Your views on Death.

I know to start off that there have been a few recent death threads but this one is and I assure you different. I am asking about ANY views at all you have on death. No restrictions(except language, please be considerate) just anything.

This thread is also sparked somewhat by 'On A Pale Horse' by Piers Anthony. It deals with Death as an office that is held by a person. It's really quite an amazing book. If anybody AT ALL has read any of the 'Incarnations of Immortality' series please let me know.

I welcome Death, just not the pain that will most likely come beforehand.

I Regard death as a culling, the old and serviced cell of the species, finally continuing into oblivion to make way for the younger cells, offspring. And with its death taking its old habits and prejudices that may have served it in the past but may be more hindrance than help in the future. But not dying before it has past on some habits or environs that may be of use to the younger new generation. And so the cycle continues.

You make it sound like death is a giant encyclopedia for the world.

We die and our individuality is completely lost (apart from what might remain in other people's memories), but your building blocks become part of the world again, maybe as plants or animals/humans.

Note that I'm talking about matter here. I don't believe in souls and our consciousness itself can't exist without a brain to produce it.
Non-existance is not threatening to me, though, it's just not being.

Death, is something that i fear to get to, but once i know i will die i will embrace it and hope for the best. Hopefully God(or whatever) wont be the ass that is always portrayed(eternal damnation and the such), and maybe the afterlife will be relaxing. But most likely i won't know because dead people can't think X(

It's definitely hard to imagine not existing.

But maybe that's how it is. We laugh, we learn, we love, and then we just die.

A lot of things don't seem right, that doesn't mean they don't happen. Most people don't like the idea of not being around, or not being sentient/conscious anyway. Question is, if they should be "forced" to accept the maybe harsh truth or stay, for lack of a better word, semi-delusional.
