Homefront. I didn't exactly have a lot of expectations out of a current-gen military FPS that was going to be little more than a weekend distraction, but DAAAAAAMN, is it bad.

Thats not true though, sure you might be able to have fun with a shit game (Big rigs a good example) but it doesn't make it less shit.

For example, lets take dragon age.
The combat was faster and less dragon ageish
The story was well a story that some people liked and some didn't
The characters had stories, if you didn't like them whatever
The gameplay was mostly bug free
The inventory worked, the game was fair

Do these facts make it fun for everyone? No, but it did what it set out to, it is an RPG, it works, the gameplay works, it tells a story. Thus, it is not shit

Now lets look at big rigs
The driving was broken
There were no physics
The AI did NOT EXIST.
Collision barely existed with the god damn ground.
Only one map worked.
It CTD's at the drop of a hat.

This game is objectively shit. It doesn't do what it went out to do, the gameplay is broken, its full of bugs. It is a great example of shit

HOWEVER some people could have more fun with Big rigs then Dragon Age 2, or visa versa. But that doesn't change the fact that Dragon Age is unbroken, has solid gameplay and does what it says on the tin. You can complain its not the new DAO all you want but its still an objectively good game while big rigs is well...broken to the point it don't think it was ever together.

So, no, worst game can be very objective. But when it comes to what fun you get out of a game? Your right, it is 100% subjective.
I don't think you're quite getting what the word means. Objective means "True regardless of personal opinion". It may well be that Big Rigs has no AI, and is buggy as hell (and it is) but it is a subjective opinion that those are negative qualities.

If a question like "What is your vote for the worst game of the year?" is to have a meaningful answer (or discussion), it is probably more helpful to interpret it as "What game this year did you derive the least amount of enjoyment from?"

Because of this, my original assessment of DA2 as the worst game of this year stands. Had I played more games, it is very likely that another game would receive this highly dubious honour, but I must necessarily restrict myself to titles I've had any experience with.

Warhammer 40,000 - Space Marine...
Don't get me wrong here, the game is solid.
Looks great and the controls are tight.
But it's basically just three button gameplay.
It gives you all the upgrades almost immediately, and then you're left to do the same slash-slash-slash-stun combo for the rest of the game.
The immense repetition just outright killed it for me.

It's probably not the 'worst' game I've played, but it's the one that disappointed me the most.

Well if you take it as purely enjoyment then yes DA2 could be the worst of 2011 for you.

And yes I am well aware of what objective means, I'm no nimrod.

But they ARE negative qualities, a game about racing, that promises long races and chases from police is shit with what it gave, you might have fun with that shit but objectively it failed what it promised.

Brink was an immense disappointment, it may not have been the worst game of 2011, but it was still a bitter, bitter disappointment.

I'm going with modern warfare 3.
How original. You're not cool or funny just because you don't like CoD.

OT: I'd have to say...well....TF2? It did just go f2p, and it is constantly updated, but the UBER update added so many terrible items, and too few good ones. Oh yeah, and the soldier eating almost every unlock, and the Enforcer still exists, and the Dead Ringer, and the heavy is overpowered as fuck....I could go on.

Dragon Age 2 because some fucktard decided they should make the franchise into Mass Effect in the middle ages with wizards and shit.

Let's be honest here. None of the games people have mentioned could seriously be considered as the WORST game of 2011.

There's bound to be a whole shitload of shovelware and other crap that no one's even noticed.
Okay , your right , but if you read the OP he only wants you to consider the games YOU BOUGHT that were released in 2011. Meaning that the choice is limited to games you bought and played . If you bough 2 games , well on of those 2 games have to be the worst of the 2 .

OT : i have to say L.A Noire . Because it's the only game i bought this year that i didn't finish due to being bored . Its the the worst game ever , but didn't live up to any of my expectations . This being said i do not regret buying it , because i support any game that tries to do something different .

Other games i bought this year was . Dragon age 2 , dead space 2 , catherine ( my goty btw) and agrest war: zero . LA Noire is the worst of the five 2011 games i bought.

Brink.

Brink is a Ps3 game priced at 60$ U.S. (When I bought it), could only be played online or with Bots and regardless of how you played it the story remained the same. It boasted EXTREME customization of both the Weapons and Characters.

I found it Extremely Lacking. The Gameplay quickly got old with only around 16 maps and 30levels. Any amount of customization was quickly wiped out when I found I could use the same mods regardless of the weapon i wanted to use, and those mods were few in selection. For a game that was based in the Future I was hoping for some Sci-fi or atleast something creative but they only copy-pasted what you could find at a local gunstore. Clothing remained a Joke as all outfits were simply either Rags of torn clothing or some form of Police Uniform.

No game remained balanced as any team of attackers had to assault a team of Medics. Heavy, skinny, or just plain stupid the enemy team was lvl 30 and could revive themselves and others constantly. As they healed and combined enough Medical Supplies to probably make a Dirty Bomb every 2 minutes the game would end in 20.

All weapons were equally balanced in the most awkward way that they were basically carbon copies of each other with different body-kits. The only real weapons that could be called Unique were the Thumper and Gatling Gun.

Brink was a Sport Game in a FPS universe, unfortunately it chose the Sport of Soccer in a War that Noone cared about. The major selling point was to Parkour through level filled with boxes, pipes, and chest-high walls which was indeed entertaining until one realized that if they simply moved or blew up the obstacles then such need for jumping and flips would be rendered moot.

I had a horrible time with Brink, I regret buying it, I regret throwing away the receipt, I regret that it still fills room on my shelf because the resell Value has dropped to nearly a handful of bills.

It may be a bit off-topic in my own damn thread, but that has to be one of the greatest things I've read in a long time.

That being said I liked DA2. I'd be lying though if I said there wasn't some shit in there that made me want to run down to Bioware and beat the shit out of someone. Especially that stupid ***** who re-wrote Anders. You all know the cow. There are screen-caps of her glue-sniffing idiocy EVERYWHERE.
