Yes because we all know the Victorian Times, Steampunk is based on, were roughly about 500 years before they happened.
And you know, that battery or those modern day wires wouldnt work (EDIT: or exist).

OT: Hm... Broadswords are simple. Rapiers elegant. Though neither is good for hunting. I'd say the hand a half broadsword with dagger combo and then use natural hand made traps to hunt my food. So yeah, thats my answer.

Or a cross bow.

Clearly, this is the work of Professor Lupin "Wolf" Madblood...

OT: I will take Pew Pew.

For those of you who don't understand: This is a laser pistol with nearly as good attack power as the Alien Blaster, but whose only disadvantage is that it eats alot of Small Energy Cell per shot. For something that powerful, it's a good trade-off, since it's more common ammo.

A communicator. From Star Trek. So I could call in orbital strikes then afterwards get my keister teleported up to Sick Bay where they could pump me full of the futuristic equivalent of antibiotics. I know, the Plague with a capital P was a good decade away still, but you never can be too safe.

I'll take a phase transition engine. Everybody falls in line when they realize if they don't, their entire hometowns are folded in on themselves, along with everyone else in the town, and the surrounding mountainside. Of course, firing at 50% power just results in a bit of Terraforming.
