So, while in the pub earlier on this evening, I had a pretty fun conversation with my friends about the following subject:

Could you date your opposite gender self?

That is to say, I'm a guy, so, could I date a girl who looked like a female version of me, with the exactly the same interests etc etc.

A couple of my friends said they could, citing reasons such as - We would know what to get each other for birthdays anniversaries etc - We wouldn't argue about which film we wanted to see at the cinema.

The rest of us (myself included) said they couldn't, citing reasons such - It would be too predictable - You have to put up with someone else doing all your little bad habits and annoyances.

My exact argument was that "I'm the most selfish, lazy, arrogant and annoying person I know, why would I would want to date someone with these traits.

Your opinions?

Huh...we could probably date, but I doubt it would work out, and we'd most likely wind up being close friends. Possibly with benefits, if either of us overcomes the discomfort to ask.

Then again, just how similar would we be? I can see sharing some of the same physical qualities and a lot of the same interests, but different hormones and gender acculturation (being raised as a boy or girl) could still lead to two very different people.

Actually my freind and I were discussing this the day before school closed. I said no. For one thing, due to the fact that we would have almost excactly the same genes. It would be like dating your sister. Plus the usual assortment of reasons. I'm lazy, a jerkass, annoying, it would suck to live with me.

Mine would be fucking annoying after a while. Sure, having someone who'd know exactly what I was referring to when I'd make random film quotes would be nice, but no, the constant giggling and singing outloud would get irritating. Plus they'd have a huge ass - and not the good kind either.
