This is difficult because there are so many games I like but here goes:

Deadly premonition: Directors cut: Playstation 3
Pokemon: Soulsilver: Nintendo DS
Resident Evil: REmake: GameCube
Jet set radio future: Xbox
Silent Hill 2: Playstation 2

This barely scratches the surface of the number of games I like, but these are the ones that are my current favourites.

Tricky! All right, let's pick and choose then...

Wii: Punch Out. Yeah, it's not a boxing game, but it's a fun simulation of one with lots of color, character, and hilarity. Okay, so you're basically punching a lot of hilariously bad stereotypes in the face, but it's all in good fun. Music's quite enjoyable too.

XBox: Steel Battalion. All right, I confess, this one is just plain personal bias. Huge, expensive controls, unforgiving difficulty, and giant robots might not be for everyone, but this is a game that really made it feel like you were in the cockpit and rewarded grace under fire, which is all I could really ask for.

PC: Team Fortress 2. Does it even need to be said? Bloody thing's addictive, in that no matter how often I experience frustration after a bad round or two, I still forgive it and find a way to have fun next round, and when you're on a roll, it just feels rewarding.

PS2: Metal Gear Solid 3. Another one that speaks for itself. Great story, engaging gameplay, interesting boss battles, and a really touching prequel. Of the 'core' MGS games (that is, numbered), I honestly think of it as the best of the lot, not only in being sufficiently self-contained, but also the most well rounded.

Gamecube: Metroid Prime. I'd be remiss in not mentioning this one. Everything right about Metroid put into a wonderful 3D environment, along with adding in engaging mini-encounters (random space pirate attacks were actually fun for me), but not having not introduced the degree of 'screw you' some of the parts of MP2 did.

Been a PC-only gamer for so long that this is going to be a little difficult, and I'm probably gonna have to include stuff I played on my brother's consoles, but here goes:

1: Mass Effect series (PC)
2: Need For Speed Most Wanted (original, NOT the remake) (Xbox - not mine)
3: Point Blank (PS1)
4: Battle Outrun (Sega Master System II)
5: Need For Speed Pro Street (Xbox 360)

Bit misleading though, because if I were to try to do a top 20 of all time without the console restriction, it'd probably only be the first three that make the list.

1. Age of Empires 2 - PC

2. Dragon Age: Origins - Xbox 360

3. KOTOR - Xbox

4. Oblivion- PS3 (I've played it mostly on the 360, but I have played this version before, so it totally counts :p)

5. Pokemon Emerald - GBA

I haven't owned alot of systems throughout my life, I mostly play on the 360 or PC, but this list was a fun challenge

Favourites rather than "best", right? Because my top 5 "best" games might be different.

PC - Conquests of the Longbow (although the original Civilization is a close runner-up)
NES - Uncharted Waters
PS2 - Summoner
PS3 - Dragon Age: Origins (although I could just as easily have said "360 - Mass Effect" for this one - since I'm equally fond of both)
PS Vita - Persona 4: Golden

Super Mario Bros 3 (NES)
Paper Mario (N64)
Bioshock (Xbox 360)
Yoshi's Island (SNES)
Castlevania: Circle of the Moon (GBA)

Fairly easy, I have about 20 favorite games and just had to pick a few off the top of my head! Sadly I had to replace Dark Souls with Bioshock because I've played BS1 start to finish about 15-20 times.

5 - Gamecube - Phantasy Star Online Episodes 1&2: One of the first console Online RPGs and a damn fine ARPG, it was great playing with friends, and the communities it built were fantastic, and a little craptacular at the same time. I could spend days just building mags and plotting my stat paths. Still to this day nothing has recreated that feeling of spotting a red drop.

4 - N64 - Pokemon Snap: An interactive, first person photo safari and puzzle game. I'm not sure why this hasn't had a sequel or remake because it was the right mix of gameplay elements to make an amazingly fun and surprisingly replayable puzzler.

3 - GBA - Castlevania Aria Of Sorrow: Arguably the best of the metroidvanias, enough collection and mapping elements to satisfy the harshest of O.C.D. symptoms. A great magic system, wonderful story, memorable characters and music, and tons of options make this a game I came back to many, many times.

2 - PS2 - Shadow of the Colossus: What can I say here? A game with hardly any concrete story, only boss enemies, an atmosphere of crushing loneliness with magnificent environments and visuals. The hopeless feeling never really stops and the journey through evokes more emotion than a lot of games built to specifically to do just that. The end result is what many, arguably, consider a work of gaming art.

1 - PS - Vagrant Story: Take a game with enough levels of customization to make Pokemon EV/RNG hunters drop their spreadsheets, add one of the best magic and combat systems ever seen in an RPG game, then add a brilliant art style and probably the best story I've ever seen in a game, ever, and you have this often overlooked gem. It's sad that game so critically acclaimed never got the next chapter it deserved, but it does stand as near gaming perfection.

Alright, I'll bite. Here we go:

PC - Medieval II: Total War. I really wasn't sure about strategy games when I first picked up Medieval II. I'd heard the series was good and I'd read a bunch of ace Let's Plays, which were what inspired me to try the series. Even when I first started playing (as Denmark, gotta establish Viking rule of Europe once again!) I still wasn't sure about the game until I sat back after playing and realised I'd spent almost an entire day on the thing. Directing the battles had a wonderful sense of scale but for me the big draw was sweeping across the world map, coordinating my armies, diplomats, spies and merchants.
Honourable Mentions - Morrowind, Oblivion, Cave Story, Rome: Total War

PS2 - Kingdom Hearts II. I know people grumble about things like the prologue and Atlantica (which is awesome, an entire world of musicals is kickass) but for me this is one of those sequels that does everything right. It addressed the faults from the first game, namely the clunky combat and occasionally ugly world, made everything more fluid, more fun and ultimately more enjoyable. For me, this is the highest point of an outstanding series of games.
Honourable Mentions - Okami, Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy XII, Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater

PS3 - The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. I've been a fan of the series since trying out Morrowind ages ago and Skyrim continues the grand tradition of me unknowingly spending 200-odd hours on it. I love the setting, I love the combat, I love fighting dragons... yeah, it's just kinda great.
Honourable Mentions - Mass Effect 2, God of War III, Assassin's Creed II, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Dishonored, Far Cry 3

PSP - Final Fantasy: Dissidia 012 [duodecim]. I really liked the first game and again, the sequel made everything better. The combat was refined, the new fighters were really cool and a little bit unique (like Laguna) and the way the story played out was a far better system than the previous game's. To be fair, it was mostly an expansion pack sequel, but enjoyable nonetheless.
Honourable Mention - Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep

Game Boy - Pokemon Red. An oldie, but still one of my favourite games of all time. I still play this fairly regularly and even though it has its flaws - glitches, bits of the combat system that are broken, the graphics - it's still one of my favourite RPGs, one of my favourite Pokemon games and definitely the best game on Game Boy.

Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction (PS3)
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (PC)
Mass Effect 2 (X360)
Pokemon White (NDS)
Pokemon Y (3DS)

Honourable mentions goes to Fire Emblem: Awakening (3DS) who is in the unfortunate position of being up against my favourite game series of all time and Skyrim for being better than Oblivion at this point in time, but Oblivion was better in its first year out than Skyrim was.

Final Fantasy 6 (SNES)
Majora's Mask (N64)
Team Fortress 2 (PC)
Saint's Row 2 (Xbox 360)
Jet Set Radio Future (Xbox Original)

It was a tough choice between Majora's Mask and Mystical Ninja as well as TF2 and Morrowind, but such is the way of things I suppose.
