There are those who serve as inspirations to those around them, this thread is dedicated to them.

Who is your personal hero? It can be a real person or a fictional person, you can have more than one and it doesn't need to be someone we would know of.

Mine is Optimus Prime.

So gimme' your two cents.

My mum. :)

And the main character in my Manga.
Agreeing with you my friend.
My mum is my greatest inspiration.
How she managed with being a single parent raising 2 kids, working AND giving us both great parenting I will never know.

When I was a child: Ronald Reagan. Before cynicism about the government set in, that dude commanded my attention.

When I was a teenager: Adolf Hitler. You can figure from this that I wasn't a very likeable teenager. Thankfully I outgrew it.

Now: I have no heroes. Nobody alive is worthy of the title, and the dead should be left to lie.

The Chosen One. He can be whatever he wants to be, but is usually a total player who's a dab hand with a YK-42b Pulse Rifle and looks dashing in a suit of Adv. Power Armour MKII

Most of the people I respect and envy enough to be considered heroes are of my own creation, great providers of personal insight and actors for the constant shows running through my brain. Whenever I have the time to move the stage from my mind to the paper, people get to see my heroes for themselves.

My real and existing heroes:

My father, who's taught me so much about life it's not even funny.

My mother, who gave me compassion and spirituality where my father gave me practicality and hard logic.

Amaterasu, primarily from the long days of my playing Okami.

The protagonist from Bioshock. He has a magical hand that shoots bees.

I would have to say my father. He convinced my mother to buy beer for me so I would quit asking other people to do it for me.
