We all have someone we claim to be during RP games, be it fantasy, sci-fi or modern times.
Who are they? Or do you make a new one for each RP thread?
I will post mine if this thread gets off the ground.

Lord Mountbatten has no time for such poxy shenanigans. How tiresome it would be to pretend to be someone else. Medieval roleplay scares me the most, for I'm fairly certain most of the words and syntax used is completely incorrect, unless of course the progenitor studied Medieval English, but people who do that scare me too.

Needless to say, I snort in a lordly way (a mix of contemptuousness that is hard to register as contemptuous - you would have to have been a lord to understand) at this.

Hmm...haven't tried RP on the escapist...but there are places better suited for a person like me when it comes to RP though.

I have tried many different characters in countless RP's, but about 5 years ago I came up with the name Vadidon and the 39-year (graying) old man that goes by that name, and I've pretty much stuck with that one. If I were to be involved in a one-time-only-RP, I would usually make up entirely other characters fit for the circumstances.

Depends on the RP. For anime-related RP's, I'm Reyane Hokkain. For non-anime RP's, I'm Nekoi Hiokans.

Reyane is bi-polar and uses a hockey stick as a main weapon, while Nekoi just has anger issues and wields a pair of desert eagles.

I made a bunch of them, currently I'm working on one for the 20th of May, I call him Bomber Mo' he lives in the world of Bomber Man and hates how Bomber Man doesn't grow a beard like him, so he wants to bomb Bomberman's house:

WARNING! Individuals still living in the age of religious rule and who do not tolerate the right of ideas and expression, even if they come from a douche like me are advised to not click the spoiler!

Seriously thought, yes I make a character for every game I play and I usually based them around the opposite of what would consider cliché (rather then Good/Bad I'll make characters that are based on Selfless/Selfish, Alcoholic/Sober, Psycho/Purist, etc. to the very extreme of the notions, so no character is downright good or evil, consequentially)

I make up a completely new character for every campaign. I'm currently GMing one game so I don't have a character in that one, but I'm also in a Dark Heresy game where I play a Feral Assassin.

For those not in the know, Dark Heresy is an RPG based on the Warhammer 40k universe where all characters are acolytes to a powerful inquisitor. My character, "Shanks" Garm is a giant of a man, born on a primitive feral world where he was recruited by an off-world death cult and trained as an assassin. Due to his primitive upbringing, Garm prefers simple weapons (his trusty greatsword has served him well so far). Because of his training he's able to use more technologically advanced weapons as well (his greatsword has been upgraded with a monomolecular edge, and he carries around a variety of firearms), but some things still unnerve him (most notably warp travel and any form of cyberization). Apart from being proficient is slashing people to ribbons, Garm has excellent senses (high Perception, enhanced sight, hearing, and smell) and is fairly good at stealth, though his large frame and fire-red hair don't really contribute to that. He's basically Conan the Assassin.

Despite his average-ish Toughness and light armor (playing Garm in combat is 90% offense, 10% hoping not to get hit -- though he does have a pretty good Dodge skill), Garm has the uncanny ability to get the shit beaten out of him on every single mission but coming out relatively unscathed every time. Despite his crummy Willpower score, I believe Garm is currently the only party who still has zero corruption points and zero insanity points. I like to believe he's simply too dense for Chaos to get a hold on him.

I make up a new one for each new rp. Some times i just run out of ideas and rehash names or little personality quirks, but for the most part i like to stay original.

For instance i had a character who was an ordained minister who ate the flesh of a zombie to survive, this corrupted his system and drove him insane. Then he began to justify the zombies actions and started to hunt down humans because he believed the zombies were angels sent by GAWD!

. . .

>_> Yeah.

I bear several names. I can be Portal, a middle aged scientist that worked for the government underneath Lake Michigan inside a sunken yacht that slowly but surely crazy after Aperture Science Incorporated stole his greatest invention yet and the zombie apocalypse hit, which resulted in his even more psychotic sister to turn their already-safe family to the infection for a mere experiment to find out if zombified families still recognized each other.

