Have you ever met anyone who was racist. Not just joking, but actually a racist person? If so, what have they said or done? How did you react? Tell us.

1. YEs
2. They said jokes and didn't trust the N-word with his gun.
3. I just nod and move on.

Living in hick-town US means I either put up with them or dont' get along with anybody.

here in a university city things are a lot better.

I encountered a player on Team Fortress 2 who would repeatedly blame grievances and even his own deaths in the game on Jews.
I explained I was not comfortable in that atmosphere and left. My friend told me later he was banned from that server shortly thereafter. Serves the puck right. Antisemitism is not the new 'Your Mom'.

I've been to the Deep South of the United States, where racism is almost a default viewpoint. When I meet racists in Canada, I get pissed at them, but it's not worth fighting the huge numbers of racists in the southern US.

this. I don't live in a hick town (or even the south for that matter) but some went to my school and to avoid confrontation you kinda just ignore it. Aside from being racist they were surprisingly OK people.

A friend of a good friend of mine is a Nazi sympathizer. She presented her views in a clear, eloquent way, while keeping the Jew and minority bashing to a minimum. I honestly wouldn't have known if she didn't outright say "...and I hate Jews, but I don't let that cloud my judgment."
Kind of an oxymoron, but whatever.

My grandparents are so racist it's insane. Imagine the most over the top racist you've ever met, i'm talking Chapell Show over the top, and then multiple that by 10. That would be how my grandparents are. I don't associate with them.

My grandparents, they're of the mildly reformed racists that came out of the civil rights movement here in the US. They're actually quite fun to be around, especially my grandpa who loves (and I mean loves) fox news. All I have to do is bring something up about Obama and I get treated to a wonderfully hysterical tirade liberally sprinkled with references to the country of Niger only with two g's.

In case you were wondering, I find racists hysterical and an endless source of comedy. The world would be a much less tolerable place without their special brand of insanity.

I don't think I've actually met a real racist... my granddad used to make racist comments but those were just off-hand, I don't think he actually hates immigrants.

I suppose this is a good thing!

I never met one personally, but I've been lurking in the Stormfront white supremacy forums two years ago. The members were unreasonable extremists and lacked any common sense.
I asked them once about their opinion of The Simpsons. The responses were...interesting.

Yes, I grew up in Texas and now live in Oklahoma. I'd like to point out that racism against people of South American decent is rampant. I have legal US citizen friends (both native born and legally immigrated) who have been suspected of being illegal immigrants by people in restaurants and stores when they go to make purchases or at their work.

Ah, I see you've met our colorful community of neo nazi's. Yes, well don't mind them; they're mostly harmless cretins who like to talk big and think they're tough stuff. Ultimately they're just a sub culture of rednecks who like to think people care they exist.

I was at a cinema a few years ago with my parents. A black couple was in front of us as we waited outside the theater for the previous audience to leave. A worker asked the people in front of us to move to the other side of the hallway (it was obvious that she wanted us all to move to the other side, so that the leaving audience would have a clear way out). The couple called her a racist for asking them to move, even though it was obvious that the worker was just doing her job and not, in fact, singling them out at all. My parents and I moved to the indicated spot while the black couple went on and on about how racist the worker was.

Yep, he mostly went on about how anyone but caucasians were scum.
I ignored him.
I also suspect that my mom might be slightly racist, but I can never confirm it.
