I do not know if this kind of thread have been made before so i apologise if it have.

Are robots going to take over the world? Will there be nuclear war? will we be able to travel in space? Will aliens destroy us or will we be the aliens that destroy?

Come whit your crazy thoughts :)

Well, according to people in the 60's, we'd have a moon colony by now and everybody has rocket cars.

The future will be the same as it is now, just with better crap.

Energy crisis, food crisis, land crisis, material resource crisis, global war, destruction, famine, extinction.

But its OK because I'll probably only see the beginnings of it in my lifetime.

Except for Russia they claim to have a moon colony by 2035.

OT: Not all too different, I don't think Russia's colony will work out, and there will probably be people with some minor robotic implants. As in working mechanical legs/arms, buts thats about it, and cooler stuff.

Nah, not much is gonna change, just a technology increase. But I don't think that the world will become all tech like you see in all 'em science fiction films, comics etc. Change is good, but with certain borders.

I reckon we'll all be using semi-automated hybrid cars in the next hundred years or so.
The technology is already here it's just a case of waiting for everyone to accept the idea and move forward.

I don't think the future will be flying cars and floating cities with cool neon lights and stuff, mostly because I think that everyone will laugh at any of those concepts being serious designs now... "LOL it looks exactly like the scene from back to the future 2!!11"

One political ideology will ahve taken over the world after one superpower crumbles internally after the other leaving the last superpower free to colonize the entire World with noone to prevent them.
Plus flying cars, lots of them and they run on fart gas.
Also fully robotic artificial limbs and full use of stem cells to repair damaged body tissue.

Recessions will be used as a right wing ideological tool for persecuting the poor. In boom times large businesses will give huge bonueses to CEO's etc.

Robots on the whole will not be amphromorphosised/humanised (is that the right word?) but there will be a gradual move towards more implements that can be pre-programmed which will lead to more unemployment when used in work places. Within the home there will be a myth of increased leisure time while in actual fact standads will increase and people won't have any more free time than they do now.

Suveillance by governments will increase in the name of safety. Surveillance will increase by private companies (looking at you Apple) in the name of fuck you we can do what we want.

Art will be emulated by the culture industries (bit snobbish sorry).

Popular media products will still be blamed for tragedies and equally sold on the weight of such accusations.

Poor people in developed countries will get fatter.

Oil will run out, but wealth distribution shall be perpetuated.

Abstract futile wars will be fought in 1080p streamed to our homes. GO TEAM!*

Ideologies will be created to legitimise a sense of entitlement for finite resources.

Privatisation of public ammenities (if there are any left).

The comforts afforded by Western living will prevent us asking for what we (I believe) are entitled to.

Erm... Oh yeah and Orwell will be right about pretty much everything.

*This is not a dig at those people who fight for something they believe in. I have the upmost respect for many of these people they are far braver than I am willing to die for their country or beliefs.

Really, I think that an ideal future would appear less advanced than our current era. Saying that, technology overall may improve, but I think it will both be less visible and generally less used. A return to older paradigms of vibrant civilization, easy socializing society, and more localized interactions, along with the good parts of current technology and mechanization, eg. advanced medicine, computers, automotivation, information networks, etc.

Of course, on our way there we might face some of the biggest crises ever in human history, at an international scale which perforates every country in the world. But once we band together to solve that (which we will have to; the only question is when,) things should look good.

Of course. Perfectly fine as long as we don't have to experience it.

The only thing that I can guarantee about the future is that people will be disappointed by it.

Everything else is variable.

But I think they'll perfect bionic arms and such in the next 20 years, what with the rate of robotic advancement. Probably not "Luke Skywalker's hand" advanced, but certainly a damn good robot hand.
