or more recently,

To be frank, I don't like Nick due to the sole purpose of him being an absolute douchebag to everybody he comes in contact with, but I guess that is just part of his character. That's one of the reasons I play as Coach, because he is just hungry and is always looking to lighten up the mood.

Cho'Gath however, gets no sympathy from me. Seeing him in every round of League of Legends that I play makes my blood boil. Sure, he is easy to kill there in the beginning, but later on he becomes an unstoppable badass of a character that I would rather not even go through the motions of trying to kill.

Seriously, I hate him.

and the minstrels from AC2.
They are better than the simple-folk (pc for retards) in AC1, try sneaking around while they punch you with their tard-strength right into a fucking tour group.
Good point but i was able to avoid them more than the minstrels.

lol @ everyone picking good Final Fantasy characters. You tell those conformists who's boss!

I'd have to go with Quina. S/He's like Cait Sith with brain damage.
Please tell me, what the hell is "good" about squall, titus, vaan, riku and everyone in ff13? these are the ones everyone here are focusing on. maybe its not a question of "teaching conformists" and more about "these fuckers are annoying".
Haven't played VIII, Tidus was never annoying in the least - no clue what you're on about there, Vaan I'll give to you fuck him, Rikku never bothered me (I guess I have a natural tolerance for the chippper people that apparently annoy everyone else) and FFXIII:
Lightning was a straight up badass the whole game
Snow was a bro trying his hardest to be a hero
Hope had legitimate reasons to be depressed, but mans the fuck up after he attempts to murder Snow, and once again when he earns his Eidolon
Fang was meh. At least she's a badass Commando
Sazh was a middle-aged guy trying to keep up with some crazy kids to save his son
Vanille might seem like sugar and rainbows, but she's basically just trying to cover up ruining everyone's lives.
FFXIII's a character-based story. You have to actually play the game and see the characters develop to appreciate them.
If this was hate based on popularity people would be focusing on FF6 and FF7 since these are the most popular/criticaly acclaimed ones.

Tidus, to me was an unbearable little shit. Annoying whining, self absorbed and can not get over his lame daddy issues. The man is also dumb as a brick and the horrible script made all the dialogue with him and yuna tedious. Worse is that the boys father is greatly a better and more interested character and yet I was forced to play as his ospring who I consider less of a man.
Here's a link to the spoony experiment website about a final fantasy x review which mirrors my views on that game almost completely, hope you enjoy it since it saves me the trouble of typing much.

Riku to me was fine, but I think the Riku people are talking about was ffx-2 Riku. Never played that game so I cannot really say if things change but then again they did make Yuna who is a soft spoken church girl into Britney spears, I wouldn't be surprised if they screwed with Riku as well.

As for the FF13 character since I haven't played the game and I do plan on it my opinion about this may chance but want to express them nonetheless. Cloud I agree was bad ass, ohh wait you meant Lightning I'm sorry its just that since they are exactly the same I got confused (even the developers admitted that this was their intent, Lightning is suppose to be a female Cloud). Well maybe they made her into a better Cloud after all Cloud really went downhill with Advent Childrens. All the other character I do not have a comment on but I will say that a popular issue about FF13 is that it takes to long to "get good". Something along the lines of 12 hours is what I hear fans of the game say you have to go through to really appreciate the game. People do not have the patience to do this and I do not blame them in the slightest. I would like your opinion on this matter and I appreciate it.

Agree about Vaan and Quina.

About FF8, holy shit you should consider yourself fucking lucky you did not play this bloody game. I have never wanted to punch a fictional character so hard in my life. Squal's whining makes Tidus look like Confucius. His emo rating makes Cloud from Advent Childrens look like Riku on Ecstasy. The entire game is unbelievably awe full and I cannot fathom on why people like it. Can someone here who likes the game explain to me why they like it because I would really like to hear it.

If anyone who hasnt played the game but wonders what it was like, heres another link to the spoony experiment it also mirrors my opinions about the game more so than the FFx one. Its long but its good.

I'm going to assume the majority of the previous posts are more along the lines of "this character annoys me so goddamn much!" Amateurs.

I mean, yeah, I post the same thing every time this subject comes up, but dammit, there's only a very few character simply fill my blood with liquid rage. So I'll repost something from a while ago.

As I say in each of these threads, they're both from A Drug That Makes You Dream.

I distrusted Kyoka almost immediately, for her attitude and the implications that she bullies a girl I was rather taken with. I disliked her boyfriend Gaito from the instant I heard of his reputation as a bully and possible rapist, and he terrified me during his first on-screen appearance, when his overall demeanor gave every credence to the rumors. That was just at the beginning of the game.

By the end of the game, though, I didn't just want them to die. I wanted to kill them personally. Not in the game, mind you; I wanted to strangle or stab them myself. I wanted to bite their throats and drink their blood. They scared me so badly that I wanted those two hell-beasts in human form to suffer, every bit as much as they made me and Aeka suffer.

By the end of the game, I wanted to repay them in blood.

And strangely enough...I'm not really exaggerating. I don't think I'd ever been, or have yet to be, as enraged as I was during the "Aeka: Fight Against Reality" scene.

Varian Wrynn, god what a warmongering dick, he and Garrosh should just compare penises, get it over with, and let the REAL leaders do the leading.
Hey, Garrosh is a pretty cool guy once you get to know him.

I can't say the same for Varian tho.

