Good evening, and happy boxing day. My name is H.T. Black, and I'll be impressing you today.

Odds are that you, dear reader, are a sentient being-- which means you most likely think, and have dreams. There is a good chance that these dreams are strange and incomprehensible...which is where I come in.

This is something that grew out of a recent thread somewhere in the off-topic board--I, using the powers of logic, intuition, and luck, will deciper the meanings of your strangest nightmares. All you have to do is post it, and I'll decode it for the enjoyment of all.

In case you doubt me, allow me to present some evidence:

My dreams do not make sense in reality. The other night I had a dream about mole-wolves taking control of an island of plant people, but without the plant people being incharge the island was slowly turning into a barren landscape so I (in this dream I was a mysterious hooded stranger to the island) had to lead a rebellion to take back the island in the name of the plant people.

If you can give an explaination of what my dream means than you truely are as insane as me.
Well it's obvious-- your dream represents a subconscious fear that the gradual growth of the mammalian population will lead to dramatic deforestation in your place of residence (or possibly the world over). Your instinctive need to do something to protect your homeland manifested itself in the form of you becoming a charismatic resistance leader-- this may or may bot be an indirect result of your suppressed desire to socialize with human population as a whole.

You are also pumped for Asassin's Creed II, which you have already bought and been playing, or are hoping to recieve for christmas.

What can I say? I learned from Sigmundfrued himself-- specifically, Sigmunfrued the bantam rooster.
You just blew my mind....
They are building a lot of houses/shops near where I live, which used to be a quiet town with a low population, I am against the construction as it is getting areas of the town I once played in as a child.
I am the only one of my friends who did not go away for their holidays and have been doing nothing while waiting for them to get back. So I have a need to socialize.
And lastly my friend lent me Assassin's Creed 2 before going on holiday, and I think it was epic.

But one last question for you, how did you work all that out?

So what does being a mongoose lifeguard overseeing a water polo match between Halo Grunts and Killzone Helghast, which then gets crashed by several hundred men in military clothing and everyone except me dies. And then later going home and after eating too much ham and drinking too much eggnog, Gimli from LoTR punching me in the stomach supposed to mean?
Wow...you need professional help. Unfortunately, all the help's asleep at this hour, so you'll have to make do with me. Let's begin:

First of all, you may or may bot be a zooiphile. I say 'may not' because it's far more likely that you merely stored the *ahem* attractive* mongoose anatomy within your sub-consciousness owing to a large amount of contact with them (this can be validated by your earlier post); odds are that you, my friend, share the same mindset as most Escapist users: while you may understand that there is goodness within humanity, you are surrounded by people who do their best to prove you wrong every single day. As a result, it would naturally occur to you to distance yourself from the harshness of the everyday world by in turn alienating yourself from humanity-- this is the entire purpose of escapism, no?

Considering the more Fruedian aspect of things...well...you gotta satisfy yourself somehow, right?**

Also, you may want to look into the very real chance that you are, in fact, a mentally repressed fur*NOT GONNA GO THERE*.

In short, this aspec of your dream makes you feel better.

*If that's how you roll, I mean.
**It's 2 AM. Don't badger me about libido jokes.

As for the lifeguard aspect of things: Given that you are a lifeguard, simple logic dictates that this may be de ja vu from a particularly busy day. However, I am inclined to think that this dream, much like your Username/Avatar combination, is a representation of your torn stance on humanity. See here: In your dream, you were a mongoose. Mongeese (see what I did there?) kill things-- snakes, rodents, particularly annoying children-- many things.

Yet in your dream, you were guarding lives through the eyes of a quick-to-draw predator. This can be seen both as a reflection of your unsteady opinion of mankind (animalistic wrath against altruistic heroism) and your own moral ambiguity-- which is also demonstrated by your adopted name when contrasted with your murderous avatar.

