It made me really sad... until I realized that in Bender's Big Score that Fry goes back in time and stays with Seymour until he is flash fossilized. Then I can watch it without tears!

Pretty sad, but in my opinion, nothing hits harder than this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxulantPiXI&feature=related] when it comes to sad episodes of comedy shows.

I've never cried because of a show, but this episode got me the closest I've ever been. Love the episode but it definitely makes me sad.

Really really sad, it never made me cry, but I always needed a few moments after watching it to regain myself.

I saw this episode once or twice and now I refuse to watch it because it's so damn depressing. That doesn't mean it's bad, but I don't want to watch something that makes me and my brothers all bawl our eyes out.

The only other thing that can do that is this horrible children's book 'I'll Always Love You', which is about a boy and his dog growing up together, and the dog dies. (my mother got that book to make my older brothers feel better over the loss of their dog, but surprise surprise it made them feel a billion times worse.)

A pretty sad ending but I think the one about the 7 leaf clover and his brother is way more sad

but both great episodes.
Yeah, that was even more sad. They're both sad however.

It reminded me a lot of the companionship between me and my first dog. I loved her so that I hated having to put her down especially after all we had been through (she had a fight with cancer and won). I remember as a kid saying that if I had 3 wishes one of my wishes would be that my dog would live as long as I would. But yeah OT: Definitely one of the best episdoes showing the effects of friendship on people.

When the cyborgs finally invade, I'll use this episode as the test as to whether they are human or not.

Actually, this episode is what makes Futurama so awesome for me. Think of the balls it takes to set yourself up as a wacky comedy show, and then go out of your way to tell a deeply personal and remarkably human tale of friendship, loss, loyalty, and mortality. Also, between this episode, "Luck of the Fryish," and "Fishfull of Dollars" Fry's character has been so well established and his back story so detailed that you always know exactly who he is and what he's about in any situation.

Compare this to, say, Family Guy (which is okay in it's own right), which is so eager to throw story and characterization under the bus for the sake of a joke that, if you took everything as canon, the series is populated by a bunch of serial murderers and drug addicts who hate everyone around them, but not as much as they hate themselves. It almost more cool to see Family Guy stick to continuity since it's that much more rare, but it just exacerbates the unreality of it all.

I actually watched this last week.

It made me cry and then give my dog a hug.

It was touchy but not sad. It may just be that I am a cat person. I found Luck of the Fryish better and still makes me cry every time. It was still fantastic though. Although, I think Bender's Big Score kind of took away from the episode.

Thanks for bringing back the flood of memories from that show, easily the saddest thing I had ever watched at the time, great episode and great show.

It was a bit of a sad episode, but on the contrary there was episodes like The Luck of the Fryish have the same feeling I think, with the happier undertone.

I will say it exactly as David Cohen, executive producer of the show does in the DVD commentary.

If you dont cry at the end of Jurassic Bark, you're a cold hearted bastard.
Even robots cry at the end. No being, sentient or not, cannot cry at the end of Jurassic Bark.
In the words of xkcd: "We'd use that episode of Futurama with Fy's dog, but even spambots cry at that."

I don't cry at it much any more (depends on my mood), but the first time... lots of tears. The music, in my opinion, was absolutely perfect, I once looked it up to listen without the scene... still got teary.

Yet, I've heard one of the newer episodes (The Late Phillip J. Fry, I believe?) was even sadder. Damn inability to watch the new episodes is preventing me from seeing this, though.
