GTA4. I knew it was shit,I had written the game off knowing there was no way it would be good.
Then my friends defended it saying that all the dross could be avoided easily enough (they lied) and I found it selling for five dollars (still not worth it.)
I'm sure that game would give arthritis if played start to finish since it takes mashing the A to walk at a decent speed, the cars are impossible to maneuver even in a straight line, and the more I played, the less I had both in game and in life. It made me want to kill it in a real GTA game.
holy crap, that exact same thing happened to me, although I managed to finsih it, its nothing compared to other GTA's

Kane and Lynch 2. I've never been physically sick because of a game, but this is the very first game that manages to do so.

Mass Effect 2. Loved Mass Effect 1, loved Bioware, so i decided why not. Bought it home, played it, and discovered they had removed everything i liked about it, and replaced it with... urgh.

Two Worlds, hands down. Few titles could match it in a contest like this one.

Royal Edition even...

Black Ops PC. My computer simply lacks the RAM to run it >_<
While the game is not very good, how did you not think to go on CanYouRunIt before buying it, or any PC game, for that matter? Their analysis is usually pretty spot-on.

On-Topic, Black Ops PC, I didn't like it and it's still very buggy, uninstalled yesterday, went back to CoD4.

Also Fable 2.
I'm embarrassed to say that I didn't know about it at the time T_T
Plus my computer could run every other new release just fine, but not BO for whatever reason.

That will always be Bioshock, I really wish I had that $5 back.
wow wasn't even worth $5 to you, that is bad
Well if there had been any point at all that I enjoyed even slightly it wouldn't be my choice. Unfortunately, enjoyment never happened, mostly from brokeness that I've explained many many times it the past.

Wait, I thought of an even better example: Super Smash Bros. Melee. Everyone was playing it, I wasn't super good at it but it worked well enough. I got a brand-new, cheap Gamecube and I wanted something fun for when my friends came over, so I bought it.

They never did come over. Instead I just played simple 1v1 Stamina Mode matches against the CPU in scenarios like "Luigi, sick of playing second fiddle, fights Mario in Mushroom Kingdom II" or "Black Bowser vs. Bowser in N64 Jungle" and my crowning pathetic glory, having Mario fight Green Bowser in Battlefield, then a stronger Red Bowser in Brinstar Depths, then a lvl 9 Black Bowser in Final Destination... in imitation of Mario 64, a far superior game. I don't even like Mario.

When I finally did get the chance to play it against one of my friends, it was his copy instead and I lost every round. He used Pichu.

That would annoy me if i thought a game was obviously terrible, but everyone goes on about how awesome it is, like GTA4 and every COD

King Kong on the DS, and Mortal Combat Advance on the GBA.

Just... why did I ever think those were promising titles worthy of investing my hard earned store credit into? Complete shlock!

It's unfortunate, but the most recent game purchase I kind of regret is Fallout:NV on PS3. I knew it was buggy, but not this buggy. Random freezes, disappearing audio, quest bugs... grrr! And to top it off, it's not even an improvement in any way over Fallout 3. I keep popping it in, in hopes there'll be an update for it to take care of at least some of the bugs, but I've really given up hope at this point. Now I can play anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes before a bug occurs and I end up shutting it off.

I also, at one point, wasted $10 on Two Worlds (the first one) for the 360 hoping for an Oblivion-like experience but not Oblivion and was sadly disappointed. The game is almost unplayable simply because it's so hard to see. The menus are clearly optimized for PC displays and they did very little to make it console friendly.

So what is the game you bought and then most regretted buying?
It could be that you bought it before you realised you didn't have the time to play it, you bought it then it was a piece of absolute tripe or maybe you tried to convince yourself all the other people who told you it was tripe were wrong.
For whatever reason, most of us have, at some point, bought a game that was just plain bad.
So which is your most regretted game purchase and why?
Spore without a doubt, maybe Command and conquer 4 (WHY EA...WHY)

I'm going to have to go with FFXIII.

Never have I bought a game and felt it was so completely, thoroughly, and irredeemably bad. I wanted to like it, I even forced my self to playthrough to fabled "good part" and still couldn't stand the game or the characters. The thing is there's bits and pieces of things that aren't terrible in the game - but the battle system is terrible and the story while could be good is horrifically paced, and relied way too much on retarded melodrama.

Playing it was like watching a beautiful train derail and and crash in a spectacular fashion.

Civ 5, without a doubt the most poorly thought out, boring, un-fun strategy game I've ever played.

Enjoyed Civ 4 after playing 5, though...
