So, I've been playing Team Fortress 2 for a few months now and I've been really enjoying the game. However, there are a few things that come up regularly that kind of annoy me and I need to vent. So here is my top 5 most annoying things in TF2 (in no particular order):

1. When people tell me to switch medi guns.
Now don't get me wrong, I am open to suggestions especially if you have some kind of maniac plan brewing in your head and you need my medical assistance to achieve your goal. I'm cool with that. But I do get kinda annoyed when people seemingly arbitrarily tell (not ask) me to switch medi guns without giving any kind of reason why I should do it (aside from "because I said so!"). I main Medic and the Quick-fix is easily my favorite medi gun. I use it a lot on defense and I regularly do good job with it. I know when it works and when it doesn't work so stop complaining in the chat. (People who do this usually seem a bit clueless)

2. When people don't know how medi guns work.
If you are a Scout and you urgently need healing, don't run in the middle of a group of players and spam the Medic call. My medi gun can't connect to you if there are 3 Soldiers, a Demoman, 2 Snipers and a Pyro between us. Also, if you are a Heavy with sub-20 health points, please wait until I've healed you above 100 before you turn around and run back into fire and sticky bombs. The beam doesn't make you immediately invincible.

3. People who get headshot by snipers inside the spawn right when the round starts.
Most spawns have the main door and usually the opposing team has Snipers who specifically target that door (and already aim at your head during the countdown). Just use one of the other doors. Or stand in cover. That's all I ask. This happens a lot when I'm healing Heavies and it gets a bit tiresome when you have to pop the uber inside the spawn just so the Heavy doesn't die immediately when the round starts.

4. People who try to push the cart when you uber them.
It doesn't work that way.

5. People who don't take care of the Engineer.
Usually, the engie is one of the most important players in your team and you really need those teleports to stay up during the round if you want to win the game. If your engie dies, keep an eye on their stuff and please, don't let the enemy medic syringe gun my teles and dispenser to death when I'm re-spawning.

We really need team service announcements for this stuff.

Best TSA ever

So what's your top 5?

PS: It's ok if you don't want to make a list. Freestyle venting is also appreciated!

All the hats x5

Seriously I hate that crap. Pretty much quit playing because it's just gotten too silly. That and the way most people just mindlessly zerg around and don't work together or help cover Engi buildings when they should.. Stuff like that. Used to really enjoy the game before all the weird stuff kept getting added in.

-Facestabs.
-People taking medkits when I'm a medic on fire right next to them.
-People removing sapper and ignoring spy.
-People who run to cover when ubered, I know you're low health but god damnit you're invincible right now! push forward!
-Spies with cloak and dagger. Most just hide in a corner and do nothing, so in general I dislike them.

1. Spies with DR. You hit them once, they run away and you can't follow them because they run to their comrades and then they try again 2 seconds later.

2. People in MvM who kill bots in obscure parts of the map and don't pick up the money.

3. Giant Demos in MvM. Grenades. Grenades EVERYWHERE.

4. Snipers who use the Razorback. Even when I'm a Spy on the other team it still infuriates me that anyone would be stupid enough to take it.

5. Huntsman Sniper Bots in MvM. Combine the sheer amount of arrows with the Huntsman's notoriously generous hitboxing and you just get 5 arrows to the head the moment you encounter them.

Huh, I had no idea there are people who don't like the hats?!

Yeah, I think people don't even bother to mention it because everyone hates it.

Yeah, this actually happens a lot with Demoknights too and they almost never manage to kill anyone. (I remember one occasion when I actually ubered a Heavy and he proceeded to punch almost the entire enemy team to death. Good times. Unfortunately, that's not what usually happens.)

As a long time participant on both sides of the Heavy + Medic team, I do want to speak out on this one...

On the one hand, yeah, a heavy getting out the regular boxing gloves when they get ubered is madness. On the other hand, the GRU are fantastic to get out when ubered because it will allow the heavy to get into a superior position faster, wasting less of the uber charge on movement (I do this often myself). Obviously you'll realize they're doing this once they switch back to their minigun, but, you shouldn't always abandon a heavy the second they switch to gloves (I've had this happen to me many times, messing up an uber-rush that I was set to crush).

People hate the hats/miscs? I don't see how people can hate something that exists purely for optional use and doesn't affect gameplay in the slightest...well, some do, but it's purely in a "cosmetic" fashion. Anyway.

1. Heavies. I don't think they should randomly crit. They're powerful enough without that. It's not like with a crocket, where you have to have aimed right, Heavies just spray about.

2. Spawncamping. Even moreso the insane logic that if you're "bad enough" to let it happen, you deserve it. Victim-blaming.

3. THE DEAD RINGER.

4. The stickybomb launcher. Especially in servers with over 24 players. Everybody goes demoman/soldier to use splash damage to get as much kills as possible. And with the sticky launcher you hardly even have to aim. Just plop one on the ground and blow it up. There's a reason why most of them are Hale's Own or close to it.

