Rez was the rarest game I owned, as well as Marvel vs. Capcom 2. However, I sold both of them seeing how I dont play them, and they were expensive.

I also work at a game shop that sells a LOT of old games, and I could quite honestly get any "rare" game if i requested it from my boss.

Probably would be an Australian copy of Hotel Dusk: Room 215.
Its been out of print for a while here and I have never seen one at any store >_>
Other than that I really don't have anything that could be considered rare...

Read the Cartridge part.

This game is in my safety deposit box at my bank.
i found one at the swap meet a few years back
guy wanted 5 bucks for it, swiped it for 3
the greatest moment of my life
EDIT: i also have Megaman: the power battles arcade cabinet in my room
that one i had to pay a pretty penny for

Hm... Tie between Brave Fencer Musashi, Threads of Fate and Dino Crisis. All for the PSX.

I too fall into the old as dirt category, so I have a lot of PC games that are rare by virtue of becoming abandonware. So I'll start with consoles...

Dreamcast:
Typing of the Dead (is this really that rare?)
Urban Chaos
that Dragonriders of Pern game

GBA:
Atari Anniversary Advanced (no particular merit to its rarity, it's just that they didn't seem to press a lot of copies)

PS1:
Um Jammer Lammy

PS2:
Rez
Ico (2nd pressing that they did when SotC came out)
XIII (is that really rare too?)
Midway Arcade Treasures 1&2 (again, no particular merit here, just that they seemed to have really small print runs, especially when compared to #3)

PC:
King of Dragon Pass (not rare, as much as part of a really tiny market, and still readily available)
Interstate '82 (sequel to Interstate '76, which I also own)
Darkseed
Weird Dreams
Fool's Errand (the Amiga version, if I recall)
Nuclear War (and I yet, I still haven't purchased Defcon)
Chris Crawford's Battle of the Bulge
V for Victory
Megatraveller
Twilight 2000
the Battletech RPGs
some of the older Sim titles, SimEarth, SimAnt, maybe SimFarm...
and yes, Alice

It's probably a close tie between my Chrono Trigger and Earthbound Cartridges for SNES as my rarest.

The original floppy disc version of Might and Magic: The World of Xeen. Still have the Might and Magic trading cards and the box too.
