So since the PS4 is here and we probably won't be seeing too many more PS3 games, I'm trying to go through all the PS3 games I missed and I would love to get suggestions from this wonderful and sexy community. What are the PS3 games you absolutely loved and thing I should really play?

Side note, I don't like playing third or first person shooters on consoles and if a game isn't a console exclusive, I probably have it on PC. Also, I looooove RPGs and really anything with a good story.

Thank you very much for all and any input

None shooters? I personally don't own a PS3 (might do in the future), but one exclusive I see praised is Heavy Rain which isn't much of a 'game' really. There's also Demon's Souls which is one of the best and hardest RPGs ever, and I'd recommend just checking it out to see why everyone loves it.

For some reason there has been a lot of flak against this game but those people are wrong so listen to your good buddy tippy2K2!

The Last of Us
I was stupid-exited for this game and it did not disappoint me.

Excellent story, some very interesting mechanics and enemies, great characters, great voice-actors, and a very very very very pretty game. I would strongly recommend this game to anyone who has a PS3. In fact, if you don't have a PS3, this is the kind of game that you buy a system for. It is a third person shooter but for the most part, if you're in a firefight, you've probably done something wrong. :p

To a lesser extent, I would also recommend Naughty Dogs other big series Uncharted. However, with your unliking of third person shooters, this doesn't have a strong enough story to overtake what you probably don't like.

My second game of choice is:

Valkyria Chronicles
An absolutely excellent tactical shooter (think Final Fantasy Tactics if you got a gun). A good story keeps you going and a very interesting cast of characters. Another one I'd strongly recommend, especially if you have a tactical RPG itch that needs scratching.

Lastly, I haven't played it (yet, it's sitting on my shelf and will be broken out once XCOM is done) but I have heard Star Ocean: The Last Hope is very good as well.

Folklore.

It came out about a year after the PS3 launched and it's a great game which I think is underrated. Lucky for you it's an RPG and I think the story is pretty good. Plus the art in the game is just amazing, and so is the music in the game.

So, you should totally get it. :D

I've just realized that the only PS3 exclusive games I've played and enjoyed were God of War 3 and, Sony All-Stars Battle Royal. At the moment I'm playing New Vegas and I'm going to be going back into Dead Space which I haven't beaten yet but considered a better fit on the PS3 than the 360.

I played Ni No Kuni and, Heavy Rain but I have a pretty low opinion of both of those games...Puppeteer looks really good and I hope to play it soon and

OH WAIT

inFamous was awesome. So was Little Big Planet!

...

that's all I've got

As far as exclsuvives go (and in the vein of RPGs), you have Demon's Souls, a very hard and very rewarding action RPG; Ni No Kuni, which is that very cute turn-based game from Ghibli Studios and Disgaea 3 and 4, which are cartoony strategy RPGs with a very good sense of humor and addictive gameplay.

The God of War games are always fun.

I've heard very good things about The Last of Us, which I haven't played yet. Same with the Infamous games.

And of course the whole slew of experimental thatgamecompany games flOw, Flower and Journey.

No first or third person Shooters? Shiiit. Well, that takes off the modern Fallouts, Mass Effect, TLOU, Borderlands, All CoD games, The Saboteur, Uncharted, Just Cause 2, all GTAs, Far Cry 2 & 3, Red Dead Redemption...
OK Then- Skyrim, Assassin's Creed and InFamous. That's about all I can give you. Sorry. And the first 2 are multiplatform.

Just go out and buy Puppeteer, it is just awesome fun that everyone who owns a PS3 should play. I pretty much played the whole game with a smile on my face. Quite possibly my game of the year.

Also, despite the fact that they are third person shooters, you should pick up the Uncharted series, the Infamous games and Valkyria Chronicles (not actually a pure third person shooter, more of a tactical RPG).

Not that it's an exclusive, but I truly love Saints Row 2 (and 3, but especially 2) on PS3. The online is free, plus you can play over LAN as an alternative, with a friend of your choice. The graphics don't look like much up front, but the facial models can be tweaked sufficiently to make your character look decent, and there's so much more detail in #2.

There are more details for vehicles and clothing, not to mention way more activities. Plus boats (which aren't used enough in the game), secret islands, secret secrets, racing (driving, boating, and flying!), and so much more.

