Your thoughts on Homefront?

Ever since I saw an article on the game last year, I became so excited about the game. It finally looked like an FPS with a good and polished solo experience, since I don't care much for online gaming.

But then it came out, and my friends said the solo sucked. But I can't help but get this feeling that I would like it.

What did you think about the solo, does it suck that much?

The solo was fine. All 4 hours of it we're enjoyable.

I rented the game and had a blast for about 8 hours. After that the fun wore off. I recommend you do the same.

Nothing special. Single pkayer starts out promising enough. But it pretty quickly turns into a typical "mow everyone down" game. Then the last little bit is painfully typical where you blow the hell out of sly the bad guys with a helicopter. Then join in a fhead on assault with the military

it had me for the first hour, then the next two hours sucked because of one of the characters whining the entire time
and never shutting up, the climax i also found to be quite good
however, the little amount of content you get for single player is not worth a full purchase
however, if you are interested, the multiplayer is very good

Don't even bother. The campaign is completely rushed and forced, and the gameplay is unpolished and repetitive. If you absolutely NEED to play the game, play the multiplayer. It's okay, although you'd be better off with BlOps or Bad Company 2.

As with most first person shooters released in this day and age, its promoters are expecting it to fly completely on Online multiplayer and give little to no thought to Single player mode. Often ignoring it completely or just tacking on a small story mode. Unfortunately for peeps like myself (Love a good fps, suck at multiplayer, wether from lack of skill or lack of hardware) the genres is almost completely a wash.

If Battlefield and Medal of Honor had a baby with Downs, it would be Homefront.

There are quite a few strong ideas here (the BP system in particular) that makes me think Homefront 2 or 3 might actually be pretty good, but for now it's mostly a disappointment.

It was worth the $8 I paid to rent it.

I was also curious about the game. It sounded like it could be a decent premise. It also sounded like a couple of films from the 1980's - which is a bad sign. I'll pass. Thanks for your opinions.

I watched my roommate play it. The introductory bus ride scenes were a little over the top. My jaw dropped when I saw the kid being forced to watch his parents' execution.

Interesting set-peices, let down by the lack of a shock and awe feel.
Also, it was WAY too short.

EDIT:
Needs a map of occupied territories in the US though. I went from a concentration camp in Colorado to the battle over San Fransisco. The whole time I was wondering where the front in this war is. It seems like Korea is moving west to east... so let's go attack San Fransisco.

All in all, good concept. Wait for a sequal.

The campaign does kind of suck. It's also very short. But, the multiplayer is good.

I particularly hate that the invading force are dark satanist that will eat your unborn child. Couldn't they be more of a peace keeping force? Why do they need to be Über nazi?

It's a joke. A huge joke. IF you don't mind spoilers, just go watch the first 20 minutes of the single player being played by someone who does what I did during Half-Life 1, which is probably why I don't appreciate it.

I thought it looked pretty good, until I played it. Other than a couple of variations in multiplayer, it's pretty much exactly the same as Call of Duty, just less fun.
