Insects naturally, in particular spiders.

But I suppose the thing, not really a phobia, but is a fear in general, is that, using an example here; I am currently experiencing pains and aches in my left shoulder, side and chest. Naturally, my first thought is that I am having a heart attack. As I am afraid I am having a heart attack, the pain seems to be worse. I am feeling the worse pain, and now I am really panicked, which means more pain, which means etc, etc etc. I literally create cycles of pain and panic for myself, over anything.

dentists, hairdressers and horses.

i think the first two is just because i hate having sharp objects near my head and the horse....it's a f***ing horse. it's a big, dumb, ugly, scary animal that can easily stomp you to death

Yeah, this is my problem. I'm not bothered when I'm close to shore, but when I drift out so far that I no longer can stand on or see the sea floor, I freak out and swim as fast as I can towards the beach. Then proceed to calm down on land, get a cold drink and repeat the process.

The ocean is fucking terrifying, guys.

Oh yeah, and I hate centipedes. They are manifestations of Hell's fury and damnation, and also the scariest thing that walks on land (with way too many legs).

These guys eat bugs, bats and snakes. Bats and snakes!

Wasps.... They freak the hell out of me. Its a simple case of if a wasp enters a room all you will be is a massive blur which was me vacating the premises.

A Hermit's Cave
Arachnophobia... obviously, though I get on fine with insects, oddly... maybe it's the 'social' aspect of 'social insects' that I'm OK with...

Other than that... not much, really... fine with heights, I take a rather morbid glee in looking down glass floors, flying, small spaces, darkness, etc. etc. etc. *shrug*

I know no fear. Apart from wasps, obviously.

I'm worried by lots of other things, even to the point of irrational aversion, but that isn't the same as fear.

I have a pretty big fear of spiders, you never know where those evil little creatures will pop up, living in Australia doesn't help either... I also have a slight fear of being sociable with people I don't really know well.

I'm not afraid of them, but I find cockroaches completely and utterly revolting. I get nauseous just thinking about the little fuckers. And I want to squash them but I know that when I do it'll make that disgusting crunching sound and spread that putrescent yellow goop that's inexplicably inside them everywhere... And now I'm going to throw up.

Isopterophobia, mainly of woodlice. I find them revolting. Horrible. I can't stand to be around them. I worry when I see one that the floor or roof or wall will give way and I'll be covered in thousands of them. I cannot stand them or anything that looks like them. Especially those gigantic things they keep insisting of pulling off the sea bed.

Plus Odfbeb'frebjheb the woodlouse king only needs to develop space travel, and suddenly we've got this bastard on our doorstep with a gazillion of it's best friends.

I have arachnophobia pretty bad. If I see a spider I will go ash grey and beg someone to kill it for me. If I find one in my room I sleep somewhere else even if I get someone to kill it.

I'm also absolutely terrified of large bodies of water. Almost drowned once as a kid and it freaked me out so bad I never went near a lake, ocean or river after.

I have arachnophobia and cynophobia (dogs). When it's just a picture, it's fine, but in the real world I will run away if one or the other so much as comes near me, which causes much frustration when dog owners tell me "Oh, he won't hurt you." Grrr!

Also, I pity anyone who has hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliaphobia.

definitely fire/being burned. i cant handle the smallest of second-degree burns, so the thought of a third-degree burn terrifies me.

Escalators, spiders and crowds.

Crowds because I have social anxiety disorder and have issues handling large amounts of strange people. Spiders because I had a traumatic experience about 2 years ago with a spider bite. And escalators because of a nightmare I had in high school. Ever since that nightmare, I just can't ride them. Even escalators in games make me panicy...I discovered that when doing Dead Center in L4D2.

Here are mine:
1) Aeroacrophobia- Fear of open high places. (This was because of a dream when I was a kid and I was walking around Sam's Choice and I suddenly levitated to the very top of the building and fell. For the longest time I was afraid to go into a Sam's Choice and IMAX theaters.)
2) Atychiphobia- Fear of failure. (I just had a dad that was very strict about failure and all that stuff.)

3) When I was a kid I had Cenophobia or Centophobia- Fear of new things or ideas. (Seriously I even had a fit when my parents told me that they were replacing the old kitchen cabinets and counters.)

4) Cleithrophobia or Cleisiophobia- Fear of being locked in an enclosed place. (This is mainly like being locked in a coffin or something like that where you can't move around or anything.)
5) Emetophobia- Fear of vomiting. (I just hate the pain and everything associated with vomiting)
6) Ophidiophobia- Fear of snakes. (Snakephobia) (Never can pin point where I developed this fear but my God do I hate snakes, also having dick friends who told me to face my fear by watching Snakes on a Plane back to back like 3 times to help get over my fear...It didn't help.)
7) Pediophobia- Fear of dolls. (They just creep me out especially in Condemned 2's doll factory level.)

I think that is all of them for me.

Don't know the name of them, but there are two things that I worry about. Number one, I tend to be uncomfortable talking to people I don't know, to the point where even posting here is pushing my comfort zone.

The second one is sort of along the same lines as aba1's aforementioned fear of death. I'm not afraid of it per se, I just don't believe there's anything after death and so I am prone to asking myself what's the point of anything if all of what I do will be forgotten with time anyway. While not scary, the thoughts can lead to rather depressing moments. Luckily they don't tend to hang around for very long.

Not sure of the names for these (I can never remember what they're called), but I'm afraid of the following: heights (or, to be more specific, falling from them), being buried alive, drowning, and nuclear weapons (I don't have to explain that last one, do I?)

Dont know about the others, but I know that fear of Nukes was on that list I provided. Its Nucleomituphobia. I would say that that is a very rational fear though.

I've been terrified of wasps ever since one stung my lip when I was 4. When I was a kid, I'd just bolt the second I saw one. As I grew older, I managed to gradually control my fear, and one day when I was eating outside, a wasp flew up to my face and started hovering around my mouth. By this point, I must have overcome the fear, since I just waited for it to leave, then continued eating unfazed. I thought I had finally beaten my phobia, that I had at last overcome my greatest fear - but then one day I found out Japanese giant hornets exist. Granted, I'm not scared of wasps anymore, knowing just how much worse I'd have it if I lived in Japan -- a country I will never ever go to now.

That way too many of an list for me to look up (just got back from work so I'm checking my sites and etc).

I know I definitely got arachnophobia. Not sure why or what was the cause of it as I remember I had no problems with spiders when I was a kid.
