I'm not terribly fussed with what people are earning, to be honest. The problem I have with a lot of sports are how everyone is working to create completely un-sporting levels of disparity.

I understand in one sense the appeal of playing for the biggest club in your league, it's like a status symbol, you can be proud that the big organisation wants you. But, at the same time, the trophies you win during your stay at such a club aren't worth that much... to me, at least. For Gareth Bale, 1 league title with the Spurs would be more impressive than any amount with Real Madrid. It would be a far bigger achievement, and I don't really get why a sportsman doesn't want to struggle for the hard achievement. Personally, it's my goal in every sport I play. If I play a team sport, I do my best to be drawn on the less talented team. I don't want to feel like I'm beating up on a weak opponent, I want to feel like I'm battling the odds.

My beloved basketball is another great example of unsporting sportsmen. Lebron James... best player in the world. He helps instigate the creation of the most stacked squad in the league, joining up with some of his biggest rivals... and still flops about the court, sleazily trying to con his way to a competitive advantage.

What the fucking fuck is that!!??

We're supposed to respect this, honestly?

One of my other bug-bears, and I suspect I'll lose a lot of people here... Is how little respect players have for the organisations that employ them. Take Van-Persie. Arsenal invested a lot in this guy, made him a better player (as Arsenal typically do), stuck by him through endless injuries... He rewards them with a good season, and then fucks off to ply his trade with the rival. I know they're big organisations, but I still think that when you're endlessly given the vote-of-confidence through thick-and-thin, you should maybe be grateful.