It's worth picking up on disc, but you can download the entire game, plus the multiple DLC packs, on PSN. And it's worth playing with a friend. The online/LAN games are also less buggy than in SR4.

*EDIT* Damn, I just realized you said you don't want third person shooters. In that case, I'll second the nomination for Heavy Rain, which is quite possibly the only PS3 game to take full advantage of the capabilities of the Sixaxis controller.

Not exclusives here, but still great fun if you own a PS3.

Dragon's Dogma
Dragon's Crown
Kingdoms of Amalur

Dragon's Dogma has probably given me close to 200 hours of play time value on it's own.

I know you said no third person but Red Dead Redemption and The Last of Us are real quality.

Had a look on the PS store? Journey, Flower, etc?

Shadow of the colossus HD for sure. And I'm gonna ignore the no 3rd person shooter thing for just one suggestion... Armored Core 5. Absolutely wonderful game. I love how it handles~

Oh, and Tales of Graces F is one of the BEST Tales games in the series. THAT is an RPG worth your time for sure

Get Journey. Then get other things. But first, get Journey.

If you didn't play them on PS2, I'd grab the Ico/Shadow of the Colossus collection. Two of my all time favorites. PSN also has the original Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, and Sly Cooper trilogies (a trilogy of trilogies, it seems), all of which are well worth your time and money. Platformers at their finest.

For PS3 era stuff, I'd recommend inFamous 2, Uncharted 2 (the other games in the serieses are good too, but those are the best, even if you don't like shooters I'd think you'd enjoy them), The Last of Us, and The Last Guardian hahaha I hate my life.

I don't know if you had a PS2, so I'll throw in the Sly Cooper, Ratchet & Clank, Jak and Daxter, God of War and Ico and Shadow of the Colossus HD collections.

As for PS3 games
Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX (also 2.5 next year)
Metal Gear Solid 4 (might as well pick up the Legacy Collection)
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time
The Ratchet & Clank Future trilogy (and the epilogue Into the Nexus)
Hatsune Miku PROJECT DIVA F (depends on how you feel about the music)
Katamari Forever
flOw, Flower and Journey
Tokyo Jungle
inFAMOUS, inFAMOUS 2 and inFAMOUS: Festival of Blood (available in a collection)
Demon's Souls
Asura's Wrath

Yeah Puppeteer is my personal recommendation as well. The game came out late in the PS3's life time so I would imagine many people would miss out on this really amazing game. It's a same too, because it really is a gem. Keep in mind though that it is kinda more for kids, but if that doesn't bother you, differently buy it.

Journey is also an easy recommendation. A must buy.

Let's see what else...
Try any of the Rachet and Clank games are fun.
Sly Cooper: Thevies in Time is great, espically if you played other games in the series.
If you can look pass the Uncharted series as shooters, they are all really oild games.
Oh, Little Big Planet if you haven't had the chance to play those already.
Heavy Rain can be good and if you like that you might also like Beyond: Two Souls.
Playstation All Stars is a pretty decient fighter, though not as good as Smash Bros.

Tokyo Jungle is one of my personal favorites, but it is not for everybody.
Other indies I would recommend would include Rain and 3D Dot Game Heroes but not as much as I would Journey.

Well, lets see...
just to go after lesser known, lesser mentioned stuff.
Dynasty warriors 7 Empires.
Way of the Samurai 4

These games kinda blend action with RPG elements.

The Last of Us was great, a must buy. The story and the execution were brilliant, and I've never seen a developer use the gameplay to tell the story in such an effective manner before. It's a "stealth shooter" I suppose, but it's really so much more tha the sum of its parts, even if you hate shooters.

The Walking Dead (by telltale). A brilliant must play narrative.

I'll mention Valkyria Chronicles if you like JRPG's and strategy games. That game doesn't get enough love.

You like RPGs, huh? May I present to you Resonance of Fate, a wonderful RPG with gunplay, great characters, and badass acrobatics? It's really high-quality stuff; shame it's not more well known.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned Disgaea 3 and 4. I can't say I've actually played either one (planning on playing 4), but I've heard plenty of good things about them.
