wolf, sitting on a gate, eyeing up a cyclone flown by a noob from a corp we'd been pirating for about a week. Hell, I figured, it was a noob, I could take it. So, still sitting on the gate, I attempt to persuade him to pull the trigger. We argue for about a minute then I notice he has a mate closing on me. Another cyclone. Oh dear, I think, where's the jump button? A glance at the overview reveals I am not in fact on the gate, but ten freakin' kilometres away from it. A lock, webbifier, warp scramble and depressingly little shooting later, my pod was running away very quickly.

Yeah, I didn't tell my corpies how I lost THAT particular assault frig.

Back when I played WoW my friend told me to type in /played. Man, I felt like a little girl about that.

Edit: I just found something that made me feel like a complete pansy. I remember being quite scared of the SA-X in Metroid Fusion, mostly due to the fact that it could fucking freeze you in one hit at earlier levels, then proceed to stunlock-rape the shit out of you. But I just found this
http://www.metroid2002.com/fusion/other_stupid_sa-x_series.php
which brought this thought to my mind: "I was scared of that?!"

Playing the demo of the first "Quake", and going into the castle when an Ogre comes out of nowhere! I ran around in circles in panic, fired in every direction and somehow managed to kill it.

Or there was my first fleet battle in EVE, where I leapt into action....and somehow pressed the wrong keys and went to the solarsystem map for most of the fight, unable to see WTF was going on. Then I started taking massive damage from someone, so I hit the warp drive and shot off in a random direction, unable to see where I was going. Somehow, I survived.

I've got too excited and hit all my F keys up to F10 before too... not cool.

Actually, it would have to be in half life 2. Well there are a few. That game ruined me.

The airboat part where you have to raise the jump by pushing the washing machine down a hole. I had a huge argument with my friend about whether you should do that and then how you could get out. He said that it was what was supposed to happen. Whimsically, he ran off the edge and into the hole, promptly pulling a lever and climbing out.

Not a minute later, as we head back to where our airboat was parked, we see a supply crate in the middle of a pool of water. Good old supply crates, a safe haven of health and ammo. O GOD ITS A ZOMBIE HOLY CRAP. My friend threw the controller so high it dented the ceiling where it hit. We really freaked out, as it was about 3 AM. We were not too alert.

Ravenholm. I hate that place. Zombies just keep COMING man! every time you turn around, there is another pile of zombierape waiting shuffling after you.

Half life 1 had its share of not-so-dead zombies too. For some reason that zombie having a seizure in front of the laptop in the red-lit lab disturbed me.