Thw Dragon Age Origins party members. Zevran tries to mount you as soon as he meets you and when I told him 'No gay stuff, I'll only let you be my friend and you did try and kill me yesterday so I don't entirely trust you.' he hated me for all the rest of time and tried to kill me when I let him come with me to Denerim. Let someone come adventuring with you for the first time and he gets his mates to ambush you. When Morrigan turned up she was a total ***** to everyone including me and hated me no matter what I did. Sten was narrrow minded and hated me for helping Redcliff village even though it would be neccessary to defeat the Archdemon, tall asshole thinks I'm callow and can't see the big picture. Alistair was a whiny little ***** who would have been cooler had he looked anything like his concept art. Oghren was a drunk fool who could died all the time in combat. Wynne moaned all the time and never talked at all. Shale was arrogant and annoying. Leliana always talked about the maker or her evil french lover. The dog never did anything.

Not enough party members and there was one hetrosexual woman who hated the hetrosexual man and the homosexual woman while the homosexual man wanted to sleep with everyone. Why can't romances happen between other party members because I know Zevran fancies Leliana and in Mass Effect 1 I was hoping to play matchmaker with Ashley and Kaidan.

Sorry for the long post, I do not often post but when I do I like being as clear as I can be.
Sorry for bumping oldish thread, but I felt obliged after leaving the tab open over the weekend and coming back to find this.

Still not catching what everyone's hating about Tidus. Maybe I found a way to relate or cope with him that others couldn't, and that let me appreciate him as a character. Also, I loved FFX to death. I only just played it last summer, so maybe that had something to do with it. Anyway, it's now dominating my list of great games, alongside VII, IX, and XIII.

To say Lightning = Cloud is grasping at straws for criticism. They're most similar in that they're both amazing to see fighting in cutscenes. After that, they're two completely different people. Not saying they're polar opposites, but they aren't the same person.
About the game "getting good" - there are multiple perspectives of that.
When does the story start up? Right from the start. Unfortunately, it bombards you with a lot of information so it's somewhat confusing at the start.
When does the battle system get interesting? At 2-4 hours in, you get magic, the stagger meter, and different battle Roles (each character has 3/6). Your party is chosen for you until 15-20 hours in, during which time you figure out what roles/paradigms you like best, and who's best at them. Once you gain control of all party members, you also get the choice to start levelling them outside of their 3 main roles. Naturally, this is where the battle system fully opens, but that doesn't mean it was boring up until then. Of course, you can just "get through" the game by making one fighting paradigm and one healing paradigm and clicking auto-battle, but that's a terrible strategy fit for the average shit-tier gamer.

Master Chief...

What does he actually do?
Well first of all, he aides in the prevention of the destruction of several ships, space stations and Earth based cities. He is the carrier to the AI Cortana in the first game and therefore he has to keep her safe while she gathers up the information of the Halo rings.
Then he kills one of the three Prophet hierarchs, wages war from the inside of the Prophet's holy city, helps in the battle of Earth and is one of only three people to be involved in the final attempt to stop the Flood infection for good.
Also, he destroyed the first Halo ring.

.... all in a day's work I guess.

OT: As for myself, my most hated character is the Player Character. Seriously, I mean imagine how this would look if you were an NPC, some hyperactive mute running around breaking barrels, jumping everywhere, teabagging corpses and such.... I wouldn't want to be stuck in a room with him.

Gordon Freeman. Seriously.

He's just a mute with no personality, no development and no interesting backstory. The only thing people can attach to him is his appearance, and that only ever appears in game art, and yet so many people treat him like he's the Coming of Gaming Jesus.
"Well you got too admit he does have a rocking beard!"
:p
[oh and the whole, YOU ARE Gordon Freeman thing]

Aerith from FFVII. Thank you game for giving us an amazing healer and then taking the damn ***** away from us once she's all nice and leveled. Not even funny, man. :|

Slap in the goddamn face.

Someone said Fuuka from Persona 3, I agree however Ken annoyed me more (although he was easier to ignore which is good) But both of them had terrible voice acting. It's kind of a shame since all the other characters are dubbed amazingly well. But bad voice acting really can give characters a hate status in my book.

Satoko's father... higurashi when they cry 3rd route (ive only finished up to here) just... die. thats all i got to say about him, having to watch satoko slowly slip into madness well made me hate him alot.

it took a damn natural disater that wiped out a whole town to kill him fully dammit, you wouldn't believe how annoyed that killing and burying him didn't work (it may have if my theory is correct, but that involves parallels dimensions and is rather stupid, blame the fact that the last three games ive bet have involved time travel and parallels (dont confirm or deny this theory if you dont mind, id rather figure it out myself).), well at least im sure hes dead, i missed his name in the list of the dead as i wasnt paying all to much attention for him, was more interested in seeing if Satoko lived.

note i only just finished that route, so no spoilers for any others if you please. or at least give some warning before hand.

on the plus side, at least it ended well for Keiichi that time.

heheheheheheahahahahahahahHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHEHEHEHHAHAHEHEAEHHAHAHAEHAEHAEHAHAHAHEHHAEEHA

ehm sorry about that one there.

edit: eh sorry for the bump, i never noticed the date, my bad.

Well, now that you mention it.....
the overseer, the Irish bartender, and the rich guy with a freaking tower(Fallout 3)
just about every character from CoD:BO's single player mode(and if they count as characters, it's mostly immature player base on LIVE)
and master chief, seriously, he's an idiot in a freaking suit, at least Gordon Freeman got a PhD in button pressing and has a stylin' beard
