Sakura from Naruto. Reasons why (short version):
- Boring character with an annoying personality
- Useless, a constant burden
- Never matures or changes throughout the series (I don't care what you say about Shippuden, after that one fight against the puppet master she reverts to her old ways)
- Doesn't even try to understand characters she professes to love
Long version:
Throughout the whole first half of the series she is useless, can't do anything but cry and rely on others. Yet despite this she makes selfish requests of others and even berates them for not doing enough (like in the forest of death the first time they run into Orochimaru, bloody hypocrite). She says she loves Sasuke but can't understand why he's leaving the village or why the idea of being with her doesn't change his mind. Then she has the gall to ask Naruto to bring Sasuke back while doing nothing herself.

Skip ahead 3 years and she seems to have changed. Seems determined to make up for not doing anything to bring Sasuke back and can now fight & heal. But what does she do the next time they meet Sasuke? Nothing. How about the time after that (just as he's killed Danzo)? Well, she'd finlly taken some initiative, intending to kill him herself so Naruto won't have to worry about it, then does nothing. I don't know whether to be more angry at how immature she must be that she can't move beyond a childhood crush (which was never reciprocated) or at how, after finally deciding to be pro-active, her will faltered and she needed others to save her again. Oh, and just before that she thought if she pretended to love Naruto he'd be willing to give up chasing Sasuke. Presumptiosness aside how does she still fail to understand the characters she's meant to be so close to? How could she possible think Naruto would go for that? ARRG!

Kishimoto better not pair her together with Naruto in the end...

For me (recently at least, as it's the only 'popular' thing that comes to mind) is whoever the hell voiced Marcosius in The Shakugan no Shana English Dub. Normally I prefer dubs over subs, but holy shit, I'm putting this here because he butchers the character. His delivery of the character falls so flat and he turns the playful sadism and battle lust that Marco has into a childish fool who can't talk smack. That and his voice just grates, the Japanese Marco is so much better.
Season One or the newly released Season Two Marco? Also kudos, good to see another fan of the series.

For me.

Kira Yamato - Gundam Seed Destiny.
Liked him in the first series, but he pretty much ruined the second series and earned my rapid hatred. A massive hypocritical twat who only seems to survive through sheer plot-armor and fan-love.

Priscilla - Claymore
A terrible central antagonist. Unlike the Abyssal Ones, Isley and Riful, she lacked any respectable traits, she got lucky, didn't fight for her position as top dog and has a very boring back-story.

Casavir and Elanee - Neverwinter Nights 2
Boring characters, that I started to hate when I learnt the love-interest stories for Neeshka and Bishop were shafted in favour of them.

Envy - Fullmetal Alchemist (All)
Cause' he is a dick.

This. Joffrey is one of the most evil characters in any book, ever.

His death made Storm of Swords my favourite in the series
same, I loved how it was planned and carried out, that little git had it coming

I knew I wasn't going to be the first one to say either of them. Well, I'll add to the ASoIaF cavalcade with Khal Drogo, a looting and pillaging bastard, that a lot of people apparently like for some reason that has eluded me.

Also, you might want to fix that typo, you've got Ice and Fire mixed up.
I also didn't quite like Khal Drogo, I didn't like the way that his people pillaged villages and raped women and then made them slaves. And thanks for pointing out the typo! ^_^ I shall fix that
I agree, definitely the best part about the third book.

What really made it mean something to me was seeing how much of a prick he was going to be to Sansa after the Red Wedding. I mean she thinks she's lost her entire family and you want to serve her her brothers head. His death was the greatest thing ever written and the perfect way for such a prick to die and his attitude in his final days made his death all the sweeter.

OT, I'd have to say my most hated character would be either Joffery, for reasons above and
Walder Frey. For fucks sake he's bloody 16, he can make mistakes. Just because he slighted you doesn't me you can kill thousands of men! When your inevitable death comes, no man will mourn you. That also goes for Roose Bolton and his son. May the old gods punish you for all eternity.

I also agree with you on Envy and I hate that they removed the Neeshka and Bishop romances, they were the only two characters I was interested in in that way.

Joker from Mass Effect. One: I hate Seth Green. Can't stand him at all. Two: he isn't funny, He's just a really annoying smartass. Having the nickname "joker" makes it even worse. Third: I hate how the writers treat him like he's so cool and funny and make him so goddamn important because he's the "bestest pilot ever". It's bad enough he's even in the game, but there aren't even any good "Oh my god shut up PLEASE" moments, so it seems like Shepard likes him when I don't. You even have to play as him for one part. I seriously wished I could have gotten him permanently killed during that section. Hell, if I was Shepard I would have let him die right at the beginning of the second game. Why would I ever risk my life for that dumbass? Why couldn't it have been my love interest from the last game? Or like some super important ambassador that was being escorted on the Normandy or something? ANYTHING but joker.