5. People who judge your skill based on your choice of weapon. This is similar to the OP's Quick-Fix issue. I like the Quick-Fix, also, seeing as I suck at timing ubers and like to focus on healing as many team members as quickly as possible. But since I'm not a great medic, I like the Vita-Saw, which also works because I have fun getting kills with it and I like Bioshock. Some would question why I don't use the Ubersaw, reason being, being overzealous about using the Ubersaw to get a free Uber would get me killed. And it happens to most medics that try it.
I love the Sydney Sleeper. It looks amazing, it allows you to get quick shots off and highlight targets for the team. A bodyshot is often all you need- I love it. I use the Heatmaker for headshots, but sometimes I don't feel like that.

EDIT: I meant to add. This is hardly a "top" 5. There's no particular order.

Yeah, I don't mind when they do that. It's usually a sign of a competent Heavy, actually. I have issue with Heavies that use the regular boxing gloves and then spend the entire uber shadow boxing.

I know some people hate this, but I've never seen an issue with it (not even when I'm on the receiving end of it). However, I hate it when people refuse to scramble the teams when the teams are clearly unbalanced and the other team gets spawncamped every round. That's when it stops being fun.

Yeah, Sydney Sleeper is pretty great. I don't get the obsession with headshots.

most of the time nobody even seems to bother trying to beat it in any way other than just barreling in head-first and getting instantly killed - so the match just ends at an arbitrary point with no amount of kills I rack up ever amounting to anything.
Huh, I usually play payload and control point maps and this happens very rarely. I guess we just have a shit ton of spies on all EU servers who love to torture the engies.

1) The cosmetics. It was fun for a bit but then passed annoying like it was standing still, forced obnoxious off the road and is now neck and neck with unintentional self-parody. I thought the towering pillar of hats was a joke, apparently it was a game plan.

2) "Omg less snipers/spies". More often than not whoever said this is actually right. The obnoxious part is how it's uttered pretty much every. Single. Round. Look people, if you're going to play on a pub you need to understand that the only teamplay you can enforce is the ammo you'll get off their corpses. The same goes for any other complaints with regard to poor teamplay. You're probably right, but seven years of yelling about it didn't help and seven more won't either.

3) Trying to play some scout only to suddenly have half of both teams switch to scouts with hale's own unusual scatterguns. What is it that makes people love scout vs scout so much? I just wanted to run circles around some heavies.

4) Smacktalkers with a pocket medic. I'm fine with the pocket medic, it's the willfull ignorance of just how much of your succes is directly accounted for by that glowy beam.

5) Failstabs, legit backstabs that don't register. As far as I'm concerned facestabs are karmatic compensation and if valve ever patches one of them, they better patch out both simultaneously.

I love it for what I call backsniping: first push forward with your team into the enemy base, then get into a sneaky spot and start sniping people as they are running away from you rather than towards you. You'll have ages to line up your shot, enemy sniper shots are no issue and surviving targets are still quite screwed because they'll have to run all the way back or push forward with low hp. The middle part of the 2fort battlements is an exceptional spot for this, you can be there all game if you're lucky. There is however one problem with all of that: the killcam giving away your position. Enter the sydney sleeper! No killcam since it rarely actually kills, yet thanks to the jarate effect your target is usually a dead man regardless.

EDIT: messed up the quotes.

Haven't played in a couple years, but it sounds like most people's issues are with some of the playerbase, not the game.
When I did play, I found it was best just to find a server I liked, and become a regular there. I also pretty much ignored the items aside from Halloween events.

Still, no one should be telling anyone else how to play. It's a game and meant to be fun.
Friendly advice is ok. Anything more than that, usually comes across as passive aggressive, and sucks the enjoyment out of playing.

Or you could set up a private server with friends.
I've done that before. Makes things easier if public games bug you too much.

Anyhow

- people who steal the Medic's health pack when he's keeping everyone else alive and is about to die.

That's pretty much it.

Most of the complaints in the thread are genuinely only a problem if you're not very good at TF2. When you're good, all this stuff is balanced.

Meh, I gotta disagree a bit. I think it's justified to expect people to use half a brain when they play the game and I don't really like the "well, what did you expect from pubs" attitude. In my experience, you can get people to at least try to work together with some encouraging words. The thing is, you also need to know when it's time to switch servers. If you log on a server and half of the team is having a sandvich party at the spawn, raging at the chat about teamplay is not gonna be worth it. Just move on and find another server. (Raging at the other players is in general a bad idea imo.)

Mini Sentries.

That's it. The only thing in TF2 that annoys me is mini sentries. Everything else is fair game and fair play. I don't hate them because I find them difficult to beat, they're just annoying. I hate running around a corner and losing 50 health in a second because there's an engineer who put a mini sentry down.
