So I've been thinking about the songs that are played constantly day in and day out. The insanely popular ones you hear nearly every single time you leave the house.
Imagine, for some crazy ass reason, that your MP3 player/Computer/CD collection ended up in the hands of every music radio station in the country. And for some reason they were forced to play your entire collection on loop for a week.
Now you can guess that after a week regardless if the general public likes your music or not, the music is going to become popular and you will hear it nearly every time you go out.
I was just trying to grasp what it would be like to have your favorite music being played 24/7 in public like so many other popular songs are.
Well, Escapist, what do you think? What would it be like for you to have your music collection being played constantly rather than the current popular songs?

Also, first thread after being a member for 3 years. Weeee.

Well, I guess there'd be a boost in popularity for Pink Floyd, David Bowie and Radiohead.

I would be hunted down and purged for having all the Bartok Quartets being played round the clock. Well, that's not all I have, but I have a certain loathing for (most of) humanity, and I'd want to get the most agony from listeners as possible within the week. Hey, and the people who ended up liking it for some weird reason by the end of the week could be hunted with me, YAY!

Also, congrats on thy first thread.

Blast back to early 90's rock. Mother Love Bone, Malfunkshun, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, and so on.

How great would that be.

Never again would the words 'all metal is shit' be uttered, once they heard symphonic metal.

They would be all, "what is this magnificence?", and I would be all, "Nightwish, bitches."

Agreed. heads would explode if all we had was dubstep 24/7. I'm sure that is the genre you were thinking of too.

I would like it, considering that I don't like a lot of my favourite music because it's underground, I like it because I just happen to like it.

There are some negative sides to things I like becoming more popular, but overall I embrace it.

I can imagine an outrage when people suddenly hear Falco from every channel.

My music library sucks and I very much love it.

You wouldn't get through my music collection in a week.

But obviously everyone would love my music.

People would be confused from the eclectic nature of my iPod Touch. I have everything from The Beatles to Metallica to Kong in Concert.

Everybody will remember how great the Smashing Pumpkins are, and nobody shall ever dare to call My Chemical Romance 'emo' ever again.
