Your views on Death.

I know to start off that there have been a few recent death threads but this one is and I assure you different. I am asking about ANY views at all you have on death. No restrictions(except language, please be considerate) just anything.

This thread is also sparked somewhat by 'On A Pale Horse' by Piers Anthony. It deals with Death as an office that is held by a person. It's really quite an amazing book. If anybody AT ALL has read any of the 'Incarnations of Immortality' series please let me know.

Eh, it doesn't make sense for it to "end" at death. The only reason we think it ends is that we can't see beyond that point. Exactly how we thought the world "ended".

As for the character of the grim reaper: I like to think he wears a white suit, black tie, and a fedora and lacks any skeletal look to him. I would follow that guy.

As to death itself: It'll happen when it will. I can't predict what it will be like, but I hope to go out in way that will make people say, "Wow, that guy went out with a great finish.". Yeah.

For me, death is a necessary evil. If no one ever died of old age, the planet would become hopelessly over-crowded and we'd die of war and hunger instead, and probably take the ecosystem with us. However, that doesn't stop it from being my greatest fear. For a person like myself who doesn't believe in the afterlife, death is irrevocable non-existance. Only the concept of hell, eternal, never-ending torment, scares me more.

If you like Piers Anthony's depiction of Death, you should read Mort and Soul Music by Terry Pratchett.

Death is just a chemical process. As for what happens after, well, what difference does it make?

Death is an odd subject. I'm fine watching people die in the media, including the videos of people actually being killed (a certain video of a guy having his head cut off with a knife by neo-nazis in Russia comes to mind [the gurgling sound as blood goes into his trachea is kinda unsettling]). But when someone close to you dies (some of you know my dad passed on May31st of this year) suddenly you care because it actually affects you.

Point: Death is fine till it happens to someone you love.

Death isn't scary to me, its just the pain that often comes with it, and how my death would effect those I love.
As for the death of others, its only bad if there was something to honor, I've come to realise.

that sums up most people but there are a few people that feel bad whenever they hear anyone has died, but you at least sum up the way I feel about death
