Bad idea: Everytime I miscalculate something in Assassin's Creed, be it a jump or the patrol pattern of a guard.

Now it's personal: So many moments... Fable TLC: When Jack slices your mother's throat. Mass Effect 2: when I got Mordin killed at the collector base. AC 2: When Ezio's brothers and father are executed. Fallout 3: When your dad sacrifices himself.

There are many more, but I can't think of any right now.

Pretty much all of dragon age 2. what a fucking let down.
The force unleashed 2 - the fact that this piece of trash was even released is astounding.
The ending of ME3 and Kai Leng (Lang?). the first was so out of context relative to the entire series i was just completely stunned and the latter was just so stupid i couldn't believe bioware did it.

There's this weird little drama that plays out while playing world of Warcraft.

I'll be out questing, sneaking up on my enemies, stabbing them in the face and looting their corpses when I see something off in the distance. It's a wandering enemy that's marked as being Elite or Rare meaning that it's just dripping with exotic goodies for me to more than likely sell for a few extra gold.

I have but a few moments to make a choice, I'm already a little beat up from fighting the regular enemies around here and there's no telling if that thing is one of those "Hard but you can totally solo it" rare enemies or one of the "Ha ha, fuck you...come back with some friends" enemies.

So I inevitably bandage up as best as I can and charge into battle all murder minded.

Sometimes it goes my way and I come off it with some extra loot. Sometimes I just barely lose at which point I become intensely focused on taking that ************ down.

And sometimes I realize I've made a terrible terrible mistake and I'm killed damn near instantly.

Um, I think pretty much everyone had that exact same reaction the first time they ever faced Lu Bu in a Dynasty Warriors game.

For me it was in DW4 at Hu Lao Gate when I encountered him, had no idea how powerful he was and was promptly beaten into the ground.

Initially I just avoided but then I decided that Mr. Pheasant Feathers had to go and a shitload of true musous later I finally brought him down.
Yeah, he's pretty much Dynasty Warrior's cruel FUCK YOU button that the game can roll out whenever it feels like you need a reality check.

Here's another brilliant idea. Starting my first playthrough of the first Darksiders on Apocalyptic difficulty. That was soooooo ill-advised...

What's worse about Lu Bu in DW4 is that when you kill him, he gives you THE SAME amount of weapon xp points as a normal NPC general in that stage. It's a waste of time trying to kill him.

Hmm.. Don't think I have a "OH SHIT" moment. At least not that I can remember right now.

However, my "Now it's personal!" moment would be.. Crap I don't know how to spoiler..

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER!

In Borderlands 2, when you fight Bloodwing in the Wildlife Preserve. It was all going fine and I thought I actually rescued her from Jack... Then he blew her up. That's when it turned from saving the world, to getting to Jack and slashing his fucking throat out with my blade. Another depressing moment was when Angel died. I always liked her as a character, and then that son of a ***** made her die too. It was one of those "WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY" moments. It's silly, but Borderlands 2's story actually affected me more then any game I played in the last few years. I mentioned somewhere that my GOTY is either Dishonored, Spec Ops, or Borderlands 2, but I made up my mind now. It's definitely Borderlands 2. Great fucking game.

A terrible idea was in WoW with the Fel Reaver. I was getting annoyed with the damn thing wandering around, causing the ground to shake and players run and hide. I decided to try and take the thing out with a group of hunters, a healer, and a rogue. We tried to keep it at bay with arrows, while our rogue went in and backstabbed it, then vanish off to do it again.

He stomped all our asses before anyone knew what the fuck.

A now it's personal moment would be when Caesars Legion assassin killed Arcade Gannon after a fight with deathclaws. I immediately installed a mod to have all companions at once, rounded them all up, and assaulted the Legion base. Lily and Ed-E died, but I had Caesars head on a pike >:]

Terrible Idea: Pretty much any decision I make in Starcraft.

Now It's Personal: The child actress for Yeesha in Myst IV was pretty bad, but I felt this effect anyways when I got the vision of her screaming and struggling while strapped in a chair. You're going down, kidnappers. DOWN, I SAY.

Terrible Idea: In Guild Wars 2, there's a mansion in Gendarran Fields with some spider eggs under it. I started squishing them to complete a heart quest. I noticed that whenever one was squished, a spider would spawn for me to fight. I had no troubles dealing with them, so I kept squishing. When I got to the last few, I noticed that the spawned spiders got stronger as it threw 2 veterans my way. I dealt with them and was down to the last egg. I thought it was going to be another veteran so I squished it. It spawned a giant champion spider. At first, I thought it was the weaker type that I might be able to handle myself, but nope. I had started a group event without knowing. I swung at the thing for a bit and bolted screaming "HOLY S--- WTF THAT'S NOT FAIR! THAT'S SO NOT FAIR!" In the end, a few people showed up to help kill the thing, but good lord, that was a terrible idea.

It's Personal: (Spoilers... sort of... The game is old) When Lavitz, my favorite character from Legend of Dragoon got killed off by Lloyd. I played through the rest of the game JUST to have that guy killed. After he dies, I was satisfied and stopped playing the game, even though that wasn't end of it.

