Title says it all. What is it and why?

Mines a pocket watch my grandfather owned. He died when I was only little but I'm told I remind people of him.

A Velvet Jacket, it used to be my mums but she gave it to me,
it doesn't really have much sentimental value, but it's just so smooth, good looking,
and i wear it pretty much everywhere.

My dog. I've been with him over 11 years.

But if you are talking about inanimate object... Then I guess my Diablo 2 and Neverwinter Nights collection - 2 sets of D2, one original D2:LoD, one copied D2:LoD (relax, it's not a pirate - I just accidentally destroyed original CD and box, so I had to rewrite CD-Key and burn iso of D2) and all Neverwinter Nights games + add-ons. And NwN2, but I don't count is as "most treasured possession".

Probably my bike. I picked it up in really rough shape from some unsavoury types down by the docks, for not much more than a song. Then I spent plenty of hours and a bit of cash getting it all spiffed up. Now I ride it ~100km/week, or more when the weather is nice, and it flies.

By that logic (the same logic I was planning on using, mind,) my friends are my most treasured possessions.
And I do own most of them, one way or another.
Pray tell how are the two related.

My computer, and then the computer that will replace it.
^^ That and my Grandfathers military identification booklet from World War 2. It embodies my love of history and the person I miss the most.

That's... quite difficult for me. A lot of items accumulate sentimental value far beyond their physical adventures when they're around me. Sketchbooks for example, especially once filled.

If I had to pick onethree, I'd say one Leather bound sketchbook, and my two violins.

The sketchbook was given to me as a birthday gift, and it has some of the nicest paper I've ever drawn on in it. It has, since then, become full of portraits and sketches, many of which have taken many hours to complete. The sentimental and artistic value of this is immeasurable. I wouldn't part with it willingly, that's for sure. The only time I've even come close to losing it I was almost in tears before I managed to back track and find the book lying on a sidewalk. It got many cuddles that afternoon.

One of my two precious violins was handed down from my Grandmother. I don't have a damn clue how old it is but it has some of the most mellow tones, and is wonderful to play. I think I might pick it up just after posting in fact. It's a lot of fun to play, and evokes much of my musical side at the same time. Also has a wonderful appeal for again, sentimental value.

The second violin is an electric. This baby is sexy as hell. Royal purple, sleek, clean lines, and a great sound. It's very metal. I fell in love the first time I saw it. It was so sweet to play, like the essence of art had become solid. Tangible. Musical. Mmmmmmm...

Guitar. My guitar and my very first snapped skateboard. I broke it many years ago (about 2) and I haven't skated it since. You cannot replace a board as loyal as that, it was always there for me when I needed it.

My computer is important to me, but only for what it can o for me. I'd gladly trade it in for a better one. Most material things don't mean much to me at all, and I don't have anything really old like that. Maybe my Grad ring?

Thats like some sort of space violin. Very awesome. The first one is pretty too (it evokes a sense of sophistication and general awesomeness).

Prized possession... hmm.... nothing as meaningful as the above, but I say my computer. Keeps me connected to everyone, has all my shiney music on it and generally keeps me alive.
