Each of us has a preferred setting for his game( not talking about genres). Be it WW2, present day, futuristic, fantasy, western, steampunk, whatever. But what do you consider to be the worst possible setting ; do you consider it bland, boring, over-used, under-used, speak your mind.

Guess i should say one to, hmmm ... japanese fantasy, just like below said, final fantasy horrifies me

Fantasy worlds. Like Final Fantasy ish. Some of the ideas for the worlds are just too absurd. Yes Originality is good, but there is such a thing as going over the top.

It's an expression used after an opinion is expressed, when the poster believes their opinion to be true and superior. Basically it means 'end of thread'.

"Close Thread"

The '/' means end or close.

Basically "I have given the best answer, no need for any more discussion."

Although it's probably used less arrogantly than that, that's the gist of it.

So /sarcasm would be used to indicate that the previous statement was sarcastic and everything afterwards isn't.

I'm just sick of the short brown hair white guy space marine protagonist that is in virtually every single game. (Yes I know Yahtzee pointed that out)

Don't be a dick, /thread makes you look like an idiot.

World War 2 happens to be my favourite setting.

My least favourite is anything boring and brown. Fallout 3 comes to mind.

I'm tired of fantasy settings that do nothing original with them.

Fantasy is nice, but I don't want the same cookie cutter forests + elves + orcs again.

I really can't stand the setting in most Final Fantasy games, or JRPG's in general, if it's not some cutesy land full of happy furry animals and rainbows, it's an absurd mashup of sci-fi, steampunk, fantasy, and all kinds of stupid stuff. Bleh, not for me.

Edit: And I really don't see why people hate WWII games so much, I know there is a lot, but personally WWII games are some of my favorite. They're so freaking epic.

Brown/grey crumbling ruins, world war two, the apocolypse in any fallout esque way seen one bombed out city/ruins seen em' all. Grey metal spaceships with dim lighting/corradors, sewers, massive expanses of desert, IN SPAAAAAAAAACE, sci-fi cities/laboratories, caves.

I don't know why, but i dislike games being set in the south, the whole "bayou" thing does not really appeal to me. I don't know if i can enjoy L4D2, and Point Lookout kind of got on my nerves.

Official "Worst-Setting-EVAR" is Warhammer 40000. It's so over-the-top and grimdark that it's not even funny.

But JRPGs come in as a close second.

It was a joke. Jesus. 'Least I didn't go "FIRST!".

And World War games I find completely unimaginative and brings nothing insanely fun. If you play one war game, you played them all, just with different graphics.

A Gas Station Restroom. The entirety of the game occurs in there.

Oh, you mean in an actual game? WW2 most definately needs a break.

I don't know, there is still some untapped resources for WWII games. Personally I'd love to play a WWII game taking place in Finland when they fought off Russia.
