Ok here is another go with only video game characters since I failed earlier.
1. Isaak - Unreal 2
2. Psycho - Crysis
3. A Red Mage - FFXI
4. Casper Orillian - Freelancer
Reasoning:
Isaak would be the mechanic and modify the weapons and armor. Psycho would be useful for a soldier where the red mage would be able to infiltrate along with Psycho and heal / Raise him /support. As for Casper Orillian... he has the cloakable battleship.
There, four different game characters from four different games working for the survival of humanity against space terrorists and whatnot.
I was thinking of adding a Tosc in place of the Red Mage because of the added firepower, however, I think the utility of the red mage pulls through... and you really do not want to give your enemies the singularity cannon when they shoot the Tosc's arm off.

one can use electricity, one is a badass one is very fast and the other has snakes growing from his back. in case you dont know con is fast, dante is badass, cole mcgraph has electricity and jacky has the snakes.

I'm making mine a five man band, so I can fill all the cliche slots.
We need someone who's well-rounded, reliable, and most importantly, has leadership skills.
Party Leader - Soldier, from Team Fortress 2
Someone maybe a bit morally gray, possibly with sneaky qualities, the team's second-in-command. The dude who complements the leader, and can take over leadership, for short periods of time.
Right Hand Man - Max from the Sam and Max games, and comics.
Now we need brawn. There will always be a need for raw power. If we can find someone dumb, all the better.
The Big Guy - Minsc from Baldur's Gate 1&2
Time for the smart guy. We obviously need someone to do all the thinking. A degree isn't necessarily needed, but an understanding and an interest in technology is a must.
The Brain - Ork Mek Boy from Warhammer 40,000
Which leaves us only with The Chick. Someone for moral guidance, and a possible love interest, but with the main function of getting into trouble. Probably not very good at fighting, or pretty much anything.
The Damsel in Distress - Guybrush Threepwood from the Monkey Island series.
I just realized I've probably got the oldest team here. Apart from the dude who's team only consisted of Jesus.
