Sega Megadrive and Sonic 2, although it was more of a family console.

The first console that I was actually able to call my own was the Gamecube with Star Fox Adventures. (If handhelds count it was the Gameboy pocket with Mario and Yoshi.)

NES was my first, then a SNES, but I don't remember any of the games on either of those. After that I got an N64 with Quest 64.

My first console was a sega genesis, but it was only really played once. May have to dig it up sometime, pretty sure I have Doom and some mech game ("metal-head" or something like that) on it. Anyway, I first actual game wasn't on any console, it was PC, and it was the first Diablo. Good times.

Sega Genesis/Mega Drive with Sonic the Hedgehog.

And I'll say it: I've always had more fun with Sonic than Mario.

Pretty sure mine was a Telstar Ranger... 4 pong games and a light gun.

I was 6 or 7. Got an Atari 2600 a year or so later, I think.

1997(I think)
Got a Playstation from my mother along with the first Crash Bandicoot game. I played the game sooo much, but I never got very far. I was only seven or eight years after all.

A Gamecube. First game being Starfox: Adventures, and Star Wars: The Clone Wars. I was a massive Star Wars fan when I was little, and Starfox, well it just looked interesting. I had never seen the sort of thing before, so my young mind was instantly just drawn to it.

I recently dug up the Gamecube, and I was surprised to find it was still in perfect working order, if a little dusty. Sure the controller's control sticks had been chewed up a little by a habit I had when I first got the Cube, but it just brought back this wonderful feeling, wonderful memories of sitting on a soft carpet with my pet cat beside me, immersed utterly in the strange new worlds that both games offered. I played through Adventures and The Clone Wars again, far quicker than I had when I was little, and although they were incredibly easy, I still couldn't help but feel a sense of accomplishment that I used to get when I easily breezed past a part that had me dumbfounded when I was small.

Oh, I've started rambling. Now I feel old. :/
Seriously?

I was like 13 when the Gamecube came out.

Your young, so very young.

Mine was a Sega Master System with sonic the hedgehog 1 and 2. I remember not getting too far in sonic 2 and being frustrated with it.

Amstrad (can't remember the number but it had a green screen monitor and a built in cassette deck) and the first game was probably Harrier Attack. Had played on a Commodore Vic 20 before but Amstrad was the first I owned.
