In my idea of heaven, everyone does have the ability to get everything they want on a whim, consequence freebeliever258 said:Well, the biblical Hell is called Hell because the pain there comes from the loneliness. In other words, the Hell you fear is the one Christians believe in. The presence of fire and physical pain is debatable, but the loneliness there is not.brandon237 said:My personal heaven: A huge tower with thousands of branching off corridors, each one lined with door-ways. Each doorway is a new small dimension, belonging to a person. Every person gets their own door. They can make whatever they want in this little dimension (complete god-like power within it), but you can never die, never age, there is no disease or sickness and you heal within a day from even obliteration. You CAN still feel pain, but it is not as severe.
You can also invite anyone else into your dimension, but they can only enter with the owner's permission. Everyone who dies old will reverse age to an age between 20 and 30 when they were best. Everyone who is younger will age forward until that point. This won't be instant, but not as slowly as here on Earth.
All positive sensory reactions will be heightened where pain was dulled, so a loving touch or cool breeze feels that much nicer and the bright colours of the glowing neon creatures you fill your dimension with will look all the more stunning... Also memory will work differently, past trauma in life will still be remembered, but not hurt as much, and good things will not get old, if you love Ferrero Rocher Chocolate, you could be well... in heaven because of them all the time. (you have to keep happy and busy for an eternity).
You will also have the door address of all your good friends, lovers and family from life, and you will remember your life.
My hell: Complete loneliness, to remain conscious in a state where there is nothing, at least biblical hell has pain, and you can still be pre-occupied. Also non-existence, yay, my own personal hell is assured for me.
Such unpleasant thoughts. I like brandon237's idea of Heaven, but I would rather Heaven be something where every single person on this Earth has full access to anything they want, every person is immortal in the Baccano manner (that is, they heal within minutes of death, dismemberment, or any other hurting, and they never age). When a new child is born, they get their own space on Earth because Earth will be ever expanding for them. Memory will be similar to a computer's hard drive in that you can access whatever you want as quickly as you want and can delete anything you want to, but what's deleted can be brought back with and only with intense concentration. No money will ever be needed. Food and sleep will be feasible but not required. Everyone can teleport; technology has reached a singularity such that anything can be invented. Everyone is a decent and wholesome human being, each with their own individuality and interests, so nothing like nuclear bombs or worse need ever be feared existing.
Also, the sun will not explode in a few billion years. That's one of the reasons I wouldn't have immortality, that big ball of fire is going to engulf Earth someday and it's impossible to know whether humanity would even still exist as it does today.
I would hate to have my memory work like that actually, it would feel too unnatural, and the thought of losing information, a part of who you are, on a whim, is to me terrifying
Although your general idea sounds quite good, your ever expanding Earth I guess you could compare to my tower of rooms[footnote]Yes I stole this from the Matrix[/footnote], the elevator would need to be instant though and the tower keep growing upwards... say... a thousand people per floor, in 20 corridors stretching out from the central elevator, 50 doors per corridor.
And the elevator would be different for everyone, so a new "dimensional elevator" would be created for every new pocket dimension behind a door. The elevator would also have a search engine to allow you to find anyone, a very good search engine XP
I think way too much about this XP
