Any self-respecting nerd/gamer has a contingency plan in the event of a Zombie/Nuclear Apocalypse, Remember though, This happens after the aforementioned event has taken place,
Zombie: Climb to the top of my roof with a hunting rifle and go hunting.
Nuclear: Hide in a shelter while occasionally going to the surface to salvage food and parts.

Zombie - climb a watertower. Start shooting.
Nuclear - hide in basement. Start shooting.

Zombie - head to the military base that is about a 30min drive from my house, and hide in a tank.

Nuclear - By the time this happens, I will have gained enough money to have built my fallout shelter, so i guess ill hide in there

Die before said apocalypse comes. Short of that:

Zombie: Get myself infected. I've always wondered what it would be like as a zombie.
Nuclear: Probably die in the first wave of nukes. If I survive it, get some pals, get some supplies, have a good time.

I've spent well over a thousand dollars on supplies for the Zombie Apocalypse, (weapons, ammo, canned food, hand-crank generator, house upgrades, that crap...) but I'm sure that I could modify it into Nuclear Apocalypse survival supplies...

...and I just happen to keep it all in an underground bunker I have out back...

yeah...

Both- I'd take food, some of my dad's guns (he has a lot), archery equipment, my knife collection (including machete), some of my tools, and camping supplies and run into the woods. (I live next to state game lands)

Nuclear strikes would be centered on urban areas, and a zombie infection would be a much bigger problem in larger population centers, so the woods is easily the best choice. Also, thanks to the education that comes with growing up with a crazy hillbilly father (the fun kind, not the Larry the Cable Guy, racist kind), I'd also have a pretty good shot at surviving in a wilderness setting.

Since it happens after this stuff has happened I'm going to assume we're safe from any more nuke strikes.

Nuke: Now, that being said, I'd get my friends together (we'd already be together) and load up before crossing the country, trying to find either a safe haven paradise or think of somewhere that wouldnt be affected and getting hte transportation to it.

Zombie: Well, I posted it before, but long and short its pretty much the same as my nuke plan. Go to a secluded island so zombies cant come after us, wait for word that its safe and head back to society.

zombie- team up with our resident native american bad-ass (the one advantage of living in the mountains...)

nuclear- given the nature of this apocalypse, my plan A is too run/drive/swim/skip-to-my-lou/tie myself to a plane...WHATEVER it takes to get me to ground zero before the bomb actually hits it...and die chewbacca-style screaming into the missile; preferrably die by actually being hit by the missile...that would be a helluva story to tell in hell...

"so rasputin, pretty overkill the way you died.. i mean, it didnt take a FREAKING NUKE TO THE FACE to kill you like it did me, but its still..kind of impressive, i guess."

....but assuming a survive; same as zombie plan...though considering i live pretty high up (anyone know the exact science of fallout? feel free to correct me), if im not within incineration range, it probably wouldnt be all that apocalptic-y up there....plenty of wildlife (to nom on) and a fresh water stream that only particularly adventurous hikers like myself know about....i might be fine just roughing it in the woods on my own.

All emergences - I have multiple systems and simple generators protected in a 'Faraday cage' room (shielded). Then, I would plant a garden and build a, gravity-based, water purification system (it cleans about 1000 liter/day). I would build a windmill (Thank God I live in Kansas "land of wind") that would pump water to the water plant and then to the water tower. I figure that the workforce will come to me when I start telling people my plans. I have a number of trusted friends in my church who would not betray me. Walls would also need to be built and guard towers placed as the settlement grows. We can manufacture our own Ammo (thanks to me having blueprints and recipies) and grind our own wheat. Speaking of which we would have to build a third windmill to power the grain mill with the backup systems being beast-of burden. I also have a list of local herbs and uses for local plants to make rudimentary medicines and soaps.

The rest is classified, because I can only take in about 300 to 500 survivors and I do not want a bunch of people saying "Oh, hey I remember a crazy guy on the Internet named Gilhelmi. Who had a really good plan. Let us good there." The most I could do is sell (because I am not a charity, you do not expect free University, so you should not expect free survival classes. Harsh, but I got to look after my own first.) you survival plans and tell you to setup a settlement 50 miles away.

I love crazy hillbilly people. They are so much fun to be around and, usually, has the best weapons.

Only, over 1000, how did you do it?

It cost that much to buy the bunker, let alone install it. I plan on building one myself, even if I do all the manual work myself, renting a backhoe $200, buying the metal bunker $700-$1000 (and that is small), getting permits and legal fees are at least another $500.

Food that is dried (To last years) is expensive (I swear $10/MRE really). Water and water storage is also expensive (mainly the storage.

I would be impressed if you were able to spend less than $5000 on a quality survival plan.

You Wanna know how I got these Scars???... My Father... was extremely paranoid. He had the bunker installed in his backyard and bought (at least) a years supply of food for 3 people, weapons and ammo, etc...

When he died, I inherited the house and all that stuff, so I did some repairs and added some stuff of my own to the place... Total cost was around $1750

But in the end, How did you get those scars?

I really don't know.

I suppose in a nuclear event I'd probably die.
In the event of a zombie apocalypse I'd probably die too.

Doesn't look good does it? Ah well, at least I'mm fully prepared for when youma take over the world.
