Basically every night in Fallout 3 with Fellout and that one mutant mod. So you're walking, scared to hell of everything, even that caravan that might just be a Super Mutant Gargantuan- You neve know, right?
So, you finally convince yourself that the caravan is nonhostile, then you catch something in your peripheral vision...Glowing...
You tentatively tap the 'v' button and...The screen is filled with enemy icons! Night Ghouls proceed to eat you.

The Dead Space intro. 'Course, that was built to be an 'oh shit, run' moment...
I would have to say Oblivion. The first time I played it, I had no idea what I was doing, and I accidentally stole a horse from the first tavern you come across after the jail. Then I ran into a guard, who came after me as if he saw me stealing it (seriously, how the hell does he know it's not my horse? Does he know every horse in the whole kingdom personally?), and he came after me, so I killed him. Then I promptly had 5 new guards crawl up out of nowhere and attack me, so you better believe I took my stolen horse and ran for the hills.
I did get a visit from the dark brotherhood that night though, which eventually netted me a far better horse, so I suppose I should really thank that guard.

Note: Never turn left and follow the wall when you first get out the Vault. You'll come across a few pansy raiders, yeah, but there is some nasties just WAITING for you if you don't turn back and get back on path.OverweightWhale said:

While playing Vampire Rain (something I wouldn't advise doing) I took careful aim and fired at what I thought was an unaware Vampire's head, it was really his arm. I had enough time to think 'Oh, Shi-' before I was killed.
While playing Fallout 3 I ran into a Deathclaw (at full health) when I was at level five or so and with less than half my health , a ten millimeter pistol and a hunting rifle, with very little ammo. That encounter did not end well.

Almost any grenade-based experience on MW2 ends with an "oh shit" being uttered by myself, normally because it's either a semtex and I'm dead or because it's a pineapple and I can't pick the fiddly little bastard up.
Its not really in the degrees of absolute terror, but in Bioshock when I was first playing the game, I went into the room that steams up in Medical Pavalion section. I grabbed the tonic and tried to walk backwards, finding that I couldnt, so I turned slowly, to see one of the splicer doctors just standing there looking at me.
I literally jumped off my seat at that, uttering "Oh Shit!!!" as I did so.

I was playing dead space for the first time with my friend, three of these happened:
1: it was I think the 3rd or 4th chapter, and I was in a closet with a pile of dead bodies (two of which were necromorphs) I proceeded to open up some of the cabinets in there when on necromorph who was hiding underneath the pile jumped up and screamed at me, which would have been okay on it's own, but the camera was angled so that it jumped up RIGHT AT THE FUCKING SCREEN. I actually yelled "HOLY SHIT!" at (nearly) the top of my lungs and dropped the controller. My friend and I engaged in a laughing fit and I continued playing.
2: one of the later chapters, I was fighting an elite brute (either the first or second one you fight) there were several grav panels and as I ran away from the brute (I was running out of ammo) I basicakky said 'run away!.." and saw a grav panel in front of me, being 4 o'clock in the morning, I didn't stop running, I instead saw fit to yell "VENT!" before being splattered on the ceiling and being told I died.
3: first time I fought the hunter, I pulled out the pulse rifle and proceeded to open up a can of canadian maple flavoured whoop-ass on it, I couldn't think of a one liner at the time so I said "that was it?". the response was that of the hunter regenerating which I yelled "it getting back up!" in typical horror movie fashion.

My last oh shit RUN moment was in the new AvP in the refinery level, running through a bug nest as fast as possible with only my pulse rifle and a my pistol as they all woke up.mrhappyface said:
I thought that game was all around fun because you didn't play as some badass jedi, you were just some random soldier. Any encounters with jedi in battlefront was scary, but fun because they could easily kill you. Also one of the best games to play splitscreen on.Mr. Gency said:
Don't have 1 in a game but in RL me and my cousin were sitting by a park near his house and i threw a rock up and it landed on some old guys tin carport roof. Thinking nothing about it we started walking back home when all of a sudden we hear "Oi you!", we didn't look back and just legged it past his house and down an ally. The old man was yelling "Cops, call the cops, I've got two of them here!" We didn't go out again that night.