Or, I could be a young annoying magician named Telemain that is on the road to learning how to work his magic in any way possible, all the while looking up to the most prestigious magician in all the Kingdom, during which the humans are attacking the Felines in a vague and almost unknown war that could potentially wipe one side of the conflict out of existence. Forever....

Or, I could be the same magician nearly 60 years later that lost his left arm during the Kingdom's raid on the Library countless years ago while he watched his mentor get crucified by who used to be his compatriot now turned power-hungry monster, and now has the problem of dealing with a mouse with his mentor's soul trapped inside it, said mentor's illegitimate daughter, and a pure evil butcher that delves into the darkest magics.

Why, yes, it IS bloody hard to make it look like someone's arm is missing in this, thank you for asking.

Or, I could be Iceous, a man in the prime of his life taken prisoner by Soviet Russia and used for brain experimentation that resulted in him gaining complete control over H[sub]2[/sub]0 and the flow of thermal energy but is also forced to keep his body temperature below freezing due to his body adjusting too well to the cryogenic temperatures they kept him at during the experiments, along with him dealing with a half dozen or so others who are in the same boat as he, with the only difference being them all are roughly half his age and have different abilities than his own.

Not the Iceous you remember, Prototype RP'ers? Go check my description submission of him in the thread.

Or, I could be whomever else I desire to be. My imagination is more often than note bound by anything, which allows me to be as creative and possible-sounding as anyone else.

You decide.

Why, no. I did NOT overdo this post at all. It only took me a total time of about an hour and half :L

Chaotic Neutral.
ALWAYS.

I steal from one party member and plant it on another or an NPC to get some damn action or at least conflict in the story. Surprisingly effective.
Most of the people i play with have no qualms about killing VERY IMPORTANT NPCs unfortunately

Always sneaky, all the time.

I create a new one for every RP I'm in.

That's part of the challenge, and part of the fun: always trying to expand your writing repetoire.

Is this in regards to only RPs on the escapist or just in general?

If in general, I have a few character personality 'templates' I tend to use, in essence it's the same character in the beginning and usually evolves into something all it's own. Sometimes I make something unique and specific to the world if an idea really strikes me. Mostly I play 'good' characters, a lot like myself in some ways but also a bit like the personality of a lead character for a comic I am working on.

I have a huge list of characters, so I'm not really sure what to use specifically as some are for forum RPs, some are hand-written things and others are tabletop game characters.

I am Khale Stormstrike, a Gambit from Thunderflint Harbour. My brother, Ezekiel Blueridge, destroyed our family, and our home. Now I live upon the streets, trying to change my luck through magic, and I seek revenge upon my sibling..

I am Mal'Saras.. I have traveled from Archaon on behalf of the Guild of Mute Assassins, to slay all those who have wronged the dead. My demonic kin work to kill my prey, and drag them back to the fiery acids of Archaon's gullet...

I am Ixion, the Thunder God. I work to prevent the Titan, Chaos, from returning, to keep my brothers from destroying one another, and to bring my sister, Ambirca, back from the dead. The Thirteen, Aman'Nevar, and the Fallen Ones are all my enemies, and they shall all be struck down.

I am Zeppyr Redfell, a Cancer-magi working for the Dark Brotherhood.. I have no emotions or feeling in this husk of a body.. The only thing I enjoy is killing; watching the bodies of my quarry wracked with disease, their bodies exploding into a mass of writhing tumors and boils.. It gives me such happiness.. But it is always temporary..

Well, so far I've been:

1) An elderly semi-insane (quotes bible in combat, uses flamethrower) chief system-engineer of a zombie infested starship. (Dead Space RP)
2) A young sub-surface miner with a short fuse. (Same RP)
3) A cocky know-it-all Mystic Knight. (Final Fantasy RP)

The only thing that I keep consistent is the naming policy. I always use Russian (Slavic) names.
What the hell...
What RP system did you use for Dead Space?

Well this was surprisingly popular.
Garcian Davies, unremarkable 20-somthing that's gotten caught up in it all, he doesn't want a part in this and he just wants to go home, but has been known to fight like a true warrior under extreme emotional stress.

((yes yes, i have a love for the dramatic))