See, I first met Lu Bu on the SNES version of Dyansty Warriors: Romance of the Three Kingdoms 2. I played it on Hard difficulty, as the other two difficulties were child's play. Now, I never took Lu Bu seriously as he could be bribed quite easily. However.....

When he eventually mutinied and rose to power his own faction, I chuckled as he would probably have next to no followers, little income and a miniscule army. After whittling down his followers, (i.e. recruiting them, other leaders recruiting them) I decided it was time to end him once and for all. I played as Liu Bei and sent myself, Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, Zhao Yun and Zhang Liao. We were 500 well-trained, well armed force versus Lu Bu with his 100 well-trained, well armed force inside a castle. The battle didn't last the full month and I fled, my army having been deciamted by a final score of his 32 total to my 44 total. All of the generals survived the fight and I never again underestimated the might of Lu Bu.

OT: Terrible moment idea was when I faced the final boss of Earthbound. It wasn't hard, mind you. Let's just say I started that fight around 11:45pm, ended the game at around 12:10am....and never got a wink of sleep until the sun rose. Those who know what I'm talking about know this experience.

Personal moment: Handsome Jack. That's all I'll say. I could not fire enough rockets into him when the time eventually came.

Hearts of Iron III: Oh, a diplomatic offer from the Allies! Sure, Sweden will join! We can be heroes together!

Aaaaaah, the Germans are bombing EVERYTHING! And there's armoured regiments rushing towards me! Oh, god, why did I join the allies?!

Skyrim: Oooh, a dragonwall! What could this sarcophagus next to it be?

*Crunk!* Surprise Dragonlord!

Aaaaaaaahhh, it's circle strafing me and deep freezing my whiskers! Why didn't I skidaddle?!

Dwarf Fortress: Ah! Undead slugmen tearing my settlers apart! And their bits reanimate, too! Phew, raised the drawbridge. Aah! It's raining acid blood! Everyone outside are melting! Phew, locked the gates... Guess we'll just stay underground for the rest of eternity, where it's safe.

Aaah! The bits in the butchery shop have reanimated! They're murdering everything!

Settling in a Sinister biome was a bad idea. :<

Now It's Personal: Empire: Total War. Every single bloody time Poland declares war on my arse out of the blue. Honestly, the first thing I do as any nation remotely close to Poland is to get stuck in an expensive conquest of the place just to get a few years of peace.

Terrible idea: Burrowing my zerg units while forgetting they don't surface if they're attacked by enemies that can see them.

It's personal: Anyone that taunts me after a death in TF2. Screw you.

Terrible idea: trying to use an aquifer in my fortress in Dwarf Fortress to make a water source. It didn't go well. Lots of Dwarfs drowned :(

Now it's personal: When Kefka murdered General Leo. I knew he was evil before then, but it was just regular overzealous crazy. Seeing that just showed me how much.

It's not so hard at the beginning, but it gets a little annoying near the end when an enemy can take out 2-3 levels of your life bar with just one hit. Even so, I don't regret it, and the end boss was way easier than expected (even with the Abyssal Armor).

Terrible idea: Playing FTL, ignoring all nearby shops to save up for more members so I can get the galactic federation achievement.

After a short time I had no fuel, no missiles, my ship was half engulfed in flames and half my crew was dead and with 20 percent hull.

Needless to say I also didn't get the achievement.

Now it's personal: In Fable 3 I heard a group of villagers talk crap about me.

Five minutes later I'm running out of the town with guards on my tail, multiple thousands of gold in bounty on my head and zero regrets.

Holy crap the Abyssal Armor was a GODSEND when I finally completed it. I gotta say though, the intense difficulty forced me to really step up my game, and later on it was getting very difficult for most normal enemies to hit, let alone kill me. Fucking bosses though...

But when I found out about the Abyssal Armor I knew I had to have it. Any defensive boost was welcome in my eyes. When I finally got, it was like night and day. Enemies looked like they were doing less than HALF the damage they normally did. The rest of the game, including the last boss, was pretty much a cakewalk from there on.

Here's a "Now it's personal" moment that harkens back all the way to my old SNES:

I was playing Mega-Man X1 and I had just gotten my ass handed to my by Vile and his damn Rider armor. He has me in his grasp when, suddenly, Zero, who he had captured and was holding in an electrified cell, broke out and grabbed onto the back of the armor. Zero then self-destructs himself, destroying the armor in the process and giving my the chance to take out Vile.

Afterwards you go to where Zero is laying, he says his last words, and then he fades away. I was pissed, one of the most awesome characters I knew of at that point had given his life to try and stop a malfunctioning madman. From then on I was on the warpath until I found and subsequently killed Sigma. It felt good avenging Zero like that.

Starting new game+ way too early in Demon's Souls was definitely a bad idea. I got so desperate I ended up eating all the boss souls I spared for crafting just so I can survive more than one hit from weaker enemies.
