I know this is a common topic, but I just kinda wanna jam with the tech heads;D
What are your specs and what do you have to say about them? Is gaming the only intensive activity you use it for? How old is your build? Are you thinking of upgrading any time soon? How?

I'll start:

Case: Corsair Carbide 500r (in white)
Motherboard: ASRock Z77 extreme4
CPU: Intel I7 3770K (multithreading)
RAM: Corsair Dominator GT (DDR3, 32GB (8GB x 4)
GPU: Geforce GTX 660TI 2gig
Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda STBD3000100 (3TB)
PSU: Corsair Professional Series HX650
Optical Drive: LG Blu Ray... something or other...
Moniter: Samsung 27? LED Monitor Series 3
OS: Windows 7 Professional 64bit

I love the case. It's got huge side panel fan that, honestly, could handle all the cooling on its own most of the time. It comes with two more smaller ones in the front and and one in the back, and all except the back fan have built in white lights that look sweet, plus there's room for two more in the top, and two own the bottom, totally 7 small fans and 1 super fan, potentially.
it has two dettachable cages of drive shelves up front, and all of those shelves can be taken out too. It could be a little quieter, but it's up to me to seek out quieter fans.

The mother board is a little small. Not a problem once it's up and running, but it really was fiddly to set up. I wouldn't pick it again though, it's got some needlesly round about cord set up, plus there are two USB ports on the back that just plum don't work.

Graphics card is fine for now, but after the Xbone reveal, I'm gearing up to do a lot more gaming on my computer, so I'll probably upgrade soon (suggestions?) and when I do, I'll probably up my power supply to HX750w to be safe.

Hard drive is fine but it didn't come with its own bloody SATA cable! WTF?!

The RAM cards are godly! They've go their own heat sinks! They are awfully tall though. I've got a Dark Knight heat sink over my CPU that has its own fan, but it wouldn't fit over the RAM, so I had to move it to the otherside of the heat sink so it sucks air through from the back rather than push it through from the front.

Got no complaints about the processor, but I do a lot of 3d rendering, so I might have been a bit better with a 3900 series, but that would require a different mother board (which it turns out would have been a good idea anyway, so...)

I do a lot of work in Maya, Zbrush, Photoshop, etc, so I'm looking to get a second moniter at some point. The model I've got it great in terms of frame rate while gaming.

And lastly, I am very interested in SSDrives, but I'm waiting for the price to come down.

I joined the "Glorious PC Master Race" lol, back in March of last year after years of playing on consoles because I was in school and couldn't really afford the initial build cost. I spent about a month just doing research on all the different common PC components, where to buy, what to buy, etc... Really enjoying it since then and with the way the Xbone is looking I might get a PS4 or just stick to PC gaming come November.

Case: Corsair Carbide 500r (black)
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)
Motherboard: ASUS P8P67 REV 3.0
CPU: Intel i5 2500K @ 3.3 GHz
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws 8 GB (2x4 GB @ 1600)
GPU: Geforce GTX 680 2GB
HD: WD Black (1TB)
PSU: Corsair HX 750W (80+ Gold Cert.)
Optical Drive: LG 24x DVD... nothing fancy
Monitor: ASUS VS248H-P Black 24" 1080p HDMI LED LCD

At the time I thought I did a pretty good job for my first build. That being said, now that I have a better understanding of the whole shabang I would have had the OS installed to a small SSD (say 60 GB), maybe another SSD just for games, I would have gone with the i5-3750k and maybe a 120 Hz monitor if I could have found a reasonable priced one... Then again my TV is 120 Hz so whatever. Already installed an H100i CPU closed loop water cooler and Dealzon posted earlier today a deal on Samsung's 256 GB 840 Pro SSD.

PC gaming is where it's at! I had a lot of fun building mine and I'd recommend it to anyone who's a little worried about the next-gen consoles.

Case: Cooler Master Storm Enforcer
Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth Z77
CPU: Intel I7-3770 Ivy Bridge (3.4 GHz)
RAM: G.SKILL Ares 16GB (2x 8GB) DDR3 1333
GPU: Geforce GTX 640
HDD: Kingston Hyperx 3k SSD (120GB)
PSU: Corsair HX750
Optical Drive: Some CD reader, don't know specifics.
Monitor: Gateway HX2000
OS: Windows 7 home premium 64bit

I use this mostly for gaming since I built it for doing that. The case is good enough for me, it's not too big but it does what it's supposed to. I love the motherboard since it is really good and has thermal armor which makes it look badass. The Ram isn't as good as I wanted but it works very well regardless. I will be upgrading the graphics card to the GTX 660 after awhile, I honestly wanted to build it and the graphics card was the last part. I just bought a mid-range card and it does do pretty much every game at ultra so it's good enough.

I run my OS on my SSD so my OS loads really fast. I pretty much only have the OS on that one and I store my data on other drives. My monitor isn't the best but it works so I can't really complain, and I didn't buy it so it's good for free. All in all it's the first computer I ever built and I am quite happy with it. It runs everything that I want and runs very well so it was worth the price I put into it.

