Fallout: New Vegas, Human Revolution and Fallout 3 until I upgrade my RAM.

My older RAM got corrupted, and while the above games still run, the framerate is goddamned unplayable.

I bought CoD4, foolishly assuming it could work on my POS lab top.

Yeah, I guess that was a waste of 20 bucks.

Oblivion and Fallout 3 GOTY, same problem with both. Start game, open launcher, play game, black screen (though oblivion will show opening credits), start task manager and end tasks so I can get my computer back. Concern over this causd me to worry about skyrim, but that works fine, as does Fallout new vegas for a friend who has the same problem with fallout 3.

Nope, I can't say I've ever bought anything that I couldn't eventually get to work through Steam. Even Space Empires V, which required me to do some scary things in the Windows console, eventually worked.

saints row 2, I eventually found out how to update my pc and it ran ok, but everything ran in fast-forward, which made driving a damned nightmare.

Quake 1, its expansions, Quake 2, its expansions, and Hexen 2 are the residents of my Steam graveyard. None of them work under 64-bit Windows 7. They all just crash on startup.

Also, while it probably works, I haven't yet played Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City, due to worries over the DRM limitations. Then again, I didn't really set out to buy it, anyway. I just got it as part of a pack which I bought for other games in it.

All of mine work because I do loads of research before buying anything, even if my hardware is "unsupported" there are always some nice fellows with a fix for it on a forum somewhere.

Myst and Riven.

Bought them on this huge sale steam had in order to promote the new sale of these old classics.

I didn't realize they weren't updated to at least work with newer computers. Apparently they only work with Quicktime version 1 (or something silly like that)and there's a host of other problems besides the video that keeps me from being able to play it.

Needless to say, I was very sad. At least they were cheap.
Yeah, a bug in Myst is keeping me from progressing. Strangely enough I was able to get it up and running without a hitch.

I also got a runtime error with Thief 3 that wouldn't go away. I tried reinstalling and loads of mods and unofficial fixes, but it just wouldn't work. Steam actually gave me my $20 back, which I was able to use to buy 5 games during the fall sale. One of them, Penumbra, didn't work either. No great loss, as it was only about two dollars.

I have two that do not work. Rage refuses to play properly, graphics either break up or turn blue or the frame rate drops to unplayable levels. Metro 2033 doesn't load at all, it just crashes on start up and gives an error message.

I have not contacted customer services about Metro 2033 though, I didn't "buy" it outright because it came in with a bundle deal so I am not really bothered about it. If I bought the game because I wanted it I would have tried to fix it though.

Well TF2 and Gmod will launch on my Laptop but then th-ey w-on't st-op lag-gi-ng. And they used to play fine. That's mostly the problem with my steam games on my laptop. They lag like crazy. Good thing I got a new PC for my birthday last year which I can play them on.

Nobody I know can get Dawn of War: Winter Assault to run...
*Whistles innocently in the corner, playing Winter Assault* Don't mind me, I got some more Chaos to ... murderise.

I've never had any problems with any of the WH4K series, but then again, I got discs and didn't go through Steam for them.

Of the various Steam games, the ones I've installed work... I have a dozen or so waiting until I upgrade my hard disk and then I can get around to installing them.

I saw something about that, but I don't have the Usersettings.ini file. And putting the line in config.ini didn't work.
I have it in My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\, and that and the various other tweaks to the different .ini files worked as advertised for me. Unfortunately the game is still less fun than Civ4, aside from the combat being better, so I uninstalled it a while ago. If I wanted a TBS where the only fun option was to kill things, I'd go play 90% of the other ones out there. I got a Civ game for all the non-murdering gameplay mechanics that give it some variety. Way to miss the point, guys.

I haven't changed a single thing in my rig in over four years, apart from the occasional driver update. Prototype absolutely refuses to load, even if it worked swimmingly six months ago.

Jade Empire. Game works... but it can't save, which means I can't get past the intro. Pisses me off because I really love this game.

I just found my copy of Command and Conquer: The First Decade, and I was running it on a commputer running XP a few years back, but after upgrading to 7, nothing except Generals and Zero Hour work. It's impossible to describe the rage I felt when I tried to boot up RA2. It's not all bad though; Generals and Zero Hour were the best out of the bunch.

Metro 2033 doesn't work at all. I have tried it on 3 different machines. One is really old and simply doesn't have the system requirements, another doesn't have graphics card support, and the other.... well I have no idea why it doesn't work on that, it is perfectly capable.
A lot of people have that problem, but there's an easy fix : )
Go to the steamworks/common/metro2033/install folder after the game has been installed. There should be a Physx installer. Use this to de-install the Physx. Then reset your PC and install the Physx again. The game should run now (might need another reboot of the PC).

I have only 2 games I can't even run, Magicka, as baffling it is, and Orcs Must Die, which would run oh so nicely if it wasn't for that stupid single core CPU problem. All I can see ingame is my character's weapon, well, actually that's all I see of everyone, and even if I hit an enemy the game will just crash.

There's been some problem with Super Meat Boy too for a short time, telling me I missed a directx dll or something, but it magically fixed itself before me going to search for the problem.

And then there's Faerie Solitaire. Whenever I start it up and reach the menu, the PC just restarts. No error message, nothing. It's weird because it used to run just fine.

And then again, my whole steam library is a graveyard at the moment as my PC killed its 3rd hard drive last week. Sucks.