The same message is conveyed by the game of water polo-- two competing sides, one made up of mostly innocent people, and the other of bloodthirsty warmongers. Given that you assumed a dominating postition above it all, I am compelled to theorize that you might have something of an egotistical complex: it is just as likely, however, that you fear that you are in a position of authortity without wielding any actual power over life's outcome. (The game was eventually flattened, and you could do nothing to stop it.)

The militarymen represent the crushing doubt that pervades your thoughts: the fear that eventually, all that is good and bad alike will be crushed, left to die, and swiftly forgotten. The fact that you survived may symbolize one of three things: firstly, that you have a fear of loneliness (this can be blamed on human genetic programming)-- that you will be left to fare for yourself when society has come and gone, with your questions still unanswered. Secondly, this may mean that you wish for such an opportunity as this: for society and its evils (and goods) be swept aside so that you may rebuild in your own image (this supports the above-mentioned ego complex theory).

Third, you may have been playing too much Fallout.

Finally, in regards to what happened after the pool:

You are a psycopath who enjoys wathcing lesser creatures get punched in the gut.

And you are afraid of little people who work in all-you-can-eat buffet resturaunts.

So...how was I? And do you have any more?

If you still have doubts, here's a link to the original thread:

Here it is

Well-- let's begin.
I do so hope this isn't a bad idea...
NOTE: I know this isn't an orthodox review, but do you have a better place to put this?

Okay, lets see if you can help me out with this one:

[spoiler/]I've had this dream for about 6 years now, on and off about ever week or so. It starts off with me in a pitch black room. I can't see anything at all. Then, at the end of the very long hallway, there's a light shining down upon something, but I can't quite make it out yet. I get closer and see its the figure of a woman. Her back is turned to me. I see her as having a slim figure, sitting down on a stool. She has short, curly raven black hair. I get closer and hear the sound of whimpering. I can tell its coming from her. I ask if she's okay. She turns to me quickly and I see tears running down her cheeks. She's the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. She quickly stands, faces me and runs to me and holds me close, crying into my chest. She then leads me to sit with her on the floor, still holding onto me. I'm now holding her and caressing her back, telling her it will be okay. She then looks at me, gently says in a soft voice, "I've always loved you" then crumbles to ash in my arms. Then I wake.[/spoiler]

I've given myself what I believe to be a good analysis of this dream, but I'd like to hear someone else's view.

Oh, please make sense of my dreams. I've got 2 for you.

First, a recent short one.

I'm in a white room, and in a doctors' coat. I'm holding a clipboard and so I guess I'm a doctor. There's a dog (Pug I think) in front of me. I turn, say, "Une Momento" and punch the dog in the face. Then I wake up.

Quite odd for me. Now for the other one.

I am in a tour group consisting of a good sized group of random unknowns. Some guy is talking about things, presumably relating to the tour. For some reason, we're all standing in a giant waterslide inside of a mall. The waterslide appears to be circular and horizontal. The group and I are standing perfectly normally on the slide instead of (as logic would imply) falling down through it. All of a sudden, a giant shark comes around the bend and bites me. Somehow, it bites me on both the head and my left forearm at the same time even though it has only 1 mouth. Somehow, I'm alive.

Next, I'm looking down at the situation from a cat walk from above. I walk away and come to a hallway. There's a door at the end of the hallway and some guy in front of that door holding a gun. He tries to shoot the gun, but it's jammed. I walk up to him, take the gun out of his hand, point it at him, and shoot the gun. Apparently, it unjammed itself when I grabbed it. I then opened the door the guy was in front of and then my dream ended.

I have plenty more very weird dreams if you'd like to hear 'em. I don't actually remember any of my dreams unless they're quite weird...

I once had this dream where I went on a date with some girl, then after the date I took her home and went to my friends house to help his parents set up for his birthday. While getting everything set my friend's cake (it had a picture of him skateboarding on it) exploded getting cake everywhere. That is all.