Hmm.... to quote Dawkins...

"The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully."

And I'm sorry, but until there is definite and irrefutable evidence that this god person exists, they ARE a fictional character.
I like you.

OT: That fat **** from Awkward... Actually, everyone from Awkward.

Haruhi Suzumiya from The Melancholy of...-you know.

I know the whole point behind her is to be annoying, but that is really all there is to her. That whole fucking show is like the British sitcom Keeping Up Appearances. Also a show where everyone pussy foots around this one annoying character, instead of ***** slapping her and telling her to shut the hell up.
Uhm....
How much of the series did you watch?
Because to me (and I would think anyone who has seen most of the series)....
***** slapping someone who is capable of re-writing the whole of reality seems like a *BAD*
idea. Especially given that she can re-write reality so that nobody/nothing *exists* anymore. Plus the fact that characters around her (Nagato in particular)were almost certainly working in subtle ways to keep anyone from doing so,
for obvious reasons.
Yes, I'm aware of this. It doesn't make her character, nor any of the other characters for that matter, any more bearable or interesting though.

I even saw The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya, and that was the first time I actually enjoyed the characters and the story because things were finally happening. But at the end everything reverts back to the status quo, nothing is gained, nothing is lost, and all the events from the movie might as well not have happened at all. Terrific.

First Chaplain Erebus. What a shit. Humanity could have been all well and good if it wasn't for him and his ridiculously zealous primarch, Lorgar. Instead it was a degeneration of human society across the Imperium, not to mention the fact that Brother Space Marines fought each other in a galaxy spanning war. All the other elements in the books and lore could have created the Horus Heresy but I'll be damned if it wasn't Erebus who pulled off the main parts of the plot.

See, I quite like Roose Bolton because I don't see him as a villain. He's just a pragmatist. Robb Stark was as crap as his father at dealing with people, he was never going to hold an alliance of the North together, something which becomes obvious when he starts making clumsy mistakes. Getting rid of him to prevent needless loss of life in the war and ensuing winter was really the best thing to do. Also, unlike the Freys and, to some extent, Lannisters, he's not unnecessarily evil. He just does the deed, and moves on. In a series full of people making idiotic decisions I like his sensibility.
You're right on Ramsey though, that guy's a total bastard in every meaning of the word.

I see a lot of hate for Joffrey and Cersei, but the character I personally can't stand is Caitlyn Stark. She's just so self-righteous about everything she does even though her decisions are impetuous, driven by arrogance and more often than not just wrong. I mean she goes and kidnaps Tyrion, essentially kickstarting the whole war (something which she never recognises, btw) and when leading a band of followers through the mountains to take him to her sister starts complaining that its his fault and his treachery that those followers are being killed by bandits. Err, no, its yours, for kidnapping the guy (for what reasoning exactly? I never quite understood why she did that) and bringing everyone through bandit-infested mountains! She releases Jaime Lannister causing the friction with the Karstarks when they get angry they can't take similar liberties. So she's also partly responsible for the northern alliance breaking up, which again she never recognises, and it also shows she believes she's above the rules. And then there's her various comments through the series where she seems to believe she knows best about everything forever just because she's squeezed a few kids out. Whats that Caitlyn, you think Robb is trying to send you away to a safe place because you're his mother and having you around makes him look weak. Yes that must be it, it can't possibly be because he thinks you're some of the last remaining family he has left, and one of the few people he can trust, so genuinely just wants you safe and out of harms way, because that might mean the universe doesn't revolve around you. When the (spoiler alert. No, seriously, stop reading if you've not got to Storm of Swords) Red Wedding came around and it turned out Robb probably should have sent her far away (both for her own safety and to stop her giving stupid advice) I felt so damn vindicated. The only thing that spoiled it was that even that didn't stop her. She's still going around making decisions powered solely by her own bloody-minded arrogance. Grr...

I'm actually struggling to come up with any other characters who I've hated so much it would make me happy if they were gruesomely killed...

Given i never watched the new avatar series, and have heard some...mixed things about it, do you mind explaining a bit? If you have to use a spoiler tag that's fine but I'm a bit curious about just what the hell happened.
Witty Name Here said:
Other than hating the utterly stupid love triangle in the show, I honestly thought she was a good, endearing character that I enjoyed.
I don't hate her as much as I hate how events conveniently happened around her while she made one stupid decision after another. For someone 4-5 years older than Aang she is extremely dense, constantly got her ass handed to her despite having mastery of 3 elements and constantly does dumb shit that would make a jaded Aang /facepalm.
Yeah it was part of her character to act impulsively and fuck-up a LOT, but it didn't make her any more likeable. She and most other characters in the show were very one-dimensional, unable to act on a human or logical level and throwing around random emotions. Mako for example, saying he loves Asami but in the last minute he switched back to Korra like a switch.
Angsty teens who can't make up their minds about anything I suppose, am I allowed to hate angsty clueless teens? That's what this show seemed to be about. All the immensely loveable & deep characters from the original series, along with all the subtle pacing, etc got thrown out the window for something that is extremely rushed and forgettable. I don't even remember the names of most characters from Legend of Korra.