I got my first proper gaming PC a week or so ago, enjoying it so far. Didn't build it myself, got it built for me from cougar-extreme here in the UK but it only cost £448, including a delivery charge. I know I could've got it cheaper if I built it myself but I didn't really wanna build my first gaming PC myself, otherwise I'd still be making it now. :p

CPU: AMD A8 x4 5600K 3.6Ghz
Motherboard: Asrock FM2 A55M- 2 DDR3 2400
RAM: DDR3 Kingston 1333 (2x4) 8Gbs
GPU: ATI HD 7750 1024MB
HD: 500GB SATA
PSU: CiT 600W Gold Edition PSU
Optical Drive: 22x Samsung SATA
Case: CiT Jupiter Midi Tower Gaming Case
Monitor: 21 inch TV that I got a few years ago for my Xbox, does the job well.
OS: Windows 8 64bit, which started as a hindrance and quickly became something I learned to work with. Not too bad, just set it to desktop mode as soon as you can and it's good to go.

Not the best gaming PC ever but it does the job for me. I'll probably upgrade the GPU some when down the line, probably around Christmas or so, when I can get the cash together though. I like the case though, it's got enough ventilation and space in it so I can upgrade a bit and keep a good air flow going through it.

Overall, no complaints with it, although I'm sure someone will tell me what a moron I am for getting a sub par PC. :D

I build my PCs on an 18 month cycle, I build a machine with the latest chipsets and sockets and get good hardware for the time. After 18 months or so the higher end CPUs for those sockets are cheaper so I upgrade the CPU and GPU, this way I can always play the latest games at full spec (or damn close to it). The bulk of the PC like the Motherboard lasts three years, I build in a such a way so all I need to do to upgrade is change the CPU and GPU. Currently I am on the Ivy Bridge architecture, it will be time for the upgrade by the end of this year.

Edited and updated 14 May, 2014

I did my upgrade bit by bit over the last few months and also went for a chassis transplant, replaced the monitor and bought some new HIDs too. I will need to upgrade the storage next but after spending so much it will have to wait a while as the current storage is tolerable, I reused a few parts like the mainboard and DRAM

The whole transplant and upgrade was fairly pricey but the increase in performance over my last build is fairly significant, the new case is good looking as well. As soon as I saw one with that huge transparent side panel I had to get one, its far more attractive than my old Antec 1200. There are two Corsair AF 140 LED fans at the front as intakes with an addtional Corsair AF 120 LED fitted on the bottom intake, at the top of the case I have a BitFenix 200mm Spectre Pro as the main exhaust.

The radiator for the Corsair H90 AIO is fitted to the rear case exhast and is exhausting the air out the case. The Noctua NF-A14 fan is under PWM control from the CPU fan header on the motherboard, overall the case has a slight postive airflow so air is forced out of all the grills and gaps rather than being pulled into the case and pulling dust in too. CPU cooling is superb even with this fairly small AIO, during burn tests it hits about 60°C and in games hovers around 45-50°C.

The positive airflow means the graphics card has plenty of air ro work with and I have no issues with GPU Boost 2.0 throttling, the card is surprisingly quiet too and even though its the noisiest part in the build its still quieter than the last build with seven case fans.

The PSU draws its air in from outside the case with a filtered intake at the bottom of the case, it exhausts its air straight out the back and has little impact on the airflow and temperatures in the rest of the case. It also has a "Zero RPM fan mode" which means its passively cooled until it reaches 40% of its maximum load, which is why I bought and fitted what some may consider to be an oversized PSU. Most of the time the PSU fan doesn't run, it only really starts running during gaming.

Graphics card is fine for now, but after the Xbone reveal, I'm gearing up to do a lot more gaming on my computer, so I'll probably upgrade soon (suggestions?) and when I do, I'll probably up my power supply to HX750w to be safe.
Only thing you really can consider without spending an absolute mint would be a second 660Ti for SLI.
What's an "absolute mint" here? Cuz I'd be willing to spend a fair bit if it'll last.

Current price for the GTX 780 in Australia is $750-$850, but in the US, it's approximately $650, so if you got one of those, presumably you'd be set for a while. However, you'd still have to switch your PSU.

If you're ok with not upgrading for a short while, I recommend the new GPU series from AMD Radeon, the HD 9000 (coming later this year) and it's top chip, the HD 9970.

But dat 650W might hold you back.

Or if it's gold rated, it might not. I'm currently running SLI GTX 580s off an 850, so...

Oh, and this wouldn't be a PC specs thread without my party piece photo, would it?

My 2008 rig is starting to show its age, and if I were to do it again I'd make different choices, but it's still a solid machine.

Case: Clevo M860TU (That's right, it's a laptop)
Motherboard: Whatever came stock in the Clevo.
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo P9500 @2.53GHz
RAM: 4GBs (2x2GB) (Can't recall if it's DDR2 or DDR3.)
GPU: NVIDIA 9800m GT
Hard Drive: 300GB 5200RPM
PSU: Battery life is an underwhelming 2 hours or so.
Optical Drive: DVD-R, whatever.
Monitor: 1680 by 1050 in a 15" frame
OS: Windows Vista Professional 64bit (I don't care enough to upgrade)

It can still play most games I throw at it on medium-to-high settings. I'm just worried because it's starting to run a bit hot.

i5 3470
4gb Ram
2500 INTEL HD?? I think
Gigabyte motherboard (build in wireless)

Thinking about getting a new GFX card (GTX 780) and Mobo/CPU(intel i7 4770K) within this year (or next), when I get the money. Mostly because I got a bigger screen and the old Mobo has to restart when doing cold boots and yes I have played a lot around with the BIOS to fix it but to no avail.

I think my PC definitely has the best specs out of all of yours!

Dual Core - 2.2GHz
2GB RAM
320GB Hard Drive
ATI Radeon HD 2400 Pro
CD/DVD Drive

Top that!
