It's one of the best RPGs ever made, and vies for my best.game.ever. award with Deus Ex and Baldur's Gate. It deserves the praise it receives, and more.Edwardo Sosa said:.. but P4 just blew up with ONE game, now that is legendary. so I wanted to get the mass publics opinon since most people have at least heard of the persona franchise.
This is Atlus's first real success in the States, and from what I understand even in Japan they're not all that famous. If Atlus has the chance to milk the series to make some dolla's they richly deserve, and most importantly keep putting out QUALITY milk (the P4 anime is hilarious, IMO), I can't find myself too upset about it.Terratina. said:... are just milking the Persona 4 franchise just because they've afraid of not pushing the bar upward with Persona 5. If money from the Persona 4 spin-offs is being spent on the development of the next game, then fair enough.
The only link between 3 and 4 is a short school trip scene in P4 where you go to the island 3 is set on. Other than that there really isn't a need to play P3 1st to enjoy P4 but 4 can be as grindy as 3 at times so you probably won't find it any better.bluerocker said:I haven't played P4 yet, and I'm currently slogging through 3. Tell me, is it really THAT necessary to play 3 before 4? Because, so far, I'm not really digging 3. There's just SO much grinding...

When I say "strange relationship" is due to the fact that I myself have personally benefited from the immense popularity of the game. Years ago I was approched to voice in a persona 4 fan video for a personal project as Teddie. That small video went viral FAST

Because of the fact I do that voice a lot at conventions it has resulted in me being approched by attendees and allowing me to further gain some exposure to further my potential career as a voice actor. To anyone following the fighting game, there will be a 24 hour stream over at Gamecenter on the day of it's debut. Ive been asked by the tournament organizers to assist in doing commentary for the matches on the live stream but to do the commentary in character.
I know I'm piggybacking of the success of the game but I fully inteed to bleed out my advantage as long as I can.
For simply having something to do with those videos, you sir, are a god among men.G-Force said:I have a strange relationship with Persona 4. No, it isn't necessary. You will miss some cameos, but that is it.bluerocker said:I haven't played P4 yet, and I'm currently slogging through 3. Tell me, is it really THAT necessary to play 3 before 4? Because, so far, I'm not really digging 3. There's just SO much grinding...
The reason people say play P3 before P4 has nothing to do with the story, it's the mechanics. In P4 you can control your teammates so a lot of people find it frustrating to play them backwards and lose that control. Though if you hate the dungeon crawling parts P4 has a lot of that as well.bluerocker said:I haven't played P4 yet, and I'm currently slogging through 3. So far we've got a balance between the "cool" and "bubblegum" feelings. P3 I wouldn't really called bubblegum as the game had a very somber feel to it thanks to the blue overtones and general plot.BBboy20 said:Persona 3 was pretty much that way until Persona 4 was released.
Anybody else think Persona 5 will be more "cooler"-presenting and have a bit more sleeker atmosphere and have more adult(-like) playable characters like Persona 2 was or it'll continue with the more high-school focused bubblegum direction since 3?
