I attack as soon as I got 6 marines (or 5 marines and 1 marauder) out, and let 4 barracks pump out more while getting a second base. I never do anythng about real defenses, beacuse I play offensivly. As soon as I have a small army of units I immediatly put them to use and start harrasing. This wya you get map control, lots of resources and you can tech up very quickly and keep pumping units at the same time. So far it works incredibly well.

I play Protoss. I tech up to Void Rays ASAP, and build dual Stargates in a hidden corner of my base. I Chrono Boost out 1-3 VRs depending on how I'm feeling about rushing, then sneak around to my opponent's mineral line. I attack them, and if I see that they've gotten anti-air, I transition into 3-4Gate with a Robotics facility for Observers, Colossi, and Warp Prisms.

Half the time I win at the rush, half the time my VRs get destroyed and I botch the transition. Oh well, it's still a relatively good build which does pretty well at the level of play I'm at (high ranking Bronze).

One tactic I do quite a bit if I choose to play Zerg is hide in my base, and wait. All the while I'm massing my Zergling Hordes and preparing the Nydus Canals. When the time is right, I'll use a Changeling to scout a good location, before popping a Nydus Worm up. And then - SURPRISE MOTHAFUDGER!!! By this point I've collected enough Zerglings to drown him in a sea of claws and fangs. Build your Hellions, use your Psi Storms, but you cannot hold againt the inexhaustable tide of Zerglings that are drowning your base!
My build's very good against this. Take out the queens and the lings are easy prey.

Usually send about 20 or so zerglings early on just to soften them up then bring in the roaches/hydralisks/mutalisks depending on what my zerglings saw they were building.

I only play with friends. Never solo. I'm not that good yet. Protoss, being my best race, my friends tell me to go endgame while they handle beginning to mid. I sit in my fortress of solitude and amass resources to research and expand to most areas of the map and proceed to produce ungodly amounts of Void Rays and Dark Templars. The Dark Templars act as 2 things, uber-awesome defense and uber-awesome harassment. Without detectors, 1 Dark templar can wipe out an entire ground army. After my teammates have weakened some of the defenses...VOID RAY SPAM LAZOR OF DEATH!
If they want me rush, classic SC zealot rush build.

Protoss air superiority ftw. Carrier sneaking in from behind=lots of dead peons.
Yeah, they really should do something about that, Protoss versus Orcs is so horribly unbalanced.

On topic though: I can't remember too clearly, it's a long time since I played multiplayer in Starcraft 2. I do remember that as Zerg, 12 pool worked pretty well, starting out with a few lings, then a few roaches, and then just reacting to whatever I see the opponent building, or spam him to death with Roaches. I'm not very good at multiplayer RTS.

I'd much like to play more with friends, but my buddy with my first guest pass just had to get his internet shaped (stupid Bigpond!), giving him too much trouble to 1v1 online with me.

I tried a zerg tactic online the other day and realized that my zerg strategy needs work. We all get better with time though!

I usually line up with the swarm. I have a fairly decent starting build order to get a worker at each mineral field, building a spawning pool, and two in the first vespene gas chamber. It lets me quickly get another overlord, a queen, a batch of zerglings, and a lair. I choose my first tier 2 unit (usually hydralisk), and an evolution chamber, and then it's just expand and spam from there.

I need to scout more, so I can't decide whether to wait and send a zergling, or send one of the drones right away. Plus my macro skills kinda sucks.

If your opponent is Protoss, expect 3 or 4 Zealots in your base in short order. That's about all I got.

I'm terrible at RTS multiplayer :(

I play the Zerg, mainly because I always just turtle with Terran(Siege Tank, Bunker, Missile Turret, repeat) and I have much love for the purple little suckers.

I'll set my loving drones to work at the minerals while using the starting minerals to create new drones, which also harvest minerals. Continue until you can make an overlord and use a drone to morph into a spawning pool simultaneously. Then, while keeping an eye on my base(Creating vespene geysers and increasing the drone population), I use two spawned 'lings' to arrive at the lookout points early(Allowing me to spot early enemy movement).

Using a drone for an evolution chamber and creating another overlord, I morph the hatchery into a hive while using excess larvae to create more 'lings' to make a suicide party. When the Lair is evolved, I spawn a queen, using a few drones as defensive spires. When the Queenie arrives, I evolve burrow and increase my drone population and send out another Overlord(Setting these critters on patrol routes along the perimeter of my base). At this point, the Queen will have been busy spraying my lair with her goo. Using the new larvae, I create a small wealth of Zerglings(Evolving Zerg carapace) to join the other few units I have. I spend a drone on a hydralisk den(Burrowing my zerglings at the lookout points when it evolves) and send a small percentage of zerglings at the enemy base to observe their progress in order to decide whether or not to rush them.

If so (My queen has sprayed the lair a bit back), I spawn a good deal of hydralisks and a few zerglings to wipe them out.

My extended strategy evolves with the enemy actions.

As Terran:

vs Terran:
Scout what he's doing and counter it, otherwise, try to end the game quickly before the game goes into a war of attrition via siege tanks and vikings.

vs Protoss: MMM with either ghosts having EMPs or siege tanks and vikings

vs Zerg: 1/1/1 build, transitioning into siege tanks, vikings and Thors. Maybe maruaders if necessary.
