I know this is an international forum with my people from a great many countries. But living in America, and never really visiting other countries, I don't really know what people think of us. I think the media latches onto what our government and politicians do and go along for the ride. So what is your view of Americans from personal experience if any? Are we fairly represented to you, or are we a bit different than the stereotypes make us out to be?

Well I'm sure this is a repeat thread but whatever, I'll respond anyway. Let me just say...[HEADING=3]Damn you America![/HEADING]

Now let follow up by saying I'm Canadian. I think you should have a pretty good idea of where I stand with these two things.

i believe it's a country that got lucky, as it had to sit thru 8 years of bush, and still is one of the more prominent countries.

Btw....Im not of those "Oh yeah America is fucking awesome, fuck all you other ding dongs. My truck will run you over and my guns will kill you!!"

I try to be a world citizen, reading about issues in other places and seeing what the rest of the world is like.

We aren't the greatest or most liked. I think we do somethings right...but get a lot of shit wrong. A lot, and too many extremes are represented in our culture and politics.

Nothing against American people as such. There are a lot of idiots there, but there are idiots everywhere and unfortunately it seems you're run by those fucking idiots. A fair few Americans I've met that have had an elitist attitude that annoys the shit out of me, but the others are always really friendly.

Americans: The only idiots who would willingly live on an area called "Tornado Alley".

Pretty much sums it up.

I'm Australian and I really want to visit America one day, especially Washington DC.

As a country I feel kinda sorry for you guys, your seen as the world's police because your the only people with the military power to do it. Yet, people spend half their lives saying your wrong for doing it and the other half telling you to keep doing it.

All the while the lack of money in your domestic sphere is beginning to show, with the insurance and medical issues your having.

I appreciate the foreign policy difficulties you guys have and I think you're doing a good job at it. So yeah, you're doing fine by me. I really want to see the White House in person ( though it's impossible to get inside, just to look at it from Pennsylvania Avenue would be enough.)

It's a cool place to live, lots of paths to take in life, I really wouldn't rather live anywhere else. At least not at this point my life.

However; I hate that American insist on BEING American. "SPEAK ENGLISH DAMNIT RABBLE RABBLE" bilingualism isn't a bad thing, and it's not another country invading us and trying to take over, we got over those fears after the cold war right? Also, when I went to Toronto, I was embarrassed by the way Americans behaved. They were loud, pushy, rude, and annoying.

I wish we could repair our image in the world, but we've actually got to put some effort ("What's That?!?" many may scream) in order to do it.

Watch what you say. Give us a few years and we'll be up to your level, and then you'll be essentially damning yourself.

All aboard the Obamacare Railline. 5:15 departure to bankrupcy.

Seriously though, problems aside, I wouldn't want to live in any other country. For all its faults(And there are a LOT of them), still the best country in the world.

HELP! OH GREAT BRITAIN/CANADA/FRANCE/WHATEVER, GET ME OUT OF THIS SHITHOLE YOU CALL A COUNTRY!

*phew* needed to get that out of my system.

On a more mature note: I hate this place. I think the other countries need to iq test everyone, get out everyone who scored more than twenty, and then proceed to nuke the rest.

But that's just me.

America needs to die. Painfully.

I love living in America, we have free education, free speech, free elections, and many more positive ideals, of course we do have our negatives, many of them have been listed already. Including the ignorance that is bred here, along with the elitism of the middle class. But as I write this, I am in no danger of dying, I am well feed, and I have a phone to call, if any of the former happen to me.

I personally think its one of the greatest countries to be in. Freedoms for everyone, opportunities, all of that good stuff. Sure there are many problems, but there are problems in countries all over the world. Being born and raised here, I really wouldn't want it any other way. Simple as that. I'm proud to be an American. I want to live in the country though, sick of the city after all these years.

This thread has my spidey-senses all aflutter.

I'm not vehemently opposed to America, but I often find myself wishing my family hadn't moved here from England. The inhabitants of this country are rapidly loosing what little sanity they had left.

Then again, England has the BNP...
