Civilisation is going to end, sooner than later, we all know that.
But how would you like it to go?
I have to say I'm looking forwards to the zombie apocalypse, I don't think humanity would do too well against robots and you can't fight against super flu.
What are your thought?

I'm pretty sure that any Apocalypse is going to result in me dying.

Robot Uprising (SkyNet)? They're too smart and they'll get me.
Grey Goo (Google it; it's kind of cool)? Can't escape that
Nukes? I'm too close to a major city and would very likely get vaporized
Super flu? Hope that I'm of the 1% or so who won't die from the super virus; I won't hold my breath (although maybe I should with the super flu going around)
Fast zombies? I might have an outside chance if I survive the initial "Holy shit what's going on!?!" wave that always happens. Still unlikely as I have minimal supplies at home, no guns, and too close to a major population area.
Slow zombies? Hell, we'd all survive slow zombies. Only the very few unlucky bastards in the beginning would die but as soon as humans realized what was going on, we'd annihilate the stupid bastards.

So I guess slow zombies it is but I don't think that counts for it would be more "minor inconvenience" than it would be an Apocalypse.

I guess from a purely self-interested perspective, the best apocalypse is the one in which I become a supervillain and take over the world, destroying all the petty humans, but saving a few attractive female specimens for myself.

Personally, I am eagerly awaiting the day that civilisation falls before the marching hordes of sentient pancakes.

I would take my place among the ranks of stalwart diners tasked with defending the remnants of humanity, armed only with our trusty forks, whipped cream and a dwindling supply of maple syrup.

I'm assuming that I survive the initial dying off of people? Plague/superflu. Wander about, find other people, start a new society, confront an evil sorcerer with a rival settlement in Vegas, and see how things play out.

And if the new society turns out badly, I can just leave and find somewhere else.

I'm going with a rarely mentioned one, but there was actually a movie made on that idea! Because of some negative space wedgie, ants develop a highly intelligent and organized hive mind, get all kinds of aggressive and take over the world.

Ohh, I remember reading a H.G. Wells short story with almost that exact premise. (I don't remember anything about "space wedgies" though, I think it just sorta happened).

It was actually a pretty awesome little story. It ended with the narrator escaping on a ship to sail back home, thinking, "Well, we're all fucked" while back on the shore the ants were starting to build fortifications.

What was the movie called? I don't suppose it was any good?

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.

But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

OT: something that kills me quickly and preferably painless. So Nuclear war if I'm close enough to a main target or an asteroid dropping right on top of me would be good.

The most probable apocalypse is a pandemic with a new strain of flu, along with either a natural disaster or nuclear exchange. Humans are pretty tough to kill but the combination of two serious events would wreck civilization for a while.

I don't particularly want an apocalypse, but I'd say climate change looks like it will provide one, so I'll go with that. At least that's something that can be combated rather than natural disasters.

Wait, we have a choice? In that case I'm going to make up some of my own apocalypse scenarios, namely "Acute Cereal Coma" and "Extreme Orgasm Syndrome".

However, if I had to choose from an already established apocalyptic story, then I'd go for The Quiet Earth [http://www.nzonscreen.com/title/the-quiet-earth-1986-859] or maybe even Night of the Comet. Seems everybody just disappeared in those movies and yeah, I'd prefer to be one of the piles of red dust.

I'd like an apocalypse that would kill me painlessly in it's fist seconds, preferably so I won't even know it's happened. Never seen much fun in surviving these things. Unless I die BEFORE the apocalypse then it's zombies for sure! No cremation for me. I'd just like to be buried with an axe then.

I would prefer to have all humans shrunk to 1:72 scale.
Everything else stays the same. I just hope I have enough time to let the cats out.

Thankfully, zombies aren't real. And I'm pretty convinced that if there were somehow an incident somewhere, the place would be flooded with geeks who have trained for that moment for years. Between that and a police corps/defense force that can tie their shoes and have seen those movies as well, the poor zombies would not stand a chance.

If I had to choose my poison, I suppose I'd prefer an alien invasion armada, if they are open to the idea of making the planet a vassal puppet state of sorts.

Yes, but we're more likely to be wiped out en masse by a new and improved variant of tuberculosis than we are of being fungified anytime soon. It seems rather content filling its ant-dominated space, I don't think it'll evolve and spread to an unfamiliar complex organism as long as there are lovely ants to boss about. Although it's a splendid scenario for horror stories.

It's a very fascinating species, though! Nice find!

Captcha would like to add: ball of confusion. I wonder what that cataclysm would be like?

grey goo/robot up rising - nopenopenopenopenope...

impact event - ehh could be worse at least we didn't actually fuck up

nuclear war - excuse me while I spent the next 1000000 years facepalming

pandemic- I think this would be most likely of all and it scares me

aliens - highly doubt it

slow zombies - highly unlikely on a no known thing causes reanimation and b by now the popularity of the gene would make this not much of an issue

fast "zombies" more likely than the slow kind still unlikely an issue because movies

parasite zombies (last of us)- o_O disturbingly possibly file under nope not gonna think about it (google Ophiocordyceps if you don't believe me)

sun exploding - ok this one will eventually happen I can be happy I will be long dead when it happens

Throw zombies at me. Horrible though it would be, I do have at least some plans in mind for the undead. Then I would have a low chance of survival, as opposed to... none.