Also, what can you tell me about premonitions? Because I get those from time to time too.

ok a not so but tiny bit recurring dream Ive had goes as following.
A turtle is happy because his eggs are hatching and his wife will be along any moment to watch them hatch with him, when she dosent show up he starts to worry, but dismisses the thought as the eggs are hatching, they crack open and he looks at them, they are cute as buttons and tickle his heart strings, then they smile revealing a set of large sharp teeth, they chase him into the ocean the way gnawing at him and biting him, he makes it to the ocean but and escapes, but he sees a shark coming from behind, he swims as fast as he can, just getting away from the shark, when he gets to two strange isles, he climbs to the top and sees his, wife, who he has been looking for, she looks at him and shakes her head at him , he does not understand until he see the larger, stronger turtle come up and kiss his wife, he breaks into tears and the dream ends with him diving into the see, commiting suicide.
I view the dream as if I'm the turtle, viewing from a 3rd person perspective.

Here's last nights dream, then.

I go to this place with my family - it's kinda like a ship run aground, but it's been converted to a hotel. I make friends with a boy there around my age. We become very good friends. But then I do something bad (I don't remember what) and the owner of the hotel sends me to an outdoor containment cell-thing and tells me not to come out (the cell didn't have a door). Then a bunch of stuff happens that I don't remember. Anyway, I sneak out and go to see my mom in a shopping center (the one from my town - don't ask me why), and on the way out I pass the hotel owner, but he doesn't recognize me (he's crying, I can't remember but I think his wife died). Now I'm back at the hotel, and my uncle (who appeared out of nowhere) tells my mom we can stay at my other uncles holiday house (my uncle doesn't actually have one, if it matters). I'm nearly in the car, when I remember my friend, and rush back to say goodbye. I find him, but we don't recognize each other for a while. When we do, we hug and I tell him I have to leave. He cries, I cry. More hugging ensues. We make our way over to my car. We're in front of it. I hug my friend more as we cry. Next thing I know, he's a puddle of goo in my hands. I cry, set him down on the ground and wave goodbye to him (he's still a puddle, slightly moving). As I walk towards the door of my car, I glance in the window to see how my parents were reacting to the whole show. They're smiling lovingly, if a little sadly. I hop into the car, still crying, and drive away with my family.

Edit: I feel it should be noted that there was a great sense of urgency and danger from me sneaking out of the cell-thing onwards.

Wow, it sounds more random now that it's in writing...

Here is one I have been obsessing over for a year. I was in some sort of underground town, made of red rock, on a platform held up by a slim spire of red rock, overlooking a bottomless pit which surrounded the town, with some sort of gondola that took people to and from the surface. Characters from The Flintstones where there but they never did much, I was in the shower, in a room that looks like my current bathroom but dirtier, I got out of the shower, then a bunch of bugs started swarming around my pubic hair, I fell into the pit, then I woke up.

Dude i get premonitions all the time. I had a premonition of 9/11, and of when i got womped by some punk at school, and of my grilfriend.

Let my elaborate, for the OP to explain to me.

that is spoilered for it is very long, but it is worth reading, and please excuse the occasional wall o' text.

9/11- I am on a flight, didn't know what one at the time. I get up and as i do the loadspaker comes on. "Hello ladies and gentlmen, we are now flying over New York City, look out your windows to see it." I then go to the bathroom, take a piss, and open the door to go back to my seat. As the door opens i hear a load crack and the sound of metal bending. I then start to fall, as i fall i look up and see my flight hit the first twin tower, i look down and see the ground rushing twords me, i close my eyes and i awaken.

Pretty werid, that was about a month before 9/11 acually happend.

Womped by punk- Okay so im in my school. Im in my grades area eating snack, and all of a sudden this punk comes up to me and punches me in the temple, i fall to the ground and awaken.

About a week later that exaclt thing happend except im walking back from lunch, and then he hits me. I made a thread about it called, "I just got punched i nthe temple, hard, for like no reason" or something like that. That has the full story.

