In my favor:
Nerd knowledge
Alarmingly overprepared as it is
I've seen every episode of "Survivor Man"
Having a crazy hillbilly father who taught me to shoot, throw knives and hatchets, etc. when I was a child.

I think I'm pretty well set.

EDIT: Oh, and I recently purchased a crossbow... No reason.

Well, I am moderately knowledgeable when it comes to electronics, so I could work on jury rigging still in piece solar panels to power things, fix small electronics, etc. Possession wise, some knives, some canned food, not too much really, I guess I would scavenge a lot, oh I was a boy scout for quite a bit, so I do have general survival skills.

I got a good head on my shoulders, but not a lot more.

I can distill alcohol. That should come in handy.

Congratulations! The apocalypse has happened. We're unsure of the means, but from what we can tell, it looks like a mixture of Asia going to nuclear war, Mt St Helens erupting, the polar ice caps suddenly spreading to cover a quarter of the world, wrath of the Greek and Norse gods at the same time, and AIDS. Gee, what are the chances?

Anyhow, you're part of the lucky 10% or so who've survived the disaster. Unfortunately, supplies are scarce, and you're going to have to prove just how useful you are to the post-apocalypse community.
...Wait, is this ten percent before or after radiation poisioning wipes a good propotion of the people living in Asia? Also, Mt St Helens? You do realise that when Mt St Helens erupted in 1980, the death toll was...fifty-seven? If you're looking for a massive volcano to aid in your apocolyptic scenario, Yellowstone National Park is better. In addition, I think if the polar ice caps melted "suddenly", I think humanity would have bigger worries than whether the Greek and Norse pantheon was having a hissy-fit.

What skills/possessions do you have to help humanity get along?
I'm fairly persuasive. Four years in scouts means that, if necessary, I can construct things out of wood and rope. I'm strong and fairly tall. I have relatives who live in the country-side. I know how to grow food. If I'm lucky enough I know where I can find a lot of camping equipment.
