Your overrated and underrated games?

Some people say Donkey Kong Country is overated but that doesn't stop me loving it. What games do you think deserve more or less credit than they got. For me I hated Oblivion (oh so dull Fallout 3 is much better!) but loved Amplitude (a rare game that was basically guitar hero without the guitar and it was awesome) What are your choices?

But MW2 is despised by an incredibly large number of people and Kingdom Hearts has been both critically and commercially successful.

I don't believe I follow your logic.

OT: Overrated: Red Dead Redemption.

The world felt incredibly shallow, and I didn't care for the story or the characters.

Underrated: How did Nanosaur not become the most successful gaming franchise ever?

Overrated: Games that ask me to forgive shitty gameplay in favor of being artsy, whether it be graphics, exploration, story, witty hipster satire or whatever.

Underrated: Perfect Dark: Zero. I can't say anything for the story mode because I've never played it (I'm all about the multiplayer with FPS games), and yeah the aiming is a bit sticky, but, I love being able to set up huge bot wars, and not have to worry about my friends having free time if I wanna play.

Would quite like to know which ones you didn't like personally I love that artsy stuff even if it sometimes craries a game. Rez is arty but amazing, Whereas something like the bit trip series is still good but really added to just cos of the art style. Same with okami good game made great by the art style. If a game has one really great aspect it usually lets it vecome a good game. Take puzzle quest (addictive) and i played a game with zombies in it (funny).

Playing okami for the first time a the moment love it. Your probably going to crucify be for this but I think 3d zelda games are overated as well as 2d FFantasys (apart from 6, 6 is insane)

I'll toss my hat in with Okami for underrated, as well as Beyond Good & Evil.

Overrated? I'd say Halo, that piece of shit story can rot in hell.

Overrated: CoD4: MW. I loved CoD 2 so much that this just seemed like a massive let down in terms of singleplayer.

Underrated (by non-critics at least): Far Cry 2. No idea what people's problem with this game is. As far as I can tell, the console versions sucked. I don't know about this having only played it on the pc. And on there, trust me, it's awesome. And if you're thinking about crying DRM dont bother. The last Ubi patch removes it all - you don't even need the dvd in the drive.

Shadow of the Colossus is the only one I have that I've actually played. I don't pay attention to things I don't think I'll like so they go forgotten.

Overrated: any GTA or Halo game (I just really don't like them and I have tried them)

Underrated: I'll agree with a lot of the other people, Okami was amazing. Also Conker's Bad Fur Day and the first 2 Shadow Hearts games.

overrated has to be modern warfare 2. it's not a bad game, but it is overrated.
underrated, maybe the saboteur. i'be just played through it and it's pretty good, but nobody ever talks about it.

Underrated: Deadly Premonition.

Mirror's Edge (Best 3D platformer this gen), Heavenly Sword (much better than GoW3), ICO & Shadow of the Colossus, Mercenaries (best sandbox game ever, the sequel sucked though), Resonance of Fate, MAG (Best FPS this gen), Midnight Club 2 (best arcade racer ever), Hitman 2 (one of the best stealth games ever), SHADOW OF DESTINY (one of the best game stories on the PS2)

I might be being really stupid but name another fp 3d paltformer? Also i actually played hitman 2 as my first hitman and personally didn't think it was all that special. Team Ico are also amazing but although they weren't massively popular they were very well recieved I mean go on any thred on the escapist and i bet you someone will say either/or are good

Underrated: Jet set radio, Mercenaries, Shadowrun, Close Combat: First to Fight, BlazBlue, Men of War, the SSX games, and Timeshift. Especially Timeshift.
