You are my new favorite person. I grew up on the Pixies, long before Grunge hit it big.
I sing "Hey" to my wife when I'm feeling romantic. (You would think "la la love you, but no... my wife is weird.)
Also constitutes as perhaps one of the greatest music videos of all time.
Gotta love Hey. I always thought if my life were a movie, that'd be my sexytime theme.
Also, I can't say I grew up on them, I really just discovered them a few years back in high school. Between them and Primus, I always felt as though I was born 15 years too late.
It was truly a great time in music, and it seems like we were the last of the free teens. I look at the oppression kids today are under and it makes me so very sad.
Children 1-6 never seeing their parents and growing up in day care, 6-12 not being allowed out of the house alone for fear of stranger danger, and once they turn 13 its as if the entire country thinks of them as criminals and mass murders in training.
Kids are no longer allowed to be kids at any stage of their life. Watching my sister inlaw grow up I have sent he system just utterly fail, sending kids to court diversion and drug and alcohol counciling for having an empty, wash out beer can in her school bag.
Add on top of that, rebellion has been commercialized via hot topic and MTV so they can't even lash out against the system without becoming apart of it.
My heart goes out to you, growing up in this current generation.
Anyway, enough of that rot.
If you like the Pixies, you may like a band called "Mclusky."
They are an English band and were sort of a cross between The Pixies, Primus and Cake.
They actually recorded with Steve Albini, who was the Sound Engineer for The Pixies, Nirvana and The Jesus Lizard, so they have that "Sound."
