I don't believe that everyone has OCD. I feel that most of the time people claim that they think they have OCD it is usually to grab attention. I do believe, however, that most people have some kind of compulsion.

For me, everything I do has to be balanced and even. If I twist something to the right, it must be twisted to the left. I need to chew an even amount of times with both sides of my mouth or I will go crazy. Most things need to be multiples of five or ten or I get anxious.

If I start a movie series, I must finish it.
Watched all LOTR, Star Wars and every Harry Potter to date.
I watched Twilight out of curiosity (to see why people said it was so bad) and I now must watch every one.
I managed to break that cycle - I read something sufficiently dull that I had no desire to read the rest of the series. I just can't remember what it was now...

I'm far more concerned by my insomnia than by any minor compulsions that I may have picked up.

I do not. One of my ex-girlfriends may have had it. She would spend literally hours checking light switches to make sure they were all off. At least three times a night before going to sleep.
That reminds me of something I came across in a psychology past paper I was using for revision. It was about some guy who was always late to work because he would check he'd turned all the lights off.

I don't think my compulsions are to the degree that OCD is given as, I'll check stuff in a certain order like emails but that's probably because I'm systematic, by doing it in a specific order I know I won't forget something.
I have other quirks but I have a reason for all of them.

Checking my bag constantly when I'm out. I have a gripping fear of losing my purse or something important :|
I don't like odd numbers either.

Everyone is OCD on some level
I hate statements like this.
Everyone is not OCD on some level. That sentence itself doesn't even make sense, but regardless of that, it's not true. Think about it, if everyone had it, it wouldn't be a disorder. Everyone has obsessions and compulsions but, no, not to the degree of OCD.
The point of this comment is that everyone has little things that bug them that don;t make sense, not litteral ocd, seriously...

the sound of rubbing paper on dirt
I know what he meant. It needed correction, especially because some people actually with the disorder could take serious offence.
Then let THEM do it. In addition, its become part of modern slang and its meaning is understood, and the term was not meant offensively in the first place, someone taking offense to this is being a tad oversensative, whether or not they have to disorder.

Well since he used the term in a way that didn't even make sense, it clearly isn't completely understood.
I'm not taking offense to this, but a lot of people can, so it's worth giving a little bit of education to try and help someone avoid this, isn't it?
