What's your view on underage sex, then?
It can be anywhere from sluts going around doing it in the toilets with three people a day, or mature rational 15 year olds (I say 15 as it's close to 16 - legal age here) who have talked about it a lot, and decided that as long as they're very very careful, then it's a good thing, as they believe they're in love.
Do you find both situations to be the same? Both unacceptable as the law is the law, or both fine as it's their lives?
Basically, what do you think on the matter?

Edit: I just saw how this could appear. I'm only asking because we had to sit through an assembly at school on it, and I was wondering about your opinions.

If both parties consent completely than I have no issue with it provided the age difference is within the bounds set up by that equation that I can't recall at the moment.

The thing is that the younger they get the harder it is to be sure that consent is really there, as they might not be in a position to make informed decisions. As a flat limit I'd have to say 14 is what I'd be ok with, 13's a little weird and anything lower leaves me feeling uneasy.

Well 15 is legal here so I see no issue with that, as for teens between 12->14 I feel it´s okey to some extent as long as their partner is around that same age and they are in a good relationship.

Viewing underage sex would probably get the police to Nah, bad joke there.

Anyways, I'm against it. Yes, the idea that there is a magical age at which point people are mature is patently false, but you have to draw the line somewhere. Yes, it means people that could have sex earlier will have to wait, and it is infringing on their freedoms or whatever, but that's the price you pay for the law protecting the people it's supposed to. It has to be fairly rigid and inflexible if it is to hold up.

And, nobody I know of has died from not having sex anyway.

In every topic like this I say basicaly the same thing. It is all down to sex education, kids ARE going to have sex, like it or not, so as long as they have good sex education and easy access to birth control, then that is all we can do.

Sadly however sex education in most countries is very poor, a lot of people need to get over their personal issues with sex education in my opinion. Sex shouldn't ever be a taboo thing to talk about.

I think it's not too bad as long as both parties are consenting and contraception is used. I think 14 is probably the lowest age I'd go, another other then that is just weird. I don't encourage it, but if they really want to do it, there isn't much we can do to stop them. Just as long as they understand what they are getting themselves into.

I don't see how this is any of my business. Sex is sex, people insist on demonizing it, but that's all it is. It's not mine nor anyone else's right to tell people what to do with their free time. Things like STD's and teen pregnancy would be less common if people would just support the choices their children make and stop trying to engineer their lives.

People need to stop assuming that just because sex was a big deal for them that it will mean exactly the same thing for everyone else

yeah...pretty much this. Kids are always goign to be curious about sex, and trying to stop them (FROM EACHOTHER) is just going to drive them to more secrecy. This being said, I have toa dmit that the OP's title made me nervous.

Well, I don't have much of an opinion on this really.
In my country, Sweden, the legal age is 15, for girls the age when most loose their virginity is around 14 and guys around 16.
I.. Really don't have much of an opinion, sure there are sluts, but there are just as many who have strong feelings for the ones they have sex with...
I sure wish I had hold on to my virginity a while longer though.. 13 was way too young to loose it, but that is still the only occassion I've had sex without some form of love so.. Point is still in my favor perhaps?

So long as everyone is consenting, properly educated and safe, then I have no problem with people deciding when they are or are not ready to have sex. I don't think the government really has a logical argument for trying to make that decision for them. If they end up pregnant, or with an STD, or just generally having a horrible experience, then that's their own fault, but I still think they should have a right to make that choice and the government should by and large stay out of our private lives.

If they've clearly thought it through and aren't stupid about it then I see it as ok but if they're just going around sleeping with people because they can and think it's cool then they're a idiot. Younger than 14 I see as just too young unless it's a special circumstance and younger than 16 I'm a bit iffy about.

Younger than 16 for me is just weird. Even then there's older people still not mature to do it.

I find it often a sad creepy reflection of a person's priorities of what makes one mature when some feel such a need to have had sex as soon as possible.