Current Girlfriend- Okay so im at lunch and im talking with my best friends, my current girlfriend bein one of them. And then as she gets up she wispers in my ear, "I love you, im free on saturday" and walkes off for it was time for us to go. This was on a wednesday in my dream.

So about 2 weeks later im flirting with this same girl in computer class, we're laughing anf having fun and all that. This was a tuesday. The next day through AIM she askes me who i like, and remebering my premonition i think, i like her, it seemed so obviose. I told her that and she said she liked me, we went on a date that saturday.

So while all these premonitions may not be exact they are way to close to just call coincidences. As for dreams i can only remeber one, and i will share that, but iwant my premonitions to be explained god damnit.

Now for the dream.

Okay so im on a giant cruise ship in what looks like the Amazon river, don't ask how it wasnt hitting the bottom of the river or the sides, aparenly it was very deep and wide. So we have about 100 feet of clearence on each side of the river (keep in mind this is a large ship) and we're speeding down, at a very fast pace. I tell the captain to slow down for if a obstical gets in our way we wont be able to avoid it. He aparently doesnt hear me and just keeps driving. I go back to the main deck and i look over the edge ahead of us. I see a medium sized boat aproching us and i brace for impact, we crash into it. Everyone on our ship falls to the groud except me, everone on the other boat falls out, and no one dies. Somehow our vessel stops instantly and i take advantage of that. I throw over a ladder for the drowning people to get up. One guy that wasnt drowning brought up the ones that were. I started giving CPR on the victums, i saved about 5 people and some other people that helped my saved the rest of the drowning people.

Then i was at a ceramony getting the congresinal civilian medal of honor "for my bravery and ability to serve when duty called."

Now while you may say i strive for attention i really don't. Okay i like people noticing me but i don't stive for it, i'd rather just be mentioned then getting a giant medal for it all. Maybe i really do watn attention i just don't let myself think it? I don't know, please help me on this one.

Well, I once had a dream that I was in a constant loop of dreams, if you will.

I would wake up in my bed, realise I was dreaming, and pinch myself to wake up, i would wake up in my bed, realise I was still dreaming and so forth. This went about 50 times. Then I woke up.
And each time, the room would subtly change. I can remember it completely, so vivid. Any idea?
Your life is...drumroll please...repetitive! The only variety is in subtle changes to your daily routine-- and given that you're on the Escapist, I'd hazard a guess that this is usually due to acquiring a new game, which may or may not be in a genre you don't normally play. You are aware of this, and despite taking steps to change things, your deeds are ultimately inconsequential and futile in nature.

You may also have a subconscious fear of being trapped in The Matrix.

I woke up in a field of wheat and was picked up by a farmer in a red old Ford pick-up truck. He took me to a diner in the middle of nowhere where there were seven other people who had woken up in fields. A greyhound bus arrives and takes us to the city, which consists of a maze of skyscrapers surrounded by endless highways and overpasses interconnected like a tangle of wire. The airport which is important for some reason is small, a single room with glass walls and a luggage carousel in the corner. All the flights are delayed. Some of us are killed, by a serial killer apparently. They find one of them wrapped in plastic and buried in the mud under an overpass during a rain storm. I drive around with two of the others in a red convertible, and may or may not have turned into the sprite of Aragorn from The Two Towers game on the Gamecube for a few seconds. Turns out there's this crazy doctor who's killing people for something he's collecting. Candy corn is prevalent for some reason.

And then the dreams stopped after a solid month of them.

YOU THERE, MAGIC MAN! DECIPHER MY MADNESS POST HASTE!
Holy shit...Wanderfreak? OMFGRNTYFTW!

A-hem...sorry.

In short, you're a psycho.

But because you frighten me, I'll make sense of things.

Things started off relatively calm-- maybe not as sensical as it could be, but calm and ordered nonetheless.

