It would have the depth of Daggerfall, the intuitive UI of Deus Ex, open and free-roaming, no cutscenes, little voice-acting (with all dialogue in text, kinda like Morrowind), large focus on stealth, and would be a PC exclusive game to avoid contardness

Actually, I think there have been a few games that have come pretty close to my definition of perfect (I won't actually define it, so try to hazard a guess based on the games I list, if you really must)... including: Portal (naturally), Left 4 Dead (it is the only online multiplayer game that I've played that was actually fun), Shadow of the Colossus, Silent Hill 2, Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed (okay, this one is the furthest one down from my idea of perfection, but it gets enough things right to be on this list), and Day of the Tentacle.

Mine would be the zombie game that Max and someone else cooked up in a zombie game thread.
Hooray! I'm now known on the Escapist! As some guy who was talking to Max. Cheers for that :p Seriously, that game would be sodding awesome.

Depends. Some bastard sold me shoddy hardware; I have to keep paying for upgrades otherwise everything is all pixellated.

Almost certainly already said this is on some other thread, but my perfect game has already been made. It was called Saints Row 2.
Sorry about that my good sir. I have now edited my post and have committed your name to memory. I would also pay millions to play that game.

The NPC's are annoying though.

My answer: Prototype comes out in 2 days.

A perfect game simply can't be made: people want perfection +1 to acknowledge it as perfect, so it is in fact impossible.

You sure? Because mine constantly crashes and the bugs just keep on coming. And the graphics are average at best.
Yeah well if you can put up with the glitches it's got a really brilliant combat system and outstanding graphics. Don't forget the massive 100% explorable world.

The perfect game?
Well, somebody already dreamed up the concept.
It's called "The Matrix"

A 3D console sonic game that doesn't suck so badly people want to throw there T.Vs out there window.
I will help make that game, for I too have been wronged by Sega for the past 10 years! Believe me when I say, I know the secret to Sonic in 3-d!

My perfect game would probably need faster cpu's, since there would be no world brushed, but billions and billions of entities, it would be some kind of hybrid RPG/RTS/FPS, in which one of the possibilities is actual digging tunnels and building camps. I'm not going to say anymore because I'm planning on making it.

Curse of Monkey Island. That had everything a game could ever need.

Insult sword fighting, Grog, Voodoo Zombie Pirates, a cursed ring, lumber toss and cannons.

I cant name names but my perfect game would have to be very very long, mainly story driven and replayable. A hard thing to accomplish but I think Oblivion does it pretty well, I can replay it quite alot and it lasts a while too, depending on how side quest happy you are.

No. It is impossible to create a perfect game. Everyone has different expectations on how a game should be made.
True. A game might seem perfect to some, but others will dislike it or think that it's somewhat good. People have different tastes. There can only be the perfect game for you.

For me the perfect game must have an excellent story with shocking twists, superb graphics, kickass gameplay, good controls, changable enemies so if I play it again they'll act differently, (like Batman Arkum Asylum for example) and the game must not feel "stiff" like some games. Such as some Call of Duty games.

Ask Yahtzee and he'd suggest this "game" where you lick a hot stove.
Actually he might mumble about Portal before chasing you off with a stick.

My answer is that it can't be done and for that I'm glad. It means gaming will always give me a reason to be happy for next year to finally roll around and give me some new challenges.

THE perfect game would simply have to cover all genres, settings and time periods in the way Yahtzee suggested in Duke Nukem Forever by making the player not even notice. It would also take 200 hours to finish. Easy, right?
