HA!

My opinion is that it looks really, really pretty. And really, really dumb. Might be good for a one night stand, but definitely terrible for anything longer. I have a feeling that they're panicking right now at Crytek to revamp the gameplay after EVERYBODY shat on the trailer's QTE's. So it's hard to judge right now. They could end up doing something cool and interesting. Highly doubt it, though.

My one question is why is the protagonist actually named "Ryse"? I hope to gosh that's a nickname, because it's absolutely ridiculous to think Ryse is a Roman name.

Other than that, the game looks totally stupid, IMnsHO

I can't get over Yerli being like "Sorry, not enough demand for Timesplitters 4", then releases a new franchise that looks really boring.

I feel slightly better because apparently he's been trying to make Ryse for a while so it must mean something to him.
The linearity and scriptedness of it looks so boring. How exactly are you supposed to be commanding your army if it's a default part of playing that section of the level?

My first impression of it. "Ohh hey, a new game...which has ancient greek theme...yay...". Not a terrible fan of ancient greek as you might expect, think it's...a bit overused in the media, I would appreciate other major points in history being used as the setting for video games.

Uhh what? Ohh yeah, the game! Ehh...gears of war except with swords and looks terribly scripted with...nothing going for it? That's my take on it atleast.
Perhaps you'd prefer Rome, as the game is actually about Ancient Rome. That doesn't make it any good, of course, but still. Rome is way better than Greece, as everyone knows.

I read a little while ago that the Qtes have been changed
When you enter into an execution state, we are going to remove the button prompts that you saw in this version. And they are going to be replaced with visual and audio prompts that people are going to have to learn over time. We have like a hundred executions in the game.
This isn't very clear, do you have to press any button at a specific time?, is it the same thing but without the buttons on-screen?
It seems like it is a quick time event by another name

Apart from the quick-time events, i can't say much about a game that hasn't been released, the only thing we have is a trailer, the Danny Boyle movie Trance had an uninteresting trailer, but it was a pretty great movie, it might just be a pretty good game, emphasis on might

I actually thought it looked pretty cool. I don't personally mind QTE's and I liked the setting. The only thing I was disappointed by was the fact that in the Xbone conference at E3 I saw the same kill animation repeated 3 or 4 times. I am hoping that it's because it might have been early game footage so they didn't have many different animations up. But that's not highly likely.

I get that people are mad about it, as it really didn't look to offer much in terms of real gameplay. It almost certainly won't be worth whatever price they put on next-gen games, and I doubt I'll be getting a next-gen console anyway, but I personally thought it looked like a game that I'd get.

I lost interest in the first few seconds of the trailer. Explosions, mindless violence, manly man stuff all 'round. Yup, dudebro action game #604.

Just can't bring myself to care.

I think I read on Kotaku that it basically plays itself:

You press the button for the QTE, and you execute the man.

You press the button for the QTE too late, and you execute the man.

You press the wrong button for the QTE, and you execute the man.

You press nothing at all, and you execute the man.

Oh yeah, and this wasn't a bug. It was a feature, to help the players not get angry with the game... It just sounds like an absolute load of shit. I mean, why is the player even necessary?

EDIT: Found it:

Well DURR for me not putting in the right history period, it's a little hard to distinguish for me considering that both periods are really close to each other on the time scale, happend somewhere in the same world region and the culture feels sort of similar for me. Game is still shit though.

Also while you might be correct in the fact that Rome is better then Greece, we all know that the best time period happend in 1000. Viking period, best period(I'm Icelandic ok, Vikings are big here).

Doesnt look worth the full price cost of the game. Gamers want to game, not press a button to see more story. Then all your doing is watching.....not really participating. How many people will pay £50 for this game? Its one of those games that i think will last around 5 hours. But then its Crytek....beautiful graphics with attention to detail but average gameplay.

Ryse looked terrible, beyond terrible. A bland, scripted, QTE infested, shiny game that was wheeled out to show how pretty games are on the Xbox One.
Had the same thought as you after watching the second QTE kill in the trailer, it didn't get any better from there either.
Used the rest of it as a quick water break during the Xbone conference.

Oh god, it's worse than I could have possibly imagined.
I mean, is that even a game anymore?

Edit: Just remembered that this game isn't just QTEs, it has basic combat and movement so I'll take back what I said.

It looks like a Modern Military Shooter in a Roman mod.

But with added quick-time events for every single kill.

Grey/dirty, bland, generic, obviously showing your faction as the aggressive invasive force against vastly inferior enemies, from what we've seen has almost nothing unique to it.