Then, thanks to the introduction of who-knows-how-much into your life, your various ambitions and desires began to overlap and infringe upon one another; you couldn't decide which was the most important, and rapidly became flustered (Doctor's note: Patient may have ADHD). The one point of reason-- the one thing that could help you escape it all (or make order out of it) was small and would've discomforted you; and worst of all, it was nigh-impossible to get working.

Finally, you either are debating beginning, or already have, begun to axe the various loose ends of your life (See: Amazon trail); this is most likely to make room for something else you'd rather be doing.

Also: candy corn is tasty. Don't be ashamed.

It's late-- rest will be done tomorrow.

How about these few dreams. They should be relatively simple despite the holes due to them being 5-10 years old.

1. When I was 9/10 years old I had two similar dreams in the same night. The first dream had the same setting, characters and art style as a children's book I've read. In the dream, one of the characters somehow became invisible to all but his best friend/co-worker. Once they worked out what had happened, the invisible character decided to pull tricks on others and do other selfish deeds. His friend didn't like his behaviour, and so tried his best to stop him. The dream ended on the drawing of the friend chasing the invisible man holding sweets that he just stole from a shop.
This was followed by a second dream, this time set in the world of Pokemon (The Animated Series). There was a group of trainers surrounding a rare pokemon, trying to capture it. Unfortunately, it got away, but not before turning Ash invisible to all but Pikachu. Ash felt very sad that he was unable to communicate to others, so Pikachu tried to comfort him by communicating for him. The dream ended with Ash and others happy after being cured of their invisibility.

2. When I was 13/14, I dreamt I was in an old European village. I was also invisible yet completely visible (I don't understand this either). I was walking along this street when I was spotted by a couple of tourists whom point at me and go 'Look! It's an invisible child!'. A mob suddenly appears and chases after me (pitchforks but no torches since it was sunny). After turning a corner, I was pulled into a house away from the mob. After thanking the small Indian boy for saving me, I walked upstairs and fell asleep. When I awoke, I was no longer invisible but now possessed a third leg. The boy was now next to me and showed me a picture of a girl I recognised as an older version of a girl I knew from Primary School (which would make her about the same age as me, and told me to tell her I like her (which I know I don't).

3. At the age of 11 was when I had my last and worst nightmare. It started with me walking to the bathroom when suddenly my dad jumped out and punched me in the face [Note: me and my dad were on good terms when I had this dream], knocking me out cold. When I was out, I dreamt I was in another world where everything I walked passed became consumed by fire, and I hated it more than anything else. When I awoke (in dream) I returned to normal routine until my dad knocked me out again, sending me to that world. The dream ended with me entering a mansion in the other world, dancing (well, more like stumbling around) in one of the large rooms, waiting for the building to fall and end this nightmare.

As things are, I'm honetsly tempted to mark this up to nothing more than a brain fart; did your mother or some other important female figure recently pass away? For the time, there's just not much to say.

The cake was a bomb.

Again, not making much sense, unless your friend recently dinged himself in an accident.

I view the dream as if I'm the turtle, viewing from a 3rd person perspective.

...Fuck. Now I wanna go cut myself.

Well, at least it's interesting:

First up, odds are that you've been burned by something that had great potential at one pont or another; something that could have been magnificent ended up becoming physically and emotionally detrimental to you (may or may not have been in the form of either something a family member could have done or the actual member themselves).

Then, I'd imagine that the shark represents the way life can...the way life can sneak up and attack you even though...

Ah, screw it. Life sucks, it can sneak up on you and break your heart, goodnight. I mean, I literally can't make anything out of this beyond something that would've made Hobbes jealous.

...okay, you made a good plea. I'll turn this over and see if I can think of anything. Sit tight and stay sane.

I had a dream I was lost on the way to walmart and stopped at a Chinese restaurant and they didn't serve any Chinese food! I ended up having plain shrimp. Does that mean anything?

Most of my dreams are nonsense. One time I had to fight a dragon to go bowling with my friends.