All the light-hearted joyous humor was also gone, seriously who can replace Sokka? Bolin + Pabu? Not even close.

And let me explain what happened in exactly 15 minutes in the last episode of the season:

Korra: Boohoo.
Aang: Yo.
Korra: Aang! Sup.
Aang: Gratz on randomly unlocking airbending earlier. It made no sense and I have no idea how that happened, but it conveniently means you can talk to me now.
Korra: Huh? Cool.
Aang: I think you lost the rest your bending somewhere, here have it back.
Korra: Sweet.
Aang: And here's full mastery over the avatar state even though this is your first time connecting with the spiritual side, you'll be able to transition in and out of it at will. Took me a LONG time to master this!
Korra: Neat-o.
Aang: Also here's the ability to energybend...
Korra: Whatever, thanks.
Aang: ...and here's the ability to use energybending to restore people who may have lost their bending.
Korra: Convenient, I know a whole bunch of people who need that!
Aang: Nice. Anything else wrong with the story?
Korra: Nope that's pretty much everything.
Aang: What about the bad guys?
Korra: Oh they killed themselves. I didn't even need to do anything.
*Aang ruffles Korra's hair*
Aang: Good. Try not to make any more oopsies okay? Otherwise I'll have to waste another 30 seconds of my wonderful spirit life fixing everything that was wrong with the plot. Run along now.
Korra: You're the best Aang! *wink*

Jack Merridew from Lord of the Flies. Every time I read that book I end up wanting to kill him the smart-ass, loud-mouthed, pig-hunting, fire-stealing son-of-a-*****.

Without mentioning Miranda Lawson or Lisa Simpson?

Has to be Wilma from Needful Things. God-damn rage-addicted twat picks a fight with one of my favorite characters for no reason, blaming her for everything that goes wrong even when it's actually impossible that it's her fault, which eventually results in both their deaths.

I just love how despicable King Dedede is in the Kirby Anime. In there, he's basically Kim Jong-Douche. Just see for yourself...

The entire core cast was pretty much changed due to the licencing passing from Geneon to Funimation. Lucky I watched subbed!

Also to add to my list...

The Black Knights (Ohgi, Toudou, that blue-haired guy and Ohgi again, etc) - Code Geass
With the exception of Kallen, they were all terrible traitors who sold out the cause of the organisation for their own interests, all on the behest of the ENEMY PRINCE/GENERAL OF DICKDOM EMPIRE. There were plenty of good reasons to betray Lelouch, they chose none of them.

Gino - Code Geass
He sided against the Brittanian Empire, only when it seemingly stopped being a giant, tyrannical, elitist, douche bag empire.

Man, when you think of Code Geass, you just can't stop!

Cornelia - Code Geass
Annoying karma Houdini who somehow was portrayed 'nicely' in the second season, without making ANY redemptive actions at all. Which didn't really fit with her first-season characterization of a elitist glorious douchebag who slaughtered innocent civilians without a second thought.

I liked her better when she was just a *****.

All of the students - Code Geass
Stop taking screen time!

Screw it. Code Geass can have all of this post.

Despite that criticism, Code Geass is the only anime that has stirred my heart and emotions to such incredible effect where I've gone from leaping from my chair in joy one second to crying a river of tears the next. It's the only anime where deaths of characters have literally slammed me with emotional weight...especially Euphemia (all because of Lelouch's MASSIVE fuck-up with his geass), Shirley (WHY??) and finally Lelouch. There's just something extremely peculiar with the way characters die in that anime, the emotions, their final words, etc. I can watch those scenes again and again and tell myself "I already know what's going to happen...don't cry, don't cry, don't cr--FFFFUUUUUUUUUU I'M CRYING"
When I realized Lelouch's grand plan to get himself killed, and then he actually did it...I pretty much lost it.

No such anime has had the emotional weight of Code Geass on me to date. I would go as far as saying no form of media (movie/whatever) has moved me that much.

I've seen Death Note, FMA:Brotherhood, TTGL, etc...all those anime have been emotionally tragic/victorious at times but not the point of driving those feelings through me like Code Geass did.

Usually I'm an emotionless cold-hearted prick who shrugs off character deaths and emotional moments like dandruff off my shoulder, but I don't know why Code Geass affected me so much...?? I literally can't figure out why.
