I just got back from Star Wars Burlesque [http://www.kontraband.com/videos/21423/Star-Wars-Burlesque/] and here were my running thoughts: Oh gimme a break! How is this anything like Star Wars? Since when do Wookies use spears like that? Based on official canon Wookies are mea- oh hey boobs!

Being The Escapist and most likely full of stereotypes, I was just wondering what your 'nerd/geek' moment is, feel free to define that however you'd like.

Could it be you only speak in references? Perhaps you once ditched a partner to go play games with your friends? Were you the only one to laugh when the 'Canteena Song' was played in Paul?

I set up one of my guy friends late last year, we met through a mutual friend and grew close through playing Halo together. If you were to ask most girls, he'd easily be a >8/10 - he is attractive, has great fitness, funny, intelligent, successful (he is a law/social science graduate) and a gentlemen by every definition of the word. I tried to set him up with my other friend is your girl next door - funny, sweet, a bit dorky but always beautiful inside and out, but she is in no way a nerd, in fact she likes Gray's Anatomy - blergh!- anyway, I tried to talk him up to her, when she asked how I knew him I said we were both gamers. She rolled her eyes and said no. Then I tried to explain he was the New South Wales state champion in Halo 2, that did nothing to persuade her. Of course being me, I went ahead and introduced him to her anyway and 8 months later everyone is certain they're going to get married.

I had a conversation with her about two weeks ago and she said that she didn't expect him to be the way he was based on my initial description. I then realized right then I probably should've mentioned he use to be a model. But then at the time I didn't think that fact was important =)

So what's your story?

I reference memes frequently. Very few of my friends get it when I do. It's very awkward to have to explain the joke to people who don't even understand the description.

I am a living Golden Sun: The Lost Age walkthrough, evertime me and my friends talk about that game I can name any attack/location/item/etc in the whole game.
Feels pretty cool/weird.

Every moment of my entire life since dad introduced me to Tomb Raider. <:

Nah, but really, I include geeky/nerdy things in my every day conversation with, well, everyone. Or at least as much as I can without confusing people or getting them annoyed at me. *Shrug*

I reference RvB constantly as well as other movies/video games and have a star wars battle scene on my dashboard of Donut, my car. And wear nerdy shirts out swing dancing. And in the summer call my bedroom Mount Doom and my house Mordor. Not to mention the video game posters in my room and my PS2 being decorated with Star Wars miniatures. Does the list really need to go on? Oh and I apparently repel nerdy/geeky/gamer guys for some strange reason *shrugs*

Hey, this exact thing happened to me earlier today, except I was the only one who actually noticed...

As for my own nerd/geek moments I have many, really. Top of the list is probably that I've started programming my own roguelike for fun. Just playing roguelikes in the first place is pretty nerdy, so I have no idea how deep into geek territory this takes me.

Other than that I might have said watching My Little Pony, but I'm not certain if that is geeky or just plain weird...

A friend got me legit Batarangs for my birthday.

There are little holes in my bedroom wall from where I've been throwing them.

On the day of my senior prom, DnD 4th edition was dropping a preview campaign at my local comic shop, about 2 hours before prom. So two friends and I (including my date) went to the preview in full prom attire - two floor length gowns, one with a slit to the hip and an open corset back, and a zoot suit, complete with hat.
Even all the nerds there at the preview made fun of us for not getting laid or drunk before prom. But it was worth it.

BATARANGS ARE SO COOL! But I couldn't think of a legit reason to buy them after I spent money on my balisong.

Having used to play Runescape when I was younger.
Haha, those were good times...

The fact that I just bought all the DBZ box sets on dvd. So I could attempt to watch it all in one day with my friend. So we could try to cover the stinging fact that we're growing up.

Paul was exactly what I was going to talk about. I went to see it with a guy who's slightly nerdy and another guy and a girl who aren't at all. I was the only one to laugh at the Canteena song. I was also the only one to get "No, Boomer, it's forbidden". I love every second of that film. Most nerdy thing I did, though, was when Sigourney Weaver (is that a spoiler?) turned up at the end, I shouted, in a full cinema: "oh my god, it's RIPLEY!!" and started to clap. I looked around and everyone was staring at me...

My flatmate and I generally talk about loads of nerdy things (sci-fi and comic books, mostly) and, when we realise just how nerdy we're being, one of us sighs or laughs at just how painfully nerdy we are. He and I also tried to convince one of our friends, who's last name is Pitt, to call his first son 'Lazarus'. Yup, neeeerdy

In the MLP group I argued with someone for over an hour on whether Celestia was an evil overlord or not. That made me laugh when I realized what I was doing. Another time is that my final project for wood-shop could be anything we wanted to make. I decided to make a replica of link holding up the tri-force. I got made fun of for that for a few months after that. Was still worth it.

I remember sitting in the theater when I first saw the trailer for Watchmen. I wasn't sure what it was a trailer for....until I saw the Owl Ship float out of the water, and then I let out a high pitched 'EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! ohmygodhmygod!!'

The confused look I got from my date still makes me giggle.

Hahaha on the day of this really formal cruise I was in a tuxedo painting Warhammer figurines at my local Games workshop while my girlfriend at the time was frantically buying the last of her outfit.

When my sister called in sick for work, I decided to skip uni as well and we spent two days watching every single episode of Fullmetal Alchemist. Needless to say by the end of it I thought I was made of metal, and my sister almost slipped into a coma.

Also loving these stories so far =)
